Sorority attends Founders Day banquet at Jenkins

Kentucky Laureate RHO Sorority was in Jenkins at the Old Jenkins School Senior Citizens Center to attend the 84th anniversary Founders Day banquet in celebration of its founding on April 23.

Hosted by the Gamma Upsilon Chapter, we were welcomed by President Jo Ann Baldwin. Eileen Sanders let the Pledge of Allegiance and Taylyn Combs sang the National Anthem, and entertained the group during dinner. A fantastic job .

The theme for 2014-2015 was ‘Expand Your Beta Sigma Phi Family Tree.’

Tables were decorated with small trees with the Chapter and sisters’ names on the branches, and Leones presidents of each chapter reported on what they did this past year.

Congratulations and thanks for making our community a better place by giving of your time and talents.

Chapters attending and presidents for 2015-2016 are Beta Kappa, Patsy Stamper; Epsilon Phi, Mary Meade and Michelle Meade; Gamma

Epsilon, Jo Ann Baldwin; Zeta-Zeta, Renal Neace; Zeta Epsilon, Sonia Anderson; and Laureate, Jolinda Wright.

The theme for 2015-2016 is, ‘Rekindle the Torch of Friendship.’ Sixty-one members enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by the Eastern Star.

Attending from the Laureate RHO were Vernell Mullins, Jolinda Wright, Janet Tucker, Shannon Mullins, Liz Lee, Mahala Frazier, Irene Smith, Ann Bradley, Ann Estep, Sally Caudill, Ellen Compton, Norma Collins, Cheryl Hall, Brenda Quillen, Patty Nantz, Ann Reynolds and Janie Frazier.

The following poem is by Darla Perkins.

It seems we just connected/ Right from the start./ Meant to be — naturally,/ Sisters of the heart./And though we don’t share parents,/ As real sisters do./ Growing up on my family tree,/Is a special branch for you.

A time-tested kinship,/ In which God plays a part,/ Through talks and laughter,/ Sorrows and dreams,/Of/ Sisters by heart.
