Showers held for December babies


Stella Dixon of Blackey had to be taken from dialysis to the emergency room. She was having trouble walking and they said she had an infection and was a little dehydrated. They sent her home and my mom Jean went around and visited with her. She was feeling some better but her daughter Judy was sick with a stomach virus.

Wesley Dixon of Carcassonne was in Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital with pneumonia. He was doing some better so he was put in a regular room. He is the son of John and Jenny Dixon.

Happy birthday to Sue Kinneer of Blackey. It was on Nov. 12. Danna Lyn Smith of Jeremiah had one also on the 12th, Mary Gail Adams of Blackey had one on Nov. 13, and Helen Brunty of Letcher has one on Nov. 16.

The Letcher Elementary School PTO is selling cookbooks. They are $10 till Thanksgiving then will be $12 after that. You can get them from the school or you can contact Sara Eldridge at sararebecca@hotmail.com.

There was a baby shower held at the Calvary College on Saturday for Crystal Frazier and Ethan Brown. Their baby boy is due around Christmas. There was also a baby shower held Sunday for Mashawna and Phillip Caudill at the Blackey Missionary Baptist Church. They are expecting a baby girl, also in December. They have a son, Jacob, who’s just turned 3.

Danny and Von Hall of Blackey went to Kingsport, Tenn., where Danny had to have surgery on Thursday for a herniated disk in his back. Von’s sister and her husband, Sam and Wanda Howie, live in Tennessee and met them at the hospital.

There will be a Christmas bazaar and auction held at the Blackey Doermann Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 21. They also will have chili and hot-dogs. It will be from 4 to 6 p.m.. Everyone is welcome.
