Singing Holbrooks offer to perform

Big Cowan

Hello everyone! Hoping all are having a good week. Mine has been kind of sad. I’m still missing my husband who has been gone now for four months.

His and my ex-sister-inlaw, Debbie Newman, died from cancer at the age of 55 on April 4, and a good lady from the church, Judy Baylis in Greensburg, Ind., died on April 3.

My best friend’s husband just found out he has cancer. Hang in there, John.

Birthdays this week: Thelma Roark Osborne who lives in Milan, Ind., Gwen Amos, and Delilah Breeding will be six years old, all on April 10. Delilah is a granddaughter of Linda and Brack Sexton.

Emily McIntosh will be 16 on April 12, and Chris Taylor has a birthday on April 12; Phillip Fields of Reddington, Ind., on April 14; Arlene Collins on April 15; Brad Jackson and Diana Abbott on April 16.

I’m hoping all of them have a wonderful day.

I have been in contact with James Boyd (a former Letcher County man), who lives in Dante, Va., and is with the Singing Holbrooks (a gospel group) and they would like to come to Letcher County to sing and preach. If you would like for them to come and sing or preach at your church, call Linda Holbrook at 216-495- 8461 to schedule an appointment, whether it be at a festival or whatever. They do not charge, but will accept love offerings. I think you might enjoy them.

James is a son of Marie Johnson Boyd, formerly of Little Cowan, and she is such a sweet lady. I enjoyed talking with her on the phone, and hope she is doing well.

If any of you know Shelby Bockover of Greensburg, Ind., she would love to hear from some of you. She has been lonely since Bobby passed a few years ago.

She is a daughter of the late Culbert and Nancy Thomas of Little Cowan, and if some of you former Letcher Countians who relocated to Indiana could get in touch with her she would love it. She doesn’t drive out of town anymore, so she would love to hear from you. Call me if you would like her phone number.

Agnes Maggard has been in a Columbus, Ind., hospital. She is doing some better, but still needs prayer.

Others who need prayer this week: Joyce Wilson, Zane Day, Georgette Sims, Irene and Eugene Day, Archie Fields, Mike Fields, Melinda Daniel, myself, Pat King, Ellen King, Peggy King Caudill, Agnes Maggard, Barb and Jessie McBee, Jeanne Adams, all the homeless, shut- ins, alcoholics, those addicted to drugs, our unsaved children, neighbors, friends and family.

Well folks, I’ve got to go for now. May God bless each and every one one of you. Until next time.
