I think it’s a shame that they call the police on the least little thing that goes on around a certain place. Every dog has its day, so watch out.

.

You are my angel and you are the sunshine of my life. I really do love you.

.

To everyone in Whitesburg: If you have a certain social worker he will do everything in his power to keep your kids away from you. You will not get them back, no matter what you do and no matter how hard you try.

.

I think it is a shame our American boys are over there getting killed and they won’t even shoot over the graves. You can’t tell me there aren’t enough here that can blow a trumpet and go out a couple of hours on Sunday and blow ‘Taps’ for our soldiers.

.

The most beautiful woman in the world and the love of my life was born on the first day of summer. Happy birthday.

.

When my 11- year- old granddaughter hit a homerun with her twin brother on first base, you could have heard the crowd a mile away. The final score was seven to five.

.

Hey preacher, you kept aggravating me until I finally went to church with you. You came by and picked me up and on the way to your church you smoked a joint. You said God didn’t have a problem with that. I want to know what the general public out there thinks about that. Give me some feedback.

.

To the people of Letcher County: It is a disgrace to waste maybe $150,000 to $200,000 on a bridge going to the magistrate’s house on a one-lane road. Whoever is over this should be fired. There are four bridges on this hollow and two vehicles cannot pass on any of them. To me, money is so scarce and our schools are being cut. Anyone who would vote for one of these idiots is an idiot.

.

To the person who said in this week’s paper that I am like my mama with the big mouth: Let me hear of you doing something like that again and I’ll show you who has a big mouth. And yes I am proud to look like my mama.

.

I am a customer of the Letcher County Water and Sewer District in the Jeremiah area. For about three to four months, my water bill was down $20 to $21 dollars. Now they have started estimating and it is like $8 or $9 higher each month. If they are reading my meter it stays in the low $20, but now they’re just estimating it every month. Why do they even have a guy reading the meters? I would rather them charge people for what water they are using instead of just estimate it and charging them more money, especially the old folks.

.

I left out one important element last week in my tips on how to improve your health. Every system in the body needs essential fatty acids. You brain is 40 percent fatty acids. They are called essential for a reason. Your body has to have them. You can get them by eating nuts, peanut butter, flax oil, olives, olive oil. Even chocolate has essential fatty acids. You can get supplements with Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. Dr. Sears designed a zone diet, one of the best diets out there. It is sensible and effective. He includes the fatty acids in this. Google this. It is not just to lose weight; it is to be healthy.

.

The next time I mail a letter I will have my butcher knife with me.

.

To all of you people shopping with the people out of state selling on the side of the road: Shame, shame for not supporting local businesses.

.

I want to tell these young women they need to watch out. The Weiner mobile may be coming through here and they might be after them.

. To the nurse who is responsible for getting Summit City in so much trouble they’re having to close down: Many of us know who you are and wish you would step forward and make your identity known to all the people you have hurt in Letcher and surrounding counties. Were you paid to do what you did? Do you realize how much income you are costing other businesses in the Whitesburg area, such as the gas stations and hotels and restaurants? What is wrong with you? Why are you so against progress?

.

To the person who made the comment in last week’s Speak Your Piece about the Letcher County Wolves: Yes, they are doing a good job, but you are right when you say they do favor certain players. That is all I have to say, but go Wolves.

.

I hope all of the dads in the world had a wonderful Father’s Day and that all of the children really showed their dads how much they love and care for them and how much they are needed. I hope they showed them how much they appreciate the things they have done such as working and being there to play with them and protect them. You may say your dad isn’t worth anything, but you’ll change your mind when you don’t have one. So everybody please treat your dad with the utmost respect no matter what he has done or said. He is your father so treat him like a father. Don’t be in my shoes. I don’t have a dad. He is gone and I didn’t treat him right and it is all of my fault. So on Father’s Day I cried because of the way I treated him.

.

I met this girl and talked to her and her two kids at Wendy’s the other night and we really connected. If you are not with someone seriously maybe we can talk and get together. I don’t know if you read Speak Your Piece. If you do, please respond and let me know something. Your little boy went through the drive-thru walking if that lets you know who I am.

.

Well, it looks like the ATV rider in another county encountered what everybody encounters with the Neon City Police. The ego junkie does everyone this way. He talks to everyone like this. A complete outsider summed up our city with his comment in Speak Your Piece. If the mayor would listen to the people instead of the councilwoman who seems to be running the city they might get a lot of things done. The mayor is not really a bad person. She needs to go on her own judgment instead of this councilwoman’s, because that is what is keeping her in trouble. And you better do something about the cop.

.

The American Legion finally got rid of certain people. Now they need to get rid of one more. Not everybody loves her. Get someone new, please.

.

I can’t believe the number of people in Letcher County who suck up to the coal companies. For the latest proof, just check out the comment area on WYMT’s website.

.

How do our prosecutors and police officers justify dismissing cases against people charged with possessing and selling ounces of cocaine while at the same time keep people in jail for being high on a Lorcet or some other minor pain pill? Where is the justice in this? If someone can answer this, please do. I’m tired of seeing my relatives get the shaft when others who do much worse are sent free to do what they want to do.

.

To the ownership of Summit City: It is with great sadness that I read the message you sent out saying you’re having to quit selling alcohol on August 1, apparently because you can’t sell enough food to meet the legal requirements for your ABC license. While you have my sympathy, I also believe you could have done a much better job of trying to live within the rules you knew you faced when you got your alcohol license. Did you really believe you could meet the food quota by offering up coffee, Panini sandwiches, olive salads and hummus? Many people, including myself, are feeling very let down by this situation that was easily foreseen and could have been prevented with just a little thought and effort.

.

To the court system in Whitesburg: Larry Bentley, or I’ll call him Mr. Meth Man because Speak Your Piece won’t put his name in there, has spent more time in the Letcher County Jail than he has at home. Is there not one judge down there who has the guts to send this boy to prison for the next 15 years? He should have been sent off 15 years ago. I’m beginning to think he is your buddy down there. I hope you will prove me wrong and send him to jail where he should have been 15 years ago.

.

I want to compliment Mr. Chris Anderson. He had a photo on the front page of The Mountain Eagle of a baby eating watermelon. That makes two weeks in a row he has had good pictures in the paper. I didn’t realize how good he was. Mr. Chris, you keep it up. One of these days, young man, you are going to go somewhere.

.

I have been amazed to read some of the negative comments being said on some of the Internet sites by people who are actually happy that Whitesburg is losing a business that was bringing good publicity and good money to Letcher County. What is it with jerks who go by names like ‘Coal Powered’ and ‘Bubba’ that they would be happy that Summit City or any other business is closing? Are they jealous because people were actually able to enjoy seeing national bands in Whitesburg or are they backward creeps who have a hard time fitting in socially and want others to be as pitiful as they are?

.

This is the M.P. There are three words in the English language that end with the letters shion. Cushion is one. Fashion is two. I cannot seem to determine the other one. Would someone please let me know in next week’s Speak Your Piece?

.

I’m sad to see Summit City go. However, if someone is ever able to open it up again or someplace like it I hope they do a better job of making people feel welcome. Me and my friends went in there a few times and were made to feel like strangers. But it was always great when the rock concerts were going on because a lot of really cool and really nice people came to Letcher County from surrounding counties to see the shows. It’s a shame when people from other counties are nicer to you than people from your own home county.

.

This is in response to Major Mullins’s comment about the ATVs in Neon. I am so sorry this happened to you, sir, and I assure you that if you come down to the other end of Letcher County we will welcome your ATVs.

.

Have a nice journey, Mr. Polly.

.

It’s been two years since Kerney Brock was called home. He is thought of and missed every day. Until we meet again, your sister-inlaw Trulia.

.

It truly made me sad to learn that that one bright spot on downtown Whitesburg will soon be closing. I’d hope rules can be modified or something can be done to prevent this horrendous decision from becoming reality.
