You think you are so smart. I wonder what your husband would say if I tell him where you are going every night while he is working in the coal mines. I know where you are going. Look behind you. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I found out that Letcher Elementary School does not have copy paper for its worksheets during the day at school. Why is there being a vocational school built if they can’t even supply our kids with worksheets they need in classrooms and textbooks? Think about that.
It takes a coward to call into Speak Your Piece and say what they want to say. If you have anything to say about a person, go up to their face and say it so they know what you have to say. That way you won’t have to put it in Speak Your Piece. If you are ashamed, why would you want to put it in there to start with? Or if you are a little on the nervous side, why would you want to say anything? The best thing you could do is to keep your thoughts to yourself.
(Yours is an interesting
comment, especially given
the fact you are a regular
contributor to this column.)
To the lady who wrote in about someone saying something to someone she had brought to church: I am so sorry that happened to you. Try Seco Freewill Baptist Church. I have taken many people there dressed in many diff erent ways, from ripped-up jeans to T-shirts, shorts and work boots. They will not care and they will accept you. Try it. God bless you.
To the girl on Big Branch: When that big woman catches you there won’t be anything left but a greasy spot and that chew you have in your mouth.
This is to guy at Loves Branch: You really messed up when you moved that woman in with you. Now who’s going to help you?
Hey, people of Letcher County. For your information, Randy Blair works for Equitable Resources, the gas company. Yes, the gas company. He’s a land agent. So think about it. Don’t be stupid.
(Randy Blair is not an
employee of Equitable Resources.)
I was wondering about the Green Acres Cemetery. How come it isn’t being kept up this summer? It’s pitiful. I don’t know what’s happened. Did they sell it? I thought it was supposed to be kept clean and mowed at all times. You know people have put a lot of money into that cemetery for their loved ones. Something’s got to be done now.
To the lady who pulled out in front of a pickup truck on the Whitesburg bypass about 3:30 on Tuesday, August 17 and sat there in front of him: If he had hit you, you would have never known it. You don’t need a driver’s license. You know who I am talking about. You came out of the hollow at Long Branch driving a black truck and you just sat there. No doubt there were some little kids in that car. Only God knows what kept that man from hitting you. He almost wrecked, but missed you by about six inches. Lady, give your driver’s license up if you can’t do any better than that.
Remember, God looks on the inside. People look on the outside. I’m praying that God will bless you. I’m sorry you had a bad incident at church. You will find a better church. You will be happier than ever. God’s blessings are upon you and your family. The person you took to church, I’m sure their feelings were hurt. Everything is going to be better than it ever could have been. It is all going to work out. It will happen. May God bless you.
Well, I knew it was coming sooner than later. It’s a sight. They dug the ditches out six feet deep around here on Highway 7. Now when people run off the road they run into the ditches and their cars have to be pulled out by a wrecker. Duh. Don’t you think we need the ditches just like maybe two inches so the water can just roll a little bit? That way if a person runs off the road they can maybe fight it to get the car back on the road. If my car ever lands in the ditch, you will be paying for the whole thing. An accident just happened here now. I saw it. It is a shame that a car has to be pulled out of a ditch.
I would just like to say that I am a county employee of Letcher County and John Lucas absolutely does not speak for all of the county workers. I think the man is an idiot, and if he had watched himself on the county TV channel, he might see what an idiot he was actling like in the fiscal court meeting the other night. So, John, you just speak for John. You don’t speak for the rest of us.
If I were you people I wouldn’t be worrying too much about what I have done. You should be worried about what I am going to do.
I will always get the last laugh because you have earned it and you deserve it.
It’s about time a certain man got indicted for all the mean things that he does to people. I hope they lock him up and throw the key away before some innocent person gets killed.
Kudos to the reporter of The Mountain Eagle
that reported on Ron Belcher and Joe Greene’s pot and gun charges last week. It would have been swept under the rug, but she reported on it. Bless your heart. But what she doesn’t know is the Virginia State Police found a bunch of drugs in Ron Belcher’s security car and he’s not been charged yet. Hopefully he will and hopefully the reporter of The
will follow up on this.
If you are a 70-year-old man interested in meeting a 70-year-old woman, I walk to a certain convenience store every morning between 9 and 11 a.m.
I don’t know what I have done, but I can tell you what you have done. You have made druggies out of all the local children around here to keep your sorry rear from working.
How can a certain woman stand up in church and ask for prayer for all of the drug dealers when her own husband is selling his pain pills every month to a certain place?
I made a comment when I read in The Mountain Eagle
one week that a woman had dragged her child or somebody’s child with her car. It was misprinted in Speak Your Piece, saying a woman had drugged her child. It wasn’t drugging. She had dragged her child. That’s what I meant. It was awful for her to do such a thing.
Okay, county workers, all 25 of you. You have families and you’ve been done wrong by Jim Ward. It’s time to vote for a Republican and get this all straightened up. I forgot what the Republican’s name is. I found it right here. Gerald Baker, Republican for county judge/executive. Alright, let’s put a Republican in and try something different. Apparently the Democrats are not helping.
You better watch your neighbor’s daughter. You’ll find out soon enough.
To all citizens of Letcher County: Are we going to let Jim Banks and Archie Ward continue to destroy our county? They waste money on things that won’t ever do us any good and can’t even give the county workers a 25-cent raise. The judge lets Archie talk mean to our citizens during court meetings. I am ashamed to have him as a magistrate in District Two. Hopefully it won’t be much longer. And the judge talks good to your face, but then behind your back you are a pure devil. We need a good, honest, Christian man like Gerald Baker for judge. I know he wouldn’t let magistrates talk mean to our citizens and he would put people first. I guarantee he would give county workers a raise. On Election Day let’s show them that money can’t buy everything. Let’s give Letcher County back to the people.
I called a couple of weeks ago about a nursing facility in the Cumberland area. Well, I went back to take a friend of mine to see a couple of his friends and I have to say someone needs to be called into this facility. I’m old and I don’t know who to call. We were there around noon sitting in a resident’s room visiting. The girls were out passing lunch trays to everyone and I heard one of them say she was going to eat one of the residents’ dessert. I was appalled. These people need to get off their hind ends and do something about this place. I read last time in Speak Your Piece where a nurse was taking a patient’s medicine and probably giving him Tylenol. This is sad. Why doesn’t the director of nursing watch these nurse aides better? I’m in there at least twice a week and every time I am in there I notice something. Who could I call about this? Please let me know in next week’s Speak Your Piece. I don’t want myself or any of my family put in that place.
I was just wondering about the Riverside Festival. I noticed all of the other festivals in town are nonprofit, but someone told me that is a for-profit organization. If so, how come there are no financial reports or anything to do with that? Someone needs to look into that.
I went down to the Letcher County Board of Education one day this week. The greeter was a young girl with earrings in her lip and a ring in her nose. Why should they have a dress code for the kids when they let that go on at the Board of Education? I think that is a disgrace to the public.
Why is that a local person can go to the doctor’s office and they get the run around from Whitesburg to Jenkins to Hazard to wherever, but if a Mexican or an Arab comes in they get taken care of all the way?
(When and where were
you forced to sit and wait
while patients from other nationalities
were being seen?)
Please fix us back together. I love you and I will always love you forever. I miss you so. Don’t give up on us. Please fix us. Our little boy needs us and I need you. You will never forget it. I promise. From the one who loves you and always will.
I see where the fiscal court at its Aug. 16 meeting named roads and bridges for several veterans. A bridge located on Route 7 near Loves Branch is to be named for Captain Robert Bates in recognition for his service in the Civil War. The obvious problem with the court’s decision is that Captain Bates fought for the rebels against the armed forces of the United States. I’m not sure that a majority of veterans, certainly not the descendants of Union soldiers killed by the enemy during the Civil War, believe it is proper to recognize a soldier for the rebellion as a veteran of the armed forces of the United States. What do you think?
Hey, Jimbo, old buddy. Don’t quit. You’re tough. You can handle. You have just hit a low spot. Don’t be laying that poor, old weak stuff on us. Nobody wants to hear that. Look what you have told us in your articles. That shows that God has blessed you and is still with you. He still has a lot more in store for you. So look on the bright side. Get up and get with the program.
Take your apples and cram them where the sun doesn’t shine.
How are those pajamas fitting? How did you get away with it? Did you pay a small fine or get a slap on the wrist? Or did you get in front of the judge and start crying and claiming that you are bipolar? And now you are back in Blair Branch doing your same old, same old wheeling and dealing. You are smarter than everyone thinks you are.
This is to my daughter who lives in Cumberland: This is your mom, Regina. I love you with all of my heart and soul. So if you read The
read Speak Your Piece for mom and you will see your little message. Mom loves you, girl. I miss you. Bye.
I was calling to tell me my son, Adam, and my daughter in-law, Savannah, and my two grandkids, Haylee and Blair, Mamaw and Papaw love you all and we miss you a lot.
Mom, this is your daughter. I was wanting to let you know through Speak Your Piece that I love you. Even though you don’t want to be a part of my life, I want you in mine. I love you and miss you a lot. Come and see me sometime. I don’t have a vehicle, but am fixing to. I love you a lot. Your one and only daughter. Your son loves you, too. Bye.
Is it true that Jim Ward might run for state representative after this term coming up? Good. We will get a new judge.
To Letcher County Deputy Judge Eddie Meade: Look ahead. You’ll find the right track.
I really enjoy hearing people talk about privatized retirement. I have a private retirement plan. The stories that my agent told me 20 years ago were bait and switch. They told me I could get my retirement check on the first day of the month or any day I chose. I chose the first day of the month. However, I didn’t realize the complications. The retirement plan has to send the check to the company I work for and the company I work for releases the money to me. I usually get my private pension plan check on the 11th of the month unless it is late. If the stock market or my employer goes under, my private pension goes under too. That is what the Republicans want to do with Social Security.
I pray that Jim Ward and Archie Banks are never lying in a ditch injured. No one in Letcher County would stop and help.
We are very sorry to hear about Delmer Fields passing away, and Raymond Lewis McCool as well. They’ll both be sadly missed. Our deepest sympathy goes out to their families. Print this please? Thank you, Stanley Pack.
Concerning the comment from Ms. Corvette: You didn’t bother to tell that you are an antique. If I gather my information correctly, prior to four years ago your spouse got tired of an older model and traded for a newer one that wasn’t as worn out. So live with it. It’s history in the making. Signed, Mr. High Performance.
Jim Ward, you have lost my vote. You do not respect the common Joe. Archie Banks has taken you under. I have talked to all of my family, and they agree. I appreciate Wayne Fleming because he is the only man in the fiscal court that’s a real man. The judge called John Lucas down but would not call Archie Banks down. You are over. Gerald Baker is the man.
Okay Jim Ward. Don’t call my house and ask for a vote. This whole fiscal court is full of it. I will be giving Mr. Baker my vote.
I think we will be welcoming another judge this fall. Mr. Lucas is twice the man that the fiscal court ever produced in this term. Wonder how they will try to get rid of Lucas. I’m sure it will happen on down the road. If I were in his shoes, I would have it on the 6 o’clock news that I was threatened by a fiscal court member. I would go out of this county and get a lawyer. The lawyer sitting in on the court meetings is not going to cross the court. I work as a bus driver, or should I say ‘just a bus driver,’ and I am just as good as that snobby fiscal court. I will never, and I mean never, vote for one of you. It’s too bad I am not in Wayne Fleming’s district, then I would reconsider. He is the only one who has the kahunas to be his own man. I think Codell Gibson died and the funeral home forgot to tell him. Bobby Lewis needs to look and see what is going on around him. Keith Adams, you were a county worker at one time, and you are the redneck who should have stood up for a county worker. As I see it, this was more about the treatment than the pay raise. That is going to cost some votes. From my understanding, you have to work in the judge’s office before you deserve a pay raise.
