This is to the old coot who said again that I didn’t want really anything in Whitesburg and thought I was living in 1955: For your information I was born after 1955. I don’t care what is going on in New York, but if you like it so good you just need to go on and stay there. There are a lot of businesses I have mentioned that haven’t tried anything in Whitesburg. I guess you haven’t been around here that long. Other towns and businesses grow. I don’t know why we can’t. And I do want something in our area and I would love to be able to come to town and shop all day, have dinner, watch a movie and then drive home.

.

I love you with all of my heart. You are still my angel, and I love you.

.

Are women out there? I am single but looking. I don’t drink. I don’t do drugs. I go to church. Please respond.

.

Jenkins has a petition to sell alcohol by the drink. There is already a bar in Jenkins where you can buy all the whiskey you want and get as drunk as you want. So why are they taking up a petition now?

.

To the big kahuna: These rising gas prices might not be hurting the economy, but they are sure wreaking havoc on the poor. They sent me a letter wanting me to contribute to your campaign. I wouldn’t vote for you if you were running for dogcatcher. We’ve got a thug in the White House. I don’t know if God approves of you or not. There sure are a lot of people who don’t approve of you. Bow down and think about what you are doing. God bless America. We are Americans that you are wreaking havoc on. God bless the poor.

.

To Honey, it’s not your music everybody has quit coming around for, it’s the old woman that won’t keep her mouth shut. Maybe if someone would put a stop to her there would be more decent people coming around.

.

Who has never tasted what is bitter does not know what is sweet.

.

Remember, the more you know the less you fear.

.

You are my baby doll and really love you. You are my angel.

.

Whoever told that my niece was seen in a pair of pants had better get their tale straight. That’s something I have never seen her in since she got saved, and that has probably been 35 years ago. She and her husband don’t have a television set in their house. And I’m sure she doesn’t wear pants. People are too quick to talk. It is not true. She did not wear pants. You did not see her in pants. Open up your eyes and tell the truth every once in a while.

.

This is a message to anyone who can speak for Wright’s Church in Jenkins: I am trying to find out the dress code and time of services on Sunday. Please reply in next week’s Speak Your Piece.

.

Attention Letcher County School Board: If we give you a report card as far as controlling smoking on school property, you would fail, completely fail. I even saw a bus driver smoking under the covered sidewalk on school property at 7: 30 a. m. on Wednesday. You need to take care of this issue. It is time.

.

Hey, Letcher County. I have an idea. Let’s let all of the dope heads out of jail and turn them lose on their families to raise Cain with them and aggravate the people trying to raise their children. And let’s raise taxes on all of the taxpaying citizens and build them a recreation center there in Whitesburg. No wait, that’s already being done. Sorry about that.

.

Where are Brushy Bill and old Barney?

.

To the imbecile that said should be ashamed to hold my head up in church: For your information, everybody likes me at my church. You need to worry about what people are saying about you. At least I have a marriage license for what I do, imbecile.

.

This is the R.A. Those who knew you knew you well. Those who didn’t will meet you in hell.

.

This is to a certain woman in Stinking Branch: Don’t you know it is against the law to buy food stamps? Well, I know who you buy from and I know you are taking food out of babies’ mouths. You do this one more time and I am going to report you and I am going to report the ones who are selling food stamps to you. You know this is against the law. You will go to jail for that. Don’t you have enough money as it is?

.

Looks like the Jenkins Independent School System is up to its old tricks again. Kentucky state law says any kid schooled at home cannot participate in sports, but I guess that doesn’t count if your parents are teachers at the school.

.

I see a certain man and his red-headed girlfriend every day and can’t tell who is uglier, him or her.

. I would like to know who the hottie is that works at M and R Garage — the one that drives a white work truck.

.

Your cousin likes me. She says I am too good for you.

.

Why is gas 20 cents higher in Whitesburg and Pikeville? I can go to Lexington or to Tri-Cities and come back home and gas is always higher here.

.

Google ‘Food the Ultimate Secret Exposed’ by Alex Jones. See what is in your food supply. You need to know what you are putting into your body.

.

I’m going to a ballgame tonight. I hope I get to see another referee beat up.

.

Hey City of Jenkins, if you want a hospital in Jenkins you are going to have to put a Walmart in the industrial park. That way they can put a hospital in the Walmart.

.

Speak Your Piece, you have put in many things I have called in, but when I have called in about abortions and murders – 4,500 children a day. Why won’t you put it in there? Are you on the side of murderers and hate little children that bad? I would like to think not.

.

This is in regard to the comment about the lover on the mountain at the club. First of all, this woman doesn’t have a lover. I’m 66 years old. I don’t need a lover and if I find out who put this in the paper and who told this man’s wife a bunch of stuff about me I am going to whip your hind end. There better never be another piece in the paper concerning me and any man. I don’t want a man. If you all would tend to your own business and not worry about everyone else’s business, you would be a hell of a lot better off. You hear me? You better not call anything else in the paper insinuating it’s me. I know it was about me because this man’s wife called me very upset. We had been friends for a very long time. It’s a shame that you nosey, lying, backbiting, conniving pieces of crap would put something in the paper like this to try to destroy people’s lives. I hope you are happy. I’ll tell you one thing, there better never be another piece in this paper about me. Do you understand me? You will be in court. I will hire the best lawyer I can find. If you’ve got two pennies. one of them will be this old girl’s. You take that to the bank with you, honey. You have a good day, you nosey people.

.

I’d like to say hi to my friend in Ashland. I love you, bubby. I miss you.

.

I hope the evil person that told all of the lies on me to a certain good woman and messes with so many lives can lie down and sleep at night. You know they are good people. You haven’t just hurt me; you have hurt them, too. Whoever you are, you have told a horrible lie about me having an affair with a married man. I am not, I never have, and never will. You are an evil person. And just think of how many people you have hurt. You better get on your knees and pray. God will deal with you when you least expect it. I hope you are happy and sleep real good at night. Evidently you can, because you don’t have a conscience.

.

I thank the Lord for an angel like you. You are my angel and I love you with all of my heart. You will always be in my heart and I love you.

.

Dear A. We are currently incarcerated at this time, but we’ll soon be united once again. Can’t wait until that day comes for us to walk in front of those who don’t like us. We once had everything together, but we’ve always had our love that has kept us best friends. Now our love has bonded once again. Let us be together forever. Love, T.J.

.

Wishing some people we love happy birthdays: late happy birthday to Trena Wagner Hart; happy birthday Charles Wagner, March 15; Steve Wagner, March 20; and Shelia Wagner Brown, March 21. We love you!

.

I would like to meet a nice Catholic man for a friendship and romance if it works out. Age 35-65. Please send your responses to: M.A.T., Box 311, Neon, KY 41840. This man needs to be financially secure. I am 43, 5’6”, auburn hair, brown eyes. Please enclose a picture.

.

I feel like I am beating my head against a stone wall because most people don’t seem to care. But I am like the proverbial ram, butting the dam. The latest information out on the customs agents who were in Mexico is that the assault weapon that was used was one of a shipment that was sent to Mexico by our own DEA, and sanctioned by the Justice Department. Their reason they used was that they would track them to see where they went, which they failed to do. This was, at best, a stupid move, given the situation in Mexico. If you read ‘Kid News’ in the March 2 edition of The Mountain Eagle, you saw that 12-yearold Cynthia Valdez caused two Hispanic male robbers to be caught. They were also in possession of a stolen Cadillac. She was lucky that they did not discover her because it is very likely that she would have been raped and possibly murdered.

.

To the person who said Jerome Boggs is now at Luther Luckett Facility: Thank you for the update as some of us do care about the whereabouts of that lowlife. I’ll be getting in touch with some of my brothers soon. Life will not be so comfortable for him on the inside, nor should it be. No, we haven’t forgotten that tragic day. With all due respect to the family members of ‘Blister’ and little T.J., it matters. The Kentucky Ridgerunner.

.

To my love Higgie: I want to thank you for the letters and visits from you. I know we have been through a lot and you are still confused. I understand you don’t like to be alone. Just know I still love you and I will always be here waiting. I refuse to let anything or anyone jeopardize that. I will continue leaving you these reminders of how much you mean to me until I can see you again. You are always on my mind and forever in my heart. Love, Dew.

Jesse James robbed the rich and gave to the poor. The UK Athletic Department robbed the taxpayers of our state and gave unreasonable salaries to the athletic department. Could there be collusion in the athletic department? I know, as do other Kentuckians, that President Lee Todd’s reason for justifying the pay raise is that athletics at UK/other colleges make enough from their sports programs to operate without state funds. How can those unreasonable salaries be given to this department when other personnel have not had a pay raise in three or four years? The state had problems passing a budget until federal funds were passed out to the individual states. Foreclosure on people’s homes, workers unemployed, no insurance, families cannot buy the necessities of life, and there is validation to these salaries? I think this was a ‘bone-head’ decision relative to the financial status of our state. You were given recognition for being a ‘good Samaritan,’ and raising money to the sum of multi-million dollars and sending this money to the earthquake victims in Haiti, but when people had flooding problems in eastern Kentucky, a paltry sum of money was sent to them. The big money contributors who have reached the pinnacle of success should take a step back and reevaluate your contributions to the Big Blue for future innovations in the sports programs. Transparency is an issue that the government today does not want the American people to be aware of from the local to the federal level of government. They don’t want the American people to know how their tax money is spent, and as individuals they think we do not have the intelligence to decipher their government activities. Most of the world today is indulged in materialism. God is aware of the good, the bad, and the ugly that permeates our society today.

I’m not stupid — got that? Not stupid. I just get tired of fussing, arguing and trying to stand up for myself. Not stupid.

I feel so sorry for this young man who lives with his grandparents. He showed me a digital video camera of a diary he had been keeping. I watched his grandfather roll him down a staircase while someone was yelling, ‘kill him.’ At a Rook tournament he had a recording on his cell phone of people he said are his grandparents telling him to get a job. Evidently he pulls out his résumé and asks them to take it to drop it off, and a man he identifies as his grandfather tells him no, that he does not want the young man to succeed. I hear a lot about elder abuse and it disgusts me, but after watching those videos and tapes, it made me feel like he was the one being abused. What kind of father or grandfather tells their son they don’t want him to succeed? You seemed a very smart young man. If you read this, I hope the very best for you.

.

To Ross Kegan: I see that you did not reply to the article in the paper about a certain employee at the coal company you run using a company truck for personal use and meeting women on company time. I have also seen this employee at the park at the dam in Pound and the old road going up the mountain and on top of Jenkins Mountain, and a couple of spots past the cutoff at Jenkins going toward Pikeville. Someone told me the woman he is seeing is from Pike County. I can identify the truck for you — color, make and license number — if you will reply.

.

Summit City is the biggest joke in Letcher County.

.

I hear many of you talk about this one and that one, and I would like to say you need to look at yourselves first. I mean, I can talk to someone going to church and think it the biggest joke around. I mean this one certain church will tell you that you stay in the ground until Judgment Day, then turn around and say the rich guys are in hell asking for water. Of course, this is the same place that this guy fired three people, laid one off, caused another one to break their legs, almost caused one to drop out of college, one to draw unemployment and another one to sue. So is this really what you want to teach your kids? Also, I know this church hates gays, but I also know that if one of their little girls become pregnant you better know this church would get rid of it. So you better think where you are taking your kid .I also know that some of their members break up homes.

In the March 2 issue, a caller was thinking that high oil and gasoline prices was because of state government and was going to call the governor. You, the editor, replied the reason was the turmoil in Libya, because Libya was one of the world’s largest oil producers. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the United States imports about 4.3 billion barrels annually, which is about 51% of the oil it uses. The other 49% is produced in the United States. The imported oil comes from the following sources: Canada 21.2%, Mexico 10.4%, Venezuela 9.1%, Saudia Arabia 8.6%, Nigeria 6.9%, Russia 4.8%, Algeria 4.2%, Angola 3.9%, Iraq 3.9%, and Brazil 2.6%. This accounts for 75.6% of the U.S. imports. The other 24.4% comes from other countries, of which Libya exports .7% to the United States. Seven tenths of one percent is very little and should not be the cause of high oil and gasoline prices. Most of Libya’s oil exports go to Spain and Italy, according the above mentioned source.

(Thanks for the enlightening information. Still, the turmoil in Libya is being blamed for the recent spike in gas prices all across the U.S.)

.

In the February 23 issue, caller said that he bet the people of Wisconsin were sorry they voted Republican. The caller went on to say that President Ronald Reagan appointed a Supreme Court justice that was the deciding vote in the Roe v. Wade decision approving abortion in 1973. I think the caller may have his dates wrong. Ronald Reagan was not elected president until November 1980. It would have been pretty hard for him to appoint a Supreme Court justice seven years before he was elected. Just goes to show some uneducated people will run their mouth with having all the facts.

(Is the caller uneducated, as you say, or did he or she simply make a slip of the tongue and confuse the Supreme Court’s original ruling in 1973 with a later ruling in 1992 that upheld Roe v. Wade? Sandra Day O’Connor, who was appointed by President Reagan, wrote the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Roe v. Wade in a June 1992 case known as Planned Parenthood v. Casey.)

.

The local and state offi cials seemed to me to be trying to play the diesel fuel leaks down and make us forget them. The ones that I really feel sorry for are the people on dialysis who have gotten no help and just have to figure things out for themselves. That’s disgraceful.

.

This is to the lady with light brown hair that was at Walmart last Wednesday evening wearing the tan brown dress pants: You are one pretty lady.

.

The school people say they shouldn’t take a decrease in money. However, they don’t have a problem with taking more money for your electric bill, your telephone bill, and your natural gas bill. They get more money, but they just say they don’t increase the tax because the percentage of your bill stays the same even though you pay more money.

.

This is to a certain man in Letcher County: We have talked for a little while on Facebook lately, and I have known you for years. I meant every word that I said the other night. There was a lot of questions that I asked that you couldn’t answer. I think it’s because you were afraid to be honest, because I know deep in your heart and your mind you were thinking the same thing I was. You can say all you want to that you don’t know if you would or not, but I really think and believe that if you had the opportunity then you would take it. I created a new e-mail address that only I know, and if you ever change your mind, maybe in the near future, then e-mail me at bigblueeyes81@yahoo.com. I hope to hear from you soon, and I think maybe I will.
