I agree that a man should take care of his children, but what about these sorry mothers who are able to work but won’t? They find themselves a sugar daddy and lie on their behinds and run the roads on his money as well as using the child support money. My grandmother would have called this prostitution, plain and simple. Way to go, mothers. This is a good way to teach your children. If you don’t want to work and help raise your children, give them to the fathers. They are tired of being robbed so you trash can live high on the hog.

. The politicians are arguing about a petty tax rate. In the meantime the oil companies are taking most of our check and what is left the electric company wants. If we have no money, what does it matter what the taxes are?

. My friend just got out of the Letcher County Jail and said there was more drugs in jail than he could get on the street. He said it is pitiful.

. To a lady who drives a Jeep: You turned out just like your mother. Neither one of you is any good. You don’t take care of your families. You just threw your families down.

. Spike Dolomite Ward was feeling let down by the candidate she once championed. He wasn’t working hard enough for the middle class — he hadn’t made good on his promises. Then she went through the horror of losing her insurance before she got a cancer diagnosis — and an interesting thing happened. She wrote in an Los Angeles Times Op-Ed: ‘Fortunately for me, I’ve been saved by the federal government’s Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan, something I had never heard of before needing it. It’s part of President Obama’s healthcare plan, one of the things that has already kicked in, and it guarantees access to insurance for U. S. citizens with preexisting conditions who have been uninsured for at least six months. The application was short, the premiums are affordable, and I have found the people who work in the administration office to be quite compassionate; nothing like the people I have dealt with over the years at other insurance companies. It’s not perfect, of course, and it still leaves many people in need out in the cold. But it’s a start, and for me it’s been a lifesaver — perhaps literally.’

. When you do people wrong in life, God will bring you down, maybe through sickness or other things in your life.

I am proud to say I never voted for Mitch McConnell or Rand Paul for U.S. Senator. I wouldn’t vote for them and will probably never vote for a Republican again. The only reason they don’t want to raise taxes on the millionaires is because they would be raising taxes on themselves. So, Mitch McConnell, why don’t you try raising taxes on yourself since the Republicans took eight years to get us in this mess? Try to get us out of this mess instead of sitting on your behind.

. The one that you are thinking of is thinking of you. I will love you forever and ever and ever.

. Someone commented in Speak Your Piece last week that they were sure there was drug selling in the bottom of Whitco. They said they lived on the hill. Well, on the hill there is a little wheeling and dealing going on too. I lie in my bed at night and cars go straight up the hill and back down. Buddy, don’t talk about somebody if you are doing it yourself.

. If poor Blagojevich had only known, he could have gotten elected President, sent 6,000 of our precious children to their brutal early deaths over nonexistent weapons of mass destruction, and retired making money off his book about how all that was so, so good.

. I’m calling to give another friendly reminder to parents of young boys in Dunham. The convicted child molester is still walking the streets of our little town. Please watch your children.

. I was kind of wondering, blondie, what was that little boy’s name you used to get that job?

. This is a reminder to Letcher County Judge/Executive Jim Ward and the magistrates of Letcher Fiscal Court: Letcher County does extend beyond the city limits of Whitesburg.

. Sarah Palin, you run off lot at the mouth. I tell you what, when you go hunting how in the world can you shoot anything the way you run off at the mouth? You badmouth President Obama. Look what he had to take over after Bush got through with this country. It is disgusting the way sometimes you can smile and just run off at the mouth about anything that goes through between those two ears of yours. God bless America and God bless you, Mr. President.

. I was just looking through Speak Your Piece and reading some of the comments and wondering when Speak Your Piece

actually turned into ‘Dear Abby’? Every time you leave a comment the editor thinks he has to put in his two cents. (Every time?)

. I have a question for the Letcher County school superintendent. I was just watching the boys’ basketball scrimmage on the school channel and I also saw the dance team doing their little routine. The dance team hardly had anything on. Why was it such a big deal that some of the girls with actual skirts on had to go home and change because they weren’t down to their knees? Has anyone seen the dance team on the school channel and what they are wearing? Are you kidding me?

. I really like using a certain pharmacy in Whitesburg. It has the best prices but I don’t like the pharmacist’s attitude. He is a smart a**.

. I am sitting in Walmart parking lot and I saw a lady in a black SUV back into a man in a motorized wheelchair. Once she got out and made sure he wasn’t hurt — and I don’t know how he wasn’t hurt because she hit him pretty hard — she took out of here flying. That lady absolutely needs to slow down before she kills someone.

. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to my dearly loved angel. I love you.

. I don’t speak for Occupy Wall Street, but it seems to me that what they are about may be summed up in Langston Hughes’ poem ‘Let America Be America Again’. If you are not familiar with it, see famouspoetsandpoems.com. I also don’t think we should blame everything wrong with this country on the ‘(black) in the White House (not my words).’ One more comment: Is the GOP’s new motto ‘NO!’?

. I am calling about the City of Jenkins putting a jar inside city hall for one of their employees who curses. He has to put 25 cents in the jar every time he curses. Why doesn’t the City say something to him or give him time off? After leaving City Hall and giving it more thought, it hit me. He is priceless.

. Please put ‘Broke Neck Santa’ up as a Christmas Display at the R.C. Bottling Plant at Ermine. Hopefully the new owners realize what a status symbol that he is in Letcher County.

. The new director of the Letcher County Health Department decided at the last minute not to let Santa and Mrs. Claus be in the health department lobby to hand out treats and let the little children tell him what they wanted for Christmas after the parade in Whitesburg Friday night. Bah humbug! Luckily, Dr. Bill Collins and his staff stepped up and hosted Santa and Mrs. Claus instead.

. When the electric company owns the coal company, both are destined to make a profit at the consumer’s expense. Yet nothing is said or done about this conflict of interest.

. Happy 11th birthday to certain girl from her real relatives who hope she and her sister have a merry Christmas and understand that we all love and miss them both. We also want them to know we are helping their mom get them back. Soon it will be tried in a real court, not one like Whitesburg. Social Services lied to the judge, but now the state is making them release your records and the new court will help your real relatives get you both back. In the meantime, do not forget that we love you and have never forgotten what sweet little girls you are.

. People who don’t drive their own cars don’t realize what the price of gas does to a budget. The postal officials are talking about cutting out local jobs by sending Kentucky mail to Knoxville and Charleston.

They appear to be unaware that the price of gas is the single most expense for the mail. All that will do is trade local jobs to pay for gas. The problem with the postal service is the price of gasoline; the problem with my paycheck is that most of it goes to gasoline to get to work.

. Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. Our children are positioned in the trenches trying to turn their life around. The greatest accomplishment is simply to say no. They know drugs are a mindtrap, and it’s so sad they let peer pressure waste them. They let Satan control their lives. They who have never learned, young people are marching to their death. Death rode with misery, sinking its claw into them. Where is the twinkle and sparkle? A sad evidence of defeated, deeper despair. A zombie with signs of years to come. It is time to wage warfare. Our country needs to demand the good troops to assist Letcher County. With God all things are possible, Matthew 19:26. The looming (on drugs) facts are terrifying. Fine, healthy young men are devastated with no life or purpose and will die or become mangled beyond repair without God. It deprives women of sons, wives of husbands and children of a father. Drugs will not discriminate as they rape, robbing us of our treasures. They have forgotten to just say no, and take pride in being able to say no. A so-called friend who would encourage you to indulge in the devil’s drugs is certainly not your friend or mine. Do not let anything turn you from your purpose in life.

. Dear friend: How are you? I just had to send a note to tell you how much I care about you. I saw you yesterday as you were talking with your friends. I waited all day hoping you would talk to me too. I gave you a sunset to close your day and a cool breeze to rest you, and I waited, but you never came. It hurt me, but I still love you because I am your friend. I saw you sleeping last night and longed to touch your brow, so I spilled moonlight upon your face. Again I waited, wanting to rush down so we could talk. I have so many gifts for you. You awoke and rushed off to work. My tears were in the rain. If you would only listen to me: I love you. I try to tell you in blue skies and in the quiet green grass. I whisper it in leaves on the trees and breath it in the color in flowers, shout it to you in mountain streams, and give the birds love songs to sing. I clothe you with warm sunshine and perfume the air with nature’s scents. My love for you is deeper than the ocean and bigger than the biggest need in your heart. Please don’t forget me. With God all things are possible. Matthew 19:12. God loves you and yours. John 3:16-17.

. I’d like to wish several people a merry Christmas. Gwendolyn Pack, I know her as Leslie Adams and family, the Paiges, Shorts, all at Whitesburg Housing Project, last but not least, Jerry and Nell Fields on Big Cowan. Also, Orville and Ethel Fields, the McIntosh family, the A. Millers up on Bald Mountain. Please print this, it is important to me, okay? Thank you, Stanley Pack.
