Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, February 11 a.m. at the Whitesburg campus to mark the college’s 50th anniversary.
During the event visitors will view a video tribute to the college, ‘The Southeast Story’, Cory Reynolds Frazier Auditorium in the Belinda Mason Building. On exhibit in room 128 of Caudill Hall will be an collection of posters created by students in the Appalachian Studies classes.
Additionally, displays from the annual Treasures From the Hills and Hollows folk event held each autumn will be on display, while posters and displays created by chemistry and biology students will be presented in the biology lab located in room 112 of the Hogg Allied Health Building.
Students in the SKCTC radiography and respiratory care programs will demonstrate a variety of equipment used to train students; the locations will be in room 235 of the Belinda Mason Building and room 112 of Caudill Hall.
Visitors will also be able to examine a 15 feet by 40 feet mural depicting the development of the Whitesburg campus. The mural, created in 2009 by faculty member Sue Greer- Pitt, is located in the lobby of Caudill Hall.
A luncheon will be served beginning at 11:30 a. m. in the community room of the Belinda Mason Building.
