Speak Your Piece

This little message is to the subhuman who said I was a crook, a thief and the scum of the earth: You are right, but let me tell you something, you lowdown, sorry, freeloading Sponge- Bob hypocrite. That still makes me better than you, because I don’t talk about other people in such pejorative and unexpurgated language. This is the M.P. speaking and I stand by this declaration.

This is for the scum that killed Mark Sturgill, my friend: No level of hell is hot enough for you. You’re a disgrace.

Attention Letcher County School Board: It’s 2010 and time to prove to the children of Letcher County School System that health is important to you. Eliminate all smoking at all school activities. Children should not have to dodge people smoking to get in and out of school activities. This is ridiculous. It’s like the Stone Age. It’s time to get up to date. Hello.

It’s a shame the people that have money to buy for their children at Christmas have ruined it for the people that don’t have money to buy for their children. The taking away of Tree of Hope has hurt a lot of little kids.

To a certain person: I really think it is funny, but you are sick. I know I wouldn’t pass a letter around naming all the nasty men you are bragging about being with. There are some things you should keep to yourself.

 Gobble, gobble.

You say I am going to get time off for good behavior. Well, gee thanks. I am honored. If you’ll stop making an idiot out of yourself for crying over spilt milk and just do the Walmart cheer, maybe you’ll feel better.

I was just wondering since the Whitesburg First Baptist Church got involved in politics, can it still be tax exempt?

I haven’t heard the King or Chuck Johnson on Back Tracks in a long time. I don’t know what is going on down at the Appalshop radio station, but I wish they would get it fixed. I sure do miss those old boys.

Instead of ‘nifty, nifty look who is 50,’ it is ‘wow you are still overweight, grouchy and now 50.’ Belated happy birthday.

The other day I was at a certain grocery store where they were running a special on a certain cola product, three for $11. The lady in front of me had about 12 packs of soda and used her food stamp card to get it. I said, okay the lady is smart and is planning ahead for the month. I was about three in line behind her. She left and I got my groceries. I came out and there she was at a tobacco store unloading the soda pop out of her trunk to trade for cigarettes or who knows what. I’m not a nosy-type person, but I work everyday. This is wrong, and it’s one of those things that is on my mind.

To the new mayor of Jenkins: We need a state police outpost in Jenkins.

God Almighty says do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be kind. Be gentle. What if He come down here and saw a molested little five-yearold girl or a molested fiveyear old little boy? What would He have done? Can He come down here and show us how to come out of that and still do the things He wants us to do? Well, if He can, come on down.

The Jenkins Independent School System is a bunch of bull this year. Our test scores stink. There are hazing problems. There are bus drivers out breaking confidentiality by telling stories on kids. You’ve got ball coaches that aren’t classified. You’ve got people playing in their alumni game that never went to school in Jenkins. I understand why no one wants to go there.

I hav e nev er bee n a big fan of Jesse Ventura, but I have been watching his show ‘Conspiracy Theory’ on Friday night at 10 p.m. on truTV. It’s very informative. The government keeps a lot of secrets from the people. Knowledge is power. Always check out the facts yourself. Not every conspiracy theory is a theory.

I live on Pine Creek and I am calling regarding two women who live on Pine Creek. I wish they would mind their own business and not spread rumors on people they don’t even know.

The high school at Jenkins used to be the top in the state. I don’t know what in the world has happened. And the incident that was in the paper last week, there is just no authority over there. The parents of these children that did something like that should be investigated too. Parents that don’t teach their children more than that, the children should be jerked out of those homes. I think it is a shame.

Alright, Jenkins school board members, you got what you wanted. You got rid of your site-based council to get the public out of everything so you could make all the decisions, so let’s see how you handle it. Hazing, ball coaches not certified, bus drivers breaking confidentiality, low test scores. Come on, do I need to name more?

We are dealing with major issues of mountaintop removal, mining safety violations, and continuing gas drilling abuse. We have just gone through one of the dirtiest elections in memory. Does The Mountain Eagle have any opinions on these? If so, I, and probably many more of your readers, would like to see those opinions in editorials.

The Mountain Eagle
disappeared during the election four years ago, and Archie Banks disappeared in the election this time. See any relationship, Archie? What goes around comes around. But what will lapdog Jim do when his puppet master is not around to pull his strings?

We want to wish Ivan and Joyce Whitaker a very happy anniversary on November 27. We hope you have many more. We love you and the girls very much. Hopefully we will see you at the picnic next year. So have a great time celebrating your day. Love, your Aunt Katie and Uncle Preach.

To whom it may concern: This is a former inmate of the popular Letcher County Jail. I would like to clear up a few misconceptions. First, I would like to say to Mr. Don McCall that I personally have contacted the Kool-Aid Man himself and he said to inform you that good old LCJ is not on any Kool-Aid budget to his knowledge, and he is willing to make donations. He also wanted me to include, ‘Oh yeah.’ There was also mention of cold breakfasts. This statement was partially incorrect. All meals served in your fine establishment are cold. This could possibly be because you purposely park the food cart under the air conditioner vent, which is constantly on. I would like to add that I personally contacted Oprah Winfrey and Tom Cruise, and they told me that they were going to contact Kotex and tell them the way you treat the poor women by not giving them any hygiene products for weeks at a time. I would also like to say hello to all my friends in B7. If you have any comments, I can be found at New Beginnings in Dryden, Va., rehabilitating my life. I could possibly run against you next election and win, because I know more about your jail than you do. That’s all I’ve got. Hope to hear from you if you have any advice or suggestions to give me after I win the election. You’ll know where I am.

Will someone tell me if the school system is going to pot? Does the superintendent not know what the Lady in Waiting (for the superintendant’s position) is up to? Has she not heard the rumors and does she not know what the Lady in Waiting is doing on company time? The Lady in Waiting is allowing certain people to work in positions that she should not, and all because the man of the hour tells her what he wants to happen. Come on, Mrs. Craft, you are supposedly a smart woman. Clean up your house. It is the talk of the town, and one more black eye on the school district.

The government channel’s excellent video on the North Fork of the Kentucky River gives a sobering view of a vital resource. The message is clear; no one can point a finger on this one. We and our ancestors are all to blame for the condition of our rivers, and we had all better be trying to figure a way out. Our health and the health of our descendants demands it. Water plants were never designed to handle this magnitude and variety of pollutants, which are already taking their toll on us.

We all know a certain young man didn’t do anything wrong to another man’s trailer. If he did anything at all, he bettered it. On top of that, I had work done up there and was charged for it, but the problem never even got fixed. Not only that, I got a used tire and it didn’t last over an hour because the belts were broke. Come to find out, he doesn’t even have a permit to have the place open or do work on our cars. Leave the boy alone and get a life.

Hear ye, hear ye, parents in Letcher County: Be on the lookout for your precious kids. If you are financially insecure, Judge Wright and Social Services are involuntarily terminating your rights as parents. Yes, that’s right, it happened this week. So I guess this means parents who run out of money between paychecks and are not financially secure are in big trouble. Take your kids and run as fast as you can out of Letcher County where Social Services and Judge Wright can’t take your children away from you. If you are considered poor, they don’t like you and listen to lies from family members, and you are next in line for terminating your rights as parents. Please take heed and listen up.

I like to be able to watch all the government meetings without going to town, and I like to see the festivals and shows without fighting a crowd. I really liked the blacksmith show. That guy knows what he is doing, and he explains everything in a down to earth way. I would like to see more things like that. The government channel is a good thing and I think it will cause a lot more interest in the way the county is run.

You know what grinds my gears? People who whine that they’re ‘on a fixed income.’ Well, pretty much everyone I know is on a ‘fixed income,’ including those of us who work. It’s not only those drawing a check whose income remains the same every month, you know. My husband and I both work — and have the same income, month after month. So suck it up and get a job — a little more income than being on the draw, but not as easy, huh? Whining about being ‘poor people’ and how they are ‘treated’ is self-defeating. Get a job, and then you can whine about being the ‘working poor.’ No one owes me my living, and I don’t owe the ‘poor people’ an easy life. Life’s tough for everyone. Stop whining and grow up.

I can understand why politicians shouldn’t have health insurance and I can understand why people who don’t work shouldn’t have health insurance, but both of them do. I just can’t understand why working people and taxpayers have no health insurance and people are opposed to them getting it. I think the motto should be ‘no health insurance, no pay taxes.’

Something needs to be done better about the West Whitesburg school parking. It’s out of hand. There’s not enough room. In the mornings it’s ridiculous, with cars parking too far out in the road where other cars can’t get by. How do they expect your child to get to school when they cannot get by? Can’t the cop guys see that when they are down there? I have heard so many complains about this, and I’m tired hearing it. Also another thing: I have kids that goes to WMS and they can’t get there on time because of all the West Whitesburg grade school kids’ parents pulling out in front of everyone while they already have their child dropped off to school. Stay in your lane until others get their kids to school. This is such a big problem and it needs to be fixed. I think we pay enough taxes to help make the parking lot much bigger. I know the cops try to do their job the best they can, but gosh, please help. We need better parking and a better way to get our middle school kids to school without waiting in line for all the grade school students to get out. And then they keep pulling in front of us, making all the others late. Please help fix this problem. Thank you.
