I used to love to hear a certain preacher preach until his head got too big. All he wanted to talk about was his crown in heaven, how much bigger it was going to be than everybody else’s. I clearly see in 2 Timothy that he won’t be the only one with one. Everyone will have one. Thank you.

Looks like another preacher is wanting another raise.

Oh my gosh. I see the principal is at it again, only this time it cost him his job.

A lot of people said we wouldn’t make it six months, but I thank God that we have almost made it 13 years on July 26.

I am wanting to talk a little bit about prescription drugs here in eastern Kentucky. Not only here, but they are bad everywhere. They are really terrible. People are dying from this stuff and it is like they are lost and are trying to find something. I want to say to everyone that has a drug problem or any kind of prescription problem, get the answer and the answer is God. If you are lost and are searching for something instead of drugs, you ought to get God because He is free. He doesn’t cost even a penny and God can help you through thick and thin. I am going to let you go, but the answer is the Lord. He solves all problems. People that are dying from drugs and don’t want to go to hell need to get the Lord and go to heaven and live for eternity up there. I’ll let you go. Bye.

I’ve never called Speak Your Piece before, but I want to speak my piece now. There is this family without food. They went to the food pantry and didn’t get anything but canned food. They need meat. Their brother is a preacher at a certain church and didn’t off er any help. Their mom and dad don’t off er help. They have brothers and sisters and they don’t off er to help. A family is sitting and starving when a preacher and their family just don’t care. I just want everybody to know why some people don’t go to that church or to their mom and dad’s. They won’t give them a bite to eat. Keep on praying for that family. God knows who it is.

To a woman who is going from church to church talking about this little girl who married a man who has been married before: I’ve got news for you, lady. He doesn’t drink. He doesn’t do drugs. And I’d rather she marry somebody like that than like your son. You need to be down on your hands and knees praying for your son. He does drugs, does pot, and drinks all the time. You aren’t much of a mother to get out and talk about someone like that. Clean out your own closet before you talk about someone else. At least that boy doesn’t drink or do drugs. He’s a nice boy. It doesn’t matter if his marriage didn’t work. Maybe yours wouldn’t work if your husband knew how long tongued you were.

I love you and I wish you and your lover the best. I hope you are happy. You and that Knott County sleazeball should quit trying to demonize your uncles.

If you want to be elected this upcoming election, just ask Jim Ward and Archie Banks and they will put you on their governor’s truck.

I have never been more ashamed of my fellow mountain people than I have been to watch how we have stood by silently while a few mid-management coal types have gotten people all riled up about Ashley Judd and her views on mountaintop mining. It’s embarrassing to see how these ‘Friends of Coal’ types have been successful in getting us hillbillies to bow down to their greatness while we talk nasty about the actress Miss Judd just because she wants to protect God’s creation. I don’t have a thing against mountaintop mining myself, but I also can see why others such as Miss Judd may see it as terribly wrong to ruin God’s handiwork just so a few corporations can make a profit. I’ve got a feeling that Miss Judd has a better chance of getting into heaven than those who are acting so vile toward her.

Have no fear, James Wiley is here. He is the man.

I’m calling concerning a man who lives in Hemphill. I think he should quit lying. He lied and said he was a Christian. When people tell you they are a Christian, look at them and make sure they are Christians. This one says he is an unborn Christian. There is no Christian there. Thank you.

Hey hot shot. Did you get the message? I sure hope so. That lovely wife of yours has had some roaming eyes, so you better keep an eye on her.

What’s this world coming to? Tattoos, earrings and cell phones. Duh.

Could someone please tell me who is the judge of Letcher County? I thought it was Jim Ward, not Archie Banks. Thank you.

Come on preacher man, at least have a little bit of respect and dignity and return a person’s phone call every once in a while. I may be important. You never know.

I’m calling about the female and her son in Goose Creek that recently were incarcerated that continuously did illegal things. This needs to be brought to UNITE’s attention. This has gone on. They have sold to my son and many other parents’ children and this needs to stop. UNITE, you need to do something about this. Their names have been turned in over and over and over by at least seven or eight people I know of personally. Please take them off of the drug market.

There were some recent indictments that included some former magistrates in an OxyContin deal. There was a female that stayed there at the time that all of this went down and her name never did get mentioned in any of all of this. Could that be who the informant was? She knows who she is.

I hear that bologna is going to be a staple next year. Enjoy.

I wholeheartedly agree with the person that wrote in about the Jenkins police. I came home from work the other night about 2 o’clock in the morning. I saw a police car pull out and follow this car down the road. They turned their lights on and when the car started to pull off he turned his lights off and went back the other direction. I don’t know what that looks like to you, Charlie, but to me that looks like harassment.

Did everybody out there in TV land see this committee on Channel 98, the argument that they are doing? Which one do you all think might be the best in that committee? Think about that now so we will know how to vote come November. You all have a wonderful day.

This lady always says if you can’t tell one dog pile from another one, the little dog poops little piles and the big dog poops big piles. How in the world does she know that and isn’t she a dog blank, blank, blank inspector? She is bound to be by telling which pile is diff erent. Like she said, a big dog don’t blank, blank, blank a little pile and a little dog don’t blank, blank, blank a big pile. She is bound to be a blank, blank, blank inspector.

There are these two women that are always bickering over this man. I would love to meet these women and discuss this man with them and find out what this man has that other men don’t. I want to figure out why they are quarreling at each other so much and putting each other down. What does he have, a double barrel and what is his size? Is he tall or short or fat or skinny? What in heck does this man have? Me and my friend have been talking. He has to have a load of something. We would like to meet him. Maybe the best woman will win. I hope it’s me.

How can someone work at a restaurant and draw Social Security, too? Isn’t that against the law? Thank you.

To the ex-wife: Nobody has your house key. Nobody wants to walk through your front door. You are a pathological liar and a worthless nobody. That’s why you are all alone. That proves it. You better leave me alone and back off before people find exactly what you don’t want people to know about you and believe me. I’ll say it if you don’t shut your lying mouth.

This is to all of the people in Letcher County that have kids: You better watch the Letcher County social workers, because they will stab you in the back the first chance they get.

I’m a concerned citizen that lives in the Blair Branch community. I have to say that I am ashamed of the Letcher County judicial system. A couple of weeks ago a neighbor of mine who was arrested for shoplifting in Whitesburg and who is already on probation for a fallback from dealing drugs, paid her fine and that was it. No jail time for a probation violation, just a slap on the wrist. Here she is walking the road of Blair Branch going door to door trying to sell stuff so she can go down the road trying to get enough money to buy some crack to fill her pipe. Here she is again selling prescription medication to our children. Here she is again using the mental illness card trying to get people to feel sorry for her. She has more sense than any of us. She lives in a house rent-free. No mortgage. People give her handouts. She is out no money on clothes, purses, shoes, etc. She has people to haul her around. No money for gas. She pays them by Cloterdene or Loratab. She gets food stamps, medical card, SSI check. She’s got it made. She was at my house just this last week trying to sell some shoes and other stuff out of her house. She is aggravating and a menace to society. I am so disappointed in the judicial system. How do people learn any lessons? She never does any long-term jail time ever. I believe this is a woman who could commit murder and be set free. Of course she could do it. She could play the mental illness card, shed some tears and there you go, free as a bird. It’s a shame that what used to be a good community is falling victim to the drug-dealing, crack-smoking skanks who keep breaking the law and get set free time and time again. When is it going to stop? When are our elected officials, our police department, when are they going to take people like this off the street, lock them up, throw away the key and say good riddance?

Yeah, I see the county workers are wanting another dollar on the hour. Would it be worth that much more to see them standing around leaning on a shovel all day every time you go by looking at them? Is it really worth another dollar on the hour? Is it worth the taxpayers’ money to see them sitting beside the road asleep or sitting on the tailgate of a truck drinking pop or tea all day long? Is it worth it to the taxpayers? Thank you.

Just a little bit of information for these people in eastern Kentucky: Did you know that the punishment for horse killing and horse thieving by law is hanging?

Yeah, I got your message. It meant as much to me as the rest of them. I wadded it up and dropped it in the trashcan. Same place you belong.

This is the Christian woman replying to the Christian man: Where in the world is Flat Gap? Where and when do you want to meet? What time and what will you be wearing? Please reply in next week’s Speak Your Piece.

This is just a little note to say hello and that you are thought about and cared about every day. To the girl that works in the deli in Letcher County. Signed Me.

To hear that the old Whitesburg school could be used as an assisted home for the aged is the best idea I have heard. Remember, you baby boomers, you aren’t far away from older citizens yourself. Would you like to spend your life savings in Lexington or Louisville? It takes many employees to operate these businesses, the kind we have here in eastern Kentucky.

I would like to know how you build a new home selling drugs and get away with it. Would somebody please answer that question? Thank you.

Is it so that Jim Ward found a place for the dogs? I heard that they are going to round them up and put them in his yard so he can feed them.

This is to the new owners a certain business: You claim to be a millionaire, but everyone knows you are flat broke and an ugly old baldheaded man. You asked me to leave your store and I did. I will catch you out some day and will give you what you deserve when your wife isn’t there to protect.

Hey Daddy, it’s me. I just wanted to call you and tell you the baby says she loves you. And we miss you so bad. We’re thinking about you every second of every day so go ahead and write us another letter. I love you. From Mama. Bye.

You may threaten to leave him. You may threaten to not love him. You may not let him out of your sight. You may accuse him of not loving you, but you cannot take the memory of me from his mind. The memory of a first love is strong, and that is what we have. What a wonderful life.

This goes out to a woman that I would have to go through doors 9 and 10 to see: I wanted to let her know that I love her with all my heart and I think about her all the time. She knows who I am. I have her name tattooed on the left side of my chest. Love you, baby.

To a woman on a walker in jail: How do you get up and down by yourself?

The jail food is great, if they would just give you enough to keep you from starving. Thank you, Mountain Eagle, for Speak Your Piece. We think you guys are great.

There you go again, talking about someone’s heritage. You have no right to talk about a dog with your heritage. I don’t think I’ll be in the pen, but you’ll most certainly split hell wide open with all you do. With all the lies you’ve told people about me. I don’t care who thinks I’m crazy, the people who count already know you’re crazy. They don’t pay any attention to you.

It appears there is more than one ex-wife commenting in here because my husband wouldn’t have his exwife back for any amount of money. He says she’s nasty trash and she wouldn’t even be worth the time he spent with her. People need to be more specific to who it is so you won’t get blasted with the truth that was meant for someone else.

To my ex-wife: I don’t have your key, and I don’t want to come through your front door and I never will, psycho. Get over it. You need to put a leash on your girlfriend because I wouldn’t have her either.

I just watched TV Channel 98. Kudos to John Lucas for standing up for what’s right. Archie Banks, you never looked so stupid in your whole life. Jim Ward, you are a lying pot-bellied pig. State employees did receive a raise. You would know that if you were up on things. Go ahead, check it out. Most of the insurance that you said the county paid for is taken out of employee salaries every two weeks, and you know it. So to sit there and act like it’s paid for is a lie. The only personnel policy the county has looks like it’s something from the X-Files. It’s partially blacked out. Jim Ward, if you start laying off or cutting back on programs such as the Senior Citizens, are you going to take away the salaried wages? Where are all the new jobs you say you created? The only ones you created after coming into office are political paybacks. Jim, your slogan is ‘He Cares,’ but you don’t care for your employees. Keith Adams, things sure have changed since you were on the other side of that table. Remember what you campaigned on? That was all a lie. You fit in with the political warthogs now. One of you got beat in the election. The rest of you might in the next one. Wayne Fleming seemed to have the best sense of anyone. But does he really mean it? Well, I guess as the old saying goes, ‘As long as some people are swimming, they don’t care if you’ve drowned.’ Jim, maybe this could be your next campaign slogan. Signed: It’s election time, boys.

The Pike County Judge said the recent flood was an act of God. People are murmuring God provided the rains, mountaintop removal provided the mud. A guy told me a friend of ours had four feet of mud in his house. I saw several feet of mud in a lot of driveways. This is more mud than I’ve ever seen before in my life. I don’t know what to think. Have you ever seen a reclaimed strip mine that had trees on it?

People of Pike County need to stop mountaintop mining, all strip mining. Gas companies and logging are doing eastern Kentucky injustice. You have a corrupt court system. The rich people don’t live in the hollows. They could care less about the poor people living in these hollows if they get washed away.

If you have an abandoned house in McRoberts that you would like to have torn down and removed for free, please call the Blighted and Deteriorated Committee at 606-832-4789 or 606-832-4363. The county is willing to do the work at the present time for free. These old houses are more than an eyesore, they are a huge liability to the owners. Children and others wander onto the property and may be injured. Some of these houses are positioned so that they may fall into the road and cause damages that the owners may be held liable for. Some are located where they can fall and block the creeks to cause flooding. If that happens and personal property is damaged as a result, the person/persons suff ering the damages have a right to seek compensation from the owners. Please do the responsible thing and take advantage of this service.

Well, I see old Two-Shot is at it again, straight out of prison and breaking up happy homes. I can’t believe any girl would actually believe he’ll ever settle down. He’ll leave you for another married woman just like he always has before.

The Fox network is pro dirty water, pro dirty air, pro dirty news, and pro dirty politics. The oil mess in the Gulf is BP’s fault. They screwed up, now the Republicans want the federal government to pay for the cleanup. Whatever happened to freedom of private enterprises to pay for their own problems?

To a man on Pine Creek: Did you ever register as a sex off ender? I think I will make a trip down to the courthouse and ask them if you did. You know, you claim to be a Christian. God may forgive, but the little girl and her family will never forget. I think the people in Letcher County need to know who you really are.

Many times the people of Letcher County have let me down, but most of the time they come through when I ask, and for that I am grateful. I have never been as let down as I was at the ‘Kids Day Back to School Bash 2010’ at the Whitesburg River Park. As several members of the Kids Day Committee and myself were readying for our event to be held the next day, a cold chill came over me. The thought came to my mind and heart that something was about to go dreadfully wrong. I blurted out, though lips that didn’t seem to belong to me, ‘we are going to have a state inspector tomorrow.’ The rest of the committee members looked at me like they had just seen a ghost. Nobody disagreed with me. This was our 40th event, and it was a special day for one of our founders, Mable Johnson of Hemphill. She was to be honored for her part in founding Kids Day. Our first event drew 37 children and had a $500 budget. If you drove by or came and enjoyed the day with us, you could tell, we’ve come a long way, baby. The beautiful park, the kids, all the dignitaries from the Mayor to our County Judge/Executive to our State Representative to our District Judge to our PVA to our Superintendent of Jenkins Schools, all were there to make this a special day for our kids and Mable. The call came in and was delivered to me around 10:30. Shut down one of our inflatables, because it was not licensed in the Commonwealth. Although there was nothing dangerous or unsafe about the inflatable, an inspector was on his way in to shut it down with 200 children in line to get on it. Mayor James Wiley Craft, our State Representative Leslie Combs, our Judge/Executive Jim Ward, and our District Judge went into action to keep the ride open. And that is the way it stayed open. Whoever called the state didn’t reach their goal. The Kids Day Committee has an almost perfect safety record. The person who called is a lowlife, who lives in a world lower than whale dung. You never took away the kids’ fun, you never gained an inch in stature, you never lost one pound in weight, you don’t look any better today than the day before you made that call. The kids had their day and for that we salute the people who came to our defense. Why doesn’t the blackhearted person come forward and say, ‘I’m the one who made the call to the state, and this is the reason I did it.’ You don’t have what it takes to step forward and fess up. In closing, let me say although the piece of cow patty didn’t get much done, they have without a doubt got one thing done. They have gotten a good, hardworking Letcher Countian, who was under contract with the Kids Day Committee and has been for the past few years, booted from ever doing a Kids Day again. He is the one who is getting the blame, like it or not. He will be the one to pay the price without a doubt. I speak not as a Kids Day member, but as just me. I am Steve Brewer, Whitesburg.

The website Topix is absolutely awful. At least with Speak Your Piece you refrain from outright naming certain individuals and monitor things to prevent profanity and such. Topix is a free-for-all of complete absurd and downright slanderous (libelous) comments riddled with profanity and off ense. Due to its anonymity and lack of close scrutiny, anything pretty much goes there. I’m finding it very hard to believe that people can say such things about others and get away with it. There is no accountability for what one says there and I’m appalled to know that children have access to it. I would like to commend Speak Your Piece for giving us the public format as you do, but also for supervising things in an adult manner to where people are not just lambasted and attacked without repercussions. Topix really should be boycotted and I’m glad to know the Kentucky Commonwealth Attorney General is investigating or has investigated Topix.

Rand Paul wants to bring back the good old days, $2 an hour for work and $4 a gallon for gas. I’m sure we all remember those good old days. Those good old days were better for people like Rand Paul than they were for us.
