Sisters visit Betty Kelly

Southern Ohio

Hello again everyone!

I still believe that we have skipped summer almost completely, since we have endured such a short, mild summer. I am still kicking myself for not doing all the things that I intended on doing, though it doesn’t do any good to regret.

Richard Caudill has been so nice to keep me updated on a couple of events like the square dance that I love so much. Saturday night, there was a special guest at the square dance, a journalist from England was enjoying the event and talking to several who attended.

I have never met Richard in person, although I am acquainted with several of his family members. I know Richard has recently moved back to his old homeplace, and from what I have seen of his garden by his post on the computer, he is a very self-sufficient man and not afraid of a hard day’s work, and he still has energy to go dancing.

I really admire his writing as he takes you on his journey through his travels, be it as a youngster or now. Sometimes when I am reading it is a good thing I don’t have a drink in my mouth as I get so tickled I would absolutely get strangled.

Betty Kelly is having special guests this week as several of her sisters are visiting. Oh to be a little bird and listen to these giggles as they are sitting on the porch or out gadding around. Maybe Bill will do a little dance to entertain them.

Sunday was Old Time Fiddlers meeting. We had a small group of musicians, the music was good, and there was a very attentive crowd.

Doyle and Betty Ison weren’t able to attend as Betty wasn’t feeling well. I hope she is feeling better. I really enjoy when Doyle and Betty attend.

Les and Pat Wagner, and Larry and Becky Hasty are doing alright. Polly Hasty and daughter Kelly enjoyed a few days on vacation.

Polly Maucher called with some very sad news. My sincere sympathy goes out to Willis Whitaker and family of Lawrenceburg, Ind., in the sudden loss of a grandson due to an accident.

The Whitaker family is from Kingscreek. Watson and Alma Whitaker were their parents. I used to refer to Alma as my little extra mountain Mama.

Congratulations to Michael Ison as his daughter Brooke and her husband Jeff are expecting a bay girl. I hope I got the right name.

I haven’t talked to Johnny and Ann Calihan for a while.

I really hate to cut this short but it is storming. I will fill you in on more next week

Until next time.
