Soup bean dinner goes well

A couple Sundays ago while we were all gone to church, our neighbors Ronnie W. and Vickie Jones’s home was broken into. It happened between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The burglars had come around the backside of the hill and had used a wedge of some kind to enter the home. State Trooper Randy Surber and Deputy Mike Dingus investigated the burglary. Monday afternoon Trooper Surber told me they had one of the alleged burglars, Mike Slone, charged with second-degree burglary and in jail.

The burglars have hit several homes. Thanks to all of our law enforcement.

Luther Meade was sick over the weekend. His wife, Millie, and grandson, Jordan Childers, took him to the emergency room. They sent him home after he was treated for an ear infection.

Myself and Wendy Ison attended supper with David and Missy Boggs Sunday afternoon. David was the principal at Whitesburg High School. Before David had retired, he rode his Harley-Davidson into the school gym. I’ll never forget that. Sunday afternoon you would have almost thought it was a school. There were teenagers coming and going the whole time we were there. We had a swell time. Missy fixed a tasty dinner of homemade spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, and stuffed mushrooms with real crab meat.

Wishing Missy Boggs a happy birthday on March 15, Daronna Moster Bolger March 13, and Fred Ison March 25.

Winston Sturgill is wanting a small house dog of any kind. If anyone has one to give away to a good home, call 832-9276.

The Whitesburg Freewill Baptist Church did really well with the soup bean dinner they had March 7. They sold around 1,500 dinners. They want to thank everyone for helping, donating, and buying dinners. Service at the church is held every Sunday morning at 11 a.m. and Sunday night at 6 p.m.
