Speak Your Piece

Our love is like a circle. It will never be broken. And you are my light, my sunshine and my angel. I love you very much.

To the certain preacher talking about men and women dying their hair: I don’t think dying their hair hurts their health like smoking does. Their hair may make them go bald, but it won’t hurt their lungs a bit.

It’s a dirty shame that they have let the dogs take over in Whitco. We’ve called the county judge. We’ve called that sorry dogcatcher. They won’t do a doggone thing about it, and I am tired of the dogs tearing flowers off the graveyard and using the bathroom in my yard. I think somebody ought to get a hot streak under that dogcatcher and make him do something in Whitco about these rotten, stinking dogs. People drop off the dogs down here and then we have to put up with their nastiness and tearing up the flowers and graveyard. Judge, why don’t you get on the ball?

Attention Letcher County School Board: This is referring to a game at Letcher, where a parent actually attacked another child playing in a ballgame. This is so ridiculous. You need to provide security for our children at every school, at every activity, and at every game. It is time to step up like other schools. There needs to be some type of security at every school.

To the person who called in saying they called Walmart and could never get their call through: It’s not the associates that won’t answer, it is the lady that answers the phone. She has been there for years and she needs to retire. When you go in you need to explain this to management. She has been there for years and she doesn’t know what she is doing.

I would like to know if there is an animal rights act in Letcher County. There was a woman who brought a puppy down to UZ and she doesn’t even live down here. She said she got it for a little boy. It ran in front of a garbage truck. It was bleeding and I tried all day to get it some help. Can someone please help these animals that are being treated so badly? This little puppy has suff ered all day. Can someone please respond and let me know?

You begin to wonder how Kentucky people can continue to vote for people such as Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul and the other Republicans who suck up to the rich, and then reality begins to bite you. Truth is, a lot of the people who should know better than to vote the way they do actually grew up poor, got just a little educated and eventually landed a job in Lexington or Louisville. Even though most of them still make less than $50,000 a year, they actually believe they’re among the rich people the Republicans are taking up for.

I wish this man that keeps calling Speak Your Piece about his sunshine would take her so his family and his sunshine will both find out what a phony he really is.

I guess we aren’t seeing a certain white van driving up and down Sandlick like they own the whole hollow.

For a while I thought Christmas might be canceled this year. I was going to Grandma’s house and I ran over Santa’s reindeer. According to their nametags on their tail fenders they were Buddy, Louize, Lukey, Headie, Curtie, Attie, Nito and Betti. But not to worry, Braden and Jayden, you may have a merry Christmas after all. I missed Rudolf by a red nose. Ho! Ho! Ho!

This message is to the person who put a belated happy birthday message in Speak Your Piece on Dec. 1: I was just wondering how old this person is that you sent the message to; and please give me a hint as to who you might be. Please respond next week.

I saw you recently and asked you to call me. I just wanted you to know I am still waiting on that call. Please call anytime you want. If I am not here, please leave a message.

Attention Letcher County School Board: Could you please step up to the plate and take care of smoking on school grounds at all school activities and ballgames for the health and safety of our children? You say this is important, so please give this to us.

I can’t believe the Tree of Hope is still being done this year. I have called several people and places and was told that it was not. My child has been on it for the past several years and so have a lot of my friends and family. Out of all of those people no one knew that the Tree of Hope was being organized this year. And this year I really needed it with not having a job. I can’t believe they put it in the paper that it is still going on and then saying that they quit taking names more than two weeks ago. They should have put it in the paper back in November instead of when it was already over. A lot of kids this year will not get anything because they didn’t know it was going on. And believe me, I know a lot of kids and their parents did not know it was going on.

Crystal, you need to tell your family member or your friend, old Red, that she needs to call me so we can resolve this problem.

I know you are not the only angel in heaven, but you are the only one God sent for me and I love you with all of my heart.

This is from the person that had all of the jewelry stolen: I called Speak Your Piece about it a few weeks ago, and I was very kind and generous in that message to everyone. This one is not kind and generous. I found out the first present my husband ever bought me has been stolen, my leather duster. The duster makes pants so when you ride you can wrap them around your legs and snap them. There are ways of telling that it is mine. There is no doubt in my mind that I can identify it with my eyes shut. My husband is now dead and the first person I see wearing that leather duster will regret the day they stole it. I don’t care if I go to jail over this, it would be worth it to make you pay for everything you have stolen from me. I have prayed and forgave you but it doesn’t mean I have to like you, like what you did or anything else. God only tells me that I have to forgive you. I can do that. I can forgive you for stealing from me because you have to tolerate fools and morons. I know who took it and, big boy, you know it was either you or one of the thieves you brought over that distracted me while they robbed me blind. I do have the baggie with the fingerprints on it. I cannot tell you how mad I am. All I can say is that I really need to pray to stay calm right now. I am within an inch of hurting the person I see in that black leather duster. You will pay dearly for it and I don’t mean physically. It will cost you everything you own and if you have children I will make sure you never get to see them again. I know you have boys who play football. When I get done calling your ex-wife you will never see your children again, because you snort pills. Your prescription is gone in two days. Your girlfriend uses half the food stamps and gives the other half to her son. They should all be for him. She breaks all of the rules. A home invasion, that is a joke. I know the real story. Bring back my leather duster. I am not playing. Don’t think I am. Don’t come up my hollow for anything. You have been warned. I fear you therefore if you come up my property I must protect myself. That’s Kentucky state law. Look it up. God bless you.

I wonder why in the world we put Danny Webb back in as sheriff . I called for a deputy the other night and they said it would be just a little bit and no one ever came — not the whole night long. I think this is a shame. I thought that is why we elected Danny Webb as sheriff , so we would have a deputy when we need one. I don’t understand what the problem was, but I think that is poor service.

If you appreciate good music and good audio equipment, please boycott THIEL products. THIEL Audio is based in Lexington and is a designer and manufacturer of highquality speaker systems. If like me you own THIEL products, I invite you to get on Ebay and sell them off as quickly as possible and replace them with some other high-quality brand. Turns out that THIEL is a company that goes against everything it should stand for and in some cases does proclaim to stand for. I just sold my THIEL speakers after I learned this company supports extreme right-wing candidates and causes. Just this month, THIEL sponsored a fundraiser at its plant in Lexington for Phil Moff ett, a far right-wing candidate for governor of Kentucky. THIEL also claims to be ‘a green company,’ yet it supports candidates for office who support the destruction of our environment. The people who run THIEL make their living off the backs of many professional recording musicians who can’t afford health insurance, yet THIEL supports the repeal of the health care reform act which gives these musicians access to good affordable health care for the first time in their adult lives. The politics of companies such as THIEL need to be made public. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do just that.

On Saturday, Dec. 3 I witnessed a true small-town act of kindness. The snow had caused the road to be slick, causing a woman to slide her car into a ditch in front of Calvary Temple Church. A group of men got together and engineered a way to pull the car out of a ditch. Another man got the car road-ready and she went on her way. Thank God for a hometown and its people.

We wanted to wish Gavin Tyler Guthrie a very happy first birthday on Dec. 2. Love, Mommy, Daddy, and Sissy, Mamaw and Papaw, Auntie and Uncle.

I’m so very sorry to hear about Corbin Brashears passing away. He was a very close neighbor, relative, and special friend who will be sadly missed. Please print this for me. Thank you, Stanley Pack.
