Does anybody out there agree with me about all the officials’ kids who get in trouble? Every time they get in trouble they get out of it, and I don’t think it is right when other people’s kids are treated differently and don’t get out of trouble. I think all should be treated the same. The kids don’t have anything to do with the government. I just don’t agree with that. They need to be put behind bars, too, just like the other kids.

.

I’d like to say something about Hospice of the Bluegrass. I have always heard that Hospice was great at taking care of people, but I’ve changed my mind about that. I know somebody who has been seriously ill and they just up and dropped him because of their little reasons. If it was me and I had two weeks to live, I wouldn’t want them. I don’t appreciate anything they have done for my family anymore.

.

I’d like to talk about an incident that occurred back during the Mountain Heritage Festival. My daughter and I were arrested by a Whitesburg police officer. I feel that we are being harassed by him. In fact, he brought up an assault charge on my daughter because she bumped his chest during an incident. He tried to give her 15 years because of that. I think it is a shame when a 95-pound girl is charged with assault on an officer who probably weighs 230 pounds. This is a laughing disgrace. This is her dad by the way.

.

Why doesn’t the lady pick up the garbage around her steps and yard? She has to walk over it. This is nasty and is attracting rats and mice. This is an eyesore in our neighborhood. Maybe the health department could do something.

.

Hey y’all. That mule that was running around on the highway at Whitesburg is old Barney. Brushy Bill cut him loose. Now that he is running for president, he figures he doesn’t need him anymore. He won’t fit in down there in Washington, D.C. Old Barney was trying to find his way back to the mountains. If you find him, pick him up and take him to Knott County and let him run with the elk herd the rest of his life. Shame on you, old Brushy Bill, for putting old Barney on the road.

.

To a guy from Sycamore: We have the gourds and Duct tape.

.

Can anybody tell me where I can locate a spare tire? I used to live at Seco.

.

I would rather be a security guard and be called Barney Fife than to let the state keep up my kids like you do. Eyes are watching you and you can go visit your dad’s grave. Barney won’t hurt you. You don’t have to be afraid of Barney Fife.

.

I want to wish my wonderful brother-in-law a belated happy birthday. He turned 47 on April 13. Happy birthday, Redbird.

.

We want to wish our big brother, Tony Sizemore, a happy birthday on April 28. We love you, bubby, so much. Love, your sisters.

.

I would like to know who can get in contact with. There is a man who drives a white Dodge state vehicle while appearing to be wiped out of his mind. The next time he is driving 70 on Sandlick and gets on the other side of the lane and about hits my pregnant wife there will be lawsuits against him. I think there should be something done about this man. How is this man permitted to drive a state vehicle? I don’t understand it. The next time he nearly hits my wife I will follow him and we will have problems.

.

I would love to wish my beautiful grandmother a very happy birthday on April 28. Love, Priscilla.

.

I don’t begrudge folks getting firewood that storms have brought down. I do begrudge folks taking that which my husband and son spent their time, sweat, gas, and chainsaw blade on. There’s only one way in and out of this holler and we saw you take it. What would you call it?

.

The proposed cutbacks being considered by the Letcher County Board of Education concern me. Teachers will be laid off, class sizes will increase, kids will not have books (the high school Spanish class doesn’t have text books now), and school buses will be overloaded. Meanwhile, the number of unnecessary administrative positions continues to increase. It seems one cannot do their job adequately, have inappropriate relationships, talk on the phone all day, or be a coach or coach’s wife and get paid a $75,000 administrative salary in Letcher County. We even have a person making more than $40,000 to be an energy consultant that I bet no one has ever seen at a school. New Expeditions are being driven home to Floyd County by assistant superintendents, which I never realized our assistant superintendent makes $100,000 per year and our superintendent makes more than $120,000. As a taxpayer this infuriates me. Our tax dollars are being abused. This concern should be addressed to the Office of Education Accountability.

.

Melissa W. loves Kyle Busch. Go No. 18.

I would like to speak my piece about some of this silly stuff that is put in Speak Your Piece. If you would, please take care of your own business and leave other people that are going to church alone. I don’t think that is even any of your business. Instead of you complaining and attacking me, which I don’t even bother you, you would be better off with God. Have a good day as long as you can. Enjoy life. Try to help other people and serve God. That will help you to have more friends.

.

I don’t know, but for some reason I think everything around here is seems to be so nice. I don’t know if it is just where we have had a bad, hard winter or what. It seems like everywhere I go people are loading up a big pile of metal and tin and all kinds of stuff. They are really doing a good job cleaning up the county. I think it is a wonderful thing to see people clean everything like that. There are a few areas that still need a little bit of cleaning up. Hopefully everyone will get their garbage and junk out. That is sure one thing we all sure need to do. This place is too beautiful and pretty to ruin. I would like to say that I have visited the Kingscreek Park over there and I want you to know that is one of the nicest parks. When you are there you feel so safe. It is unreal how nice that park is. You don’t even have to worry about your children playing because you can see everything. Those big shelters are so nice. I think we should put more parks in this area. That is a great thing. Everybody loves to walk on walking tracks and kids love to ride their bicycles. I think that is such a great, terrific thing. I guess I have said everything I need to say.

.

People, please spend more time with your children. Take them camping, fishing and hunting. Listen, life is too short and it can be gone at any minute, so really the only thing you have to worry about is making it right with God and He will protect you and protect and take care of your children. Have a happy summer. Always remember that your children are a reflection of you. How you raise them, what you teach them, what they learn, they are duplicates of you. Pay more attention to your children. Take them places. Enjoy life a little better. They grow up too soon.

.

Well, I just got my Speak Your Piece. They only put in one thing that I put in there, but I guess that was more than fair. The one thing I really wanted to put in there was to the fellow talking about me being a moron. This is ‘hey neighbor’ to that ‘moron’ stranger. Whose little girl are you? Please, Speak Your Piece, put this in here.

.

Why doesn’t the Hazard television station do as much publicity for Letcher County Mountain Heritage as it does for the Pikeville Hillbilly Days? They are all over that every day. You see them up here one time for our Mountain Heritage Festival. I think they should give each community the same attention.

.

I’m calling about a donation that was made to Southeast Community College in Cumberland. I saw on the Hazard news where Richard Gilliam went in there and gave them $ 500,000 for scholarships for these kids here in this county and surrounding counties. I want to tip my hat to that man. I have never met him, but I want to tip my hat for what he has done in Harlan County. We owe him that for sure. A while back he pulled $1 million out and said build a football field at Harlan Central. I thought that was great. Helping these kids is unbelievable. That’s a great thing. I’ll stand behind a man like that because he is doing a great thing. I just want to thank him and tip my hat to him.

.

It has been six years since you have been gone and I love you dearly. I miss you and I think of you every day. I love you and I will see you in my dreams. Ed

.

Talk is cheap. Why don’t you say it to my face and I will show you what a wise idiot could do?

.

This is to the people who live on Little Cowan: Apparently there is the sweetest dog that keeps following you up and down the highway. It’s going to killed. It is crippled. It hops and follows you up and down the road when you have to leave. It falls every so often when it runs a few steps. It is going to get killed. I feel so sorry for it. Please put it up. I don’t want to see it get killed.

.

I think it is sad that people would rather go to a cockfight on Sunday morning instead of honoring the Lord and going to church.

.

Hey lady. Why don’t you put your big girl panties on and act like the 45-year-old lady that you are instead of the 15-year-old child you think you are? Grow up a little bit and sit back and worry about your own life instead of everyone else’s lives. Mind your own business, lady.

.

You think that you are hot now that you’re single. Everyone knows you are a pig.

.

I took my father to a certain pharmacy in Cumberland (not Rite Aid) the other day to get his prescriptions filled. Let me tell you, this place has some of the rudest people working there I have ever seen. All three of the employees were so rude and had a smart mouth on them. No wonder everyone kept telling me and my family to go elsewhere. I won’t go back through their door again. They have lost a really good customer.

.

To the young boy that demon-possessed and drug-addicted: When you finally die from overdose some of the so-called higher powers in local drug dealing should be indicted for premeditated murder.

.

I don’t know how you can go to church and show your filthy face. I’m sure the church won’t mind as long as you send them a big check every month.

To whom it may concern: We are being held at the Letcher County Jail. We are innocent and we have bonds, so if you are goodhearted, come bond us out. Thank you, have a nice day.

.

To Ross Kegan: I did not get a reply from you, but I see the same employee at the company you’re in charge of is still running around in Virginia and in Cumberland and in Letcher County on payday Fridays. The vehicle he is driving still doesn’t have a company name and number like most of the big companies. What your company needs to do is keep a log of the miles he drives to and from work and gallons of gas he uses when he fills the tank. You are a smart man, Mr. Kegan. You can figure it out.

.

To Double- Kwik: You had a promotion called ‘Old School Days’ recently where you sold gas for $1.50 a gallon. Thank you. Everyone appreciated it. Well, I am a working mother and take my children to school on the way to work. I work from 8 to 5 and didn’t get to participate. It would be nice if you could have a similar event for different places of work and let the 8 to 5 working people participate.

.

I’m totally against the guys from the Letcher County Jail cutting the Day- Pack-Flannery Cemetery at the mouth of Dinah Blair Hollow. I was told by several people that I did a good job. I was going to wait until the first week of May, but it looks like I have to start sooner. If some of the people had rather not give me some money one time to buy gas and string, one time per season, then don’t. If it’s not given freely, I’ll manage. Thank you, Stanley Pack.
