Kentucky Laureate RHO Sorority had its first meeting for the year at the lovely home of Shannon Mullins on Sept. 10. The theme for the meeting, “Down Home Country Autumn” blue jeans, cowgirl hats and boots, was the attire for the evening.
A soup bean dinner was catered by Ellen Compton and served on a beautifully decorated patio and tables in autumn colors with pumpkins and candlelight.
President Jolinda Wright conducted the business session. The theme for 2015- 2016 year is “Your Forever Friends.”
Enjoying the evening were Sally Caudill, Delta Craft, Jo Champion, Sandy Banks, Ann Estep, Mahala Frazier, Cheryl Hall, Liz Lee, Vernell Mullins, Patty Nantz, Brenda Quillen, Ann Reynolds, Irene Smith and Earlene Williams.
Sept. 23, we had lunch at the Extension Office, soup beans with all the trimmings in support of the Homemakers’ fundraiser for ovarian cancer screening.
Our sorority lost a dear sister, Pearl Goode, in August. She was a faithful member for 53 years. She will be missed.
Ellen lost a brother in August, and so did I. Thanks to all for your love and support.
Sept. 29, we traveled to Kingsport, Tenn., for lunch at the Mezzanine Tea Room to celebrate Shannon Mullins’s birthday. Each member drew a sister’s name to help her celebrate by taking her to lunch, a movie, or whatever she might enjoy.
Shannon was Jolinda’s secret sister, and celebrating with her were Sally Caudill, Delta Craft, Ellen Compton, Anna Hall, Cheryl Hall, Liz Lee, Earlene Williams, Janet Tucker, Irene Smith, Vernell Mullins and guests Liz Simon and Sandy Jackson.
Welcome home, Janet. So good to have you back and looking great.
Thanks to the Mountain Heritage Committee and businesses; the town looks beautiful. Great job!
