Boy oh boy, did I see a good-looking man at the Neon library. He’s over 60. Hey, good looking.

.

A certain nurse thinks she is hotter than a twodollar pistol. Well, two dollars is about what she is worth, because I have been out with her.

.

I think it is a shame that we can’t get anything done at Cove Avenue in Jenkins because of the drugs and the traffic. My husband and I had to move because he can’t sleep with all the traffi c coming in and out at all hours. They need to watch Cove Avenue more closely.

.

Did the football coach work the booth at Isom Days? I don’t recall seeing him there. He is the head football coach, yet he is not part of the team. That’s a problem I do believe. I feel so sorry for this team. These boys deserve so much better.

.

I have dreamed this twice and I don’t know what it means. I saw a storm twirling. It is like sand that is reddish brown, but it is real thick and it is twirling around like it is getting ready to destroy. When I see it I only see it in the size of a picture frame, like I am looking in a cave or tunnel or picture. I can’t see the whole scene. All I can see is what is inside the box, and it is reddish brown sand twirling so thick. I don’t know, but it gives me cold chills. My head is hurting so bad I can’t even think of what it could possibly mean. This thing keeps coming to my mind when I dream it. You cannot be prepared enough.

.

The Kentucky and Louisville football game was pathetic. How much longer is UK going to put up with the joke, Joker? There is no way that those two teams have an 18-point difference in Louisville’s favor. Change is going to have to take place at the University of Kentucky.

.

Hey, don’t be saying anything about the lady who attends a certain church buying pills. She came to mine; I just sold her $400 worth. It was a good deal. She would have had to pay $500 anywhere else. Don’t knock it anymore unless you have tried it.

.

I agree with the caller about Rebecca Lynn Howard, who performed at Riverside Days. If she is a singer, I am also a brain surgeon.

.

I figured out how Americans get can things for free. If you sneak across the border into Mexico and sneak back into the U.S. as an illegal immigrant you get a free food stamp card, free healthcare and you can go to college for free. You don’t have to pay for anything as long as Obama is re-elected. People, wake up. Don’t be stupid. We lost all of our mining jobs because of him. Let’s get him out of office.

.

When my granddaughter got old enough to see what the difference was she told her mother that she wanted to use the bathroom the same way her twin brother did.

.

To ATV riders: The more of you that are on the road the less there are in the mountains, so why worry about getting yourself a trail? You people don’t know how to stay off the main highways. We have to pay for insurance on our cars, insurance and license and tags. You pay nothing. You don’t wear helmets or seatbelts, yet you try to run the regular traffic off the main roads. I think you need to get to the hills and quit complaining because somebody else want to ride a horse. Now, take that and shove it.

.

There are some people in the county where I live who let their 13-year-old girl fool around with a 15-year-old boy. Well, they moved to Letcher County and they brought the boyfriend with them. What’s it coming to when parents let their little girls fool with boys that young? I think social workers should do something about it.

.

I have to laugh when I hear people say they are going to vote for Mitt Romney for president because he is a good Christian man. Do these people really not know the difference between Mormonism and Christianity? Do they really not know that Mitt Romney is a member of a cult-like religion known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? Do people really not know that Mitt Romney and the Mormons worship a man named Joseph Smith, who founded the religion after he had a vision that God named him as a prophet one spring day in upstate New York in 1820? Do people really not know that the latter-day prophet Joseph Smith practiced polygamy and had multiple wives, and that one of the most famous of all Mormons, Brigham Young, fathered 56 children with the 50 wives he had at the same time? Here’s a question to ponder: If Mitt Romney wins the election in November, will he be wearing the magic underwear Mormons believe in on Inauguration Day? Mormon magic underwear is also known as temple garments. You might want to educate yourself about Mormonism and magic underwear before you vote in November.

.

To the person responsible for the comment in last week’s Speak Your Piece concerning McRoberts school leaving the Jenkins school district and joining the county system: This is a big mistake. McRoberts and Jenkins have turned out more successful people than any other place in Kentucky. Just because there is a big expensive school that sits on a big hill in Whitesburg doesn’t mean it is better. Think about it, McRoberts. Fight for our school. Don’t let another good functional school go down. Bring on a petition. You might just be surprised.

.

To a certain woman who is living with a certain man at Deane: I’ll show you who eats out of whose hand, because I don’t want him anymore.

.

To a certain person: I really don’t mind him coming to see you since you are such a sweet angel. He brings your angel dust back and sprinkles it all around.

.

This is from the man who has an angel. I will be sitting on the right-hand side of the Lord with my angel sitting in my lap. And that is no lie. There haven’t been any lies told. Somebody is mad over my angel. I love her.

.

Now we find out, thanks to The New York Times, that the George W. Bush administration had been warned almost daily since May 1, 2001 that Osama bin Laden had people inside the United States planning a major terrorist operation, and that a strike was ‘imminent.’ How did the Bush people respond to those daily dire warnings from the Central Intelligence Agency? They ignored the warnings of the attack that came 11 years ago on September 11 and said it was all a ploy to distract the members of the Bush White House from their campaign against Saddam Hussein. While the people in Kentucky, many of whom are very poorly informed, will vote overwhelmingly against reelecting President Obama in November, let’s hope there are enough thinking people left in this great country of ours to stop these same neoconservatives who stood by and did nothing while al Qaeda planned for and carried out a murderous terrorist attack on our homeland from regaining their positions of power in a Mitt Romney administration.

.

Hey, Midnight Phantom. Disclose yourself. Let the world know who you are. I don’t think you have what it takes. Unmask yourself. Let us all know who you are.

.

I love my angel. If everyone had an angel like me the world would be a better place. We will be together when we meet the Lord. She will be sitting in my lap. I love my angel.

.

For your information, here is what I said about wearing pants to church. I think you should sacrifice that day to look like a lady instead of dressing like a man. Also, doesn’t the Bible say that a woman should not put on what pertains to man? Pants are for men, not women. You better read your Bible. I’m just saying that people should take that one day a week to look like a lady and not a man. You have a good day.

.

Beware a certain car lot located in a certain community in Letcher County. If you want to buy a car and get ripped off real good, then go to this place. You will not be treated right.

.

To all Kentucky voters: Paul Ryan claims to be Catholic, yet he follows the teachings of Ayn Rand, an atheist. She taught that greed is good and we should only worry about our own wants and needs. What was God Almighty’s answer when Cain asked Him, ‘Am I my brother’s keeper?’ If you know the Bible you know the answer was ‘yes.’ Mitt Romney and Ryan are the children of rich people who know nothing about what it is like to do without anything. Who do you think knows more about hard times? Draw your own conclusions.

.

Shame, shame, shame on a couple of grandparents. Your twin granddaughters just turned 21 in Daytona and you couldn’t even call them to wish them a happy birthday. But that is okay. Their aunt in Hazard did call. Their cousin in Cynthiana did, too. Shame on the both of you.

.

To a caller: If your comment was about the woman in Coon Hollow living with a man, you need to tell her. This will break her heart, but I will be there to pick up the pieces. I have always wanted her. Signed, I really care.

.

If the schools are not good enough for our own teachers, shouldn’t we just load up our own kids and take them to another county, too? Aren’t we good enough in Letcher County?

.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. NASCAR should let that Goodwrench No. 3 car make three laps at Daytona for these older fans here that used to watch Dale Earnhardt run. I think NASCAR owes the fans that. I’d like to just see it one more time. I don’t think it will hurt anything. Maybe let Junior drive it. I’d just like to see that.

.

This message is directly slanted toward two certain persons. I know all about your little conference with the Letcher County Attorney. As a matter of fact, I know every detail. I am not on parole or probation. Don’t you know anything at all about the ex-post law? And if you do why are you so dumb? This is the B.M.O.C., as if you don’t know. Do you not know anything about the ex-post facto law? This is why I repeat myself. Why don’t you just get a life? You lost in court and you’ll lose again. Bring it on, baby.

.

I am a coal miner and a father of three children. One is in elementary school. The second one is in middle school and the third one will graduate this year from high school. My problem is this: The majority of teachers in Letcher County cannot pass a fifth-grade test according to the statistics I have seen. Only three percent can speak a foreign language. It is with regret that I must report that our schools are falling so far behind the national and world average that it is a pathetic situation. I recently attended a board meeting of the Letcher County Schools. I tried to bring these problems to the attention of the board and was told by the chairperson that I was out of order. Meanwhile, Judge Jim Ward, along with Shirley, comes on the Round Table on WXKQ and says everything is going great. I not only don’t believe this, I have the facts to back it up. Letcher County schools are far behind the state average. The kids are not getting the education they deserve. As far as the teachers, I know they are overworked and underpaid. Is this not an adverse reflection on the colleges in this state who are supposed to teach our teachers how to teach? Where do they go wrong? As my second child went through grade school, she lost her imagination, her creativity and her dreams of the future because the teachers put her down. They limited the vocabulary she already had. They sat her in her seat. Perhaps the teachers did not know what they were doing. If you don’t give kids freedom to learn, they will not learn in freedom. I as a coal miner discovered this, so why can’t teachers who are supposed to be educated know this? If the principals don’t have freedom to lead, can’t lead or don’t know how to lead, then they need to be retired, fired or let go. I don’t understand why kids in the mountains can’t advance the same as any kids anywhere else. I know that Letcher County is not the only school system that has a problem. That is no reason for us not to change. Why can’t we change? Are we so set in our ways that we can’t try something else? And by the way, let’s get off the computer and off the Internet. Let’s go back to textbooks and basics. I did most of my learning, even though I am a high school dropout, in a one-room school, and I can do long division without a calculator and I can basically use correct English when necessary. I have also noticed that teachers and principals do not use correct English. I know the parts of speech. I know that the verb must agree with the subject. I know what a dangling infinitive is. I know that a preposition is not needed. I know how to look up a word and understand how it is pronounced. I know how to do basic algebra. I know how to do basic geometry. I know about calculus. I don’t know much about it, but I do know what an algorithm is and I do know what ratio and proportion are. What in the world can we do to get these backwards Letcher County schools and the Letcher County system at large on the ball? We’re not stupid. We’re not dumb. We’re not hillbillies. We’re not hicks. So let’s get it together and let’s do something about it instead of the same old status quo.

.

I can’t even imagine how some of you people take advantage of a certain veterans club. This club takes care of you and lets you have stuff when you don’t have any money. Then you mess around on them? How can you honestly lie down and sleep at night? This is veterans’ money. When you take advantage of a veterans club and don’t pay your bills, you are really bad. I can’t imagine you all doing that. Just pay your bills and think about what all veterans have done for you.

.

To a certain woman: You hurt me a lot, but I will never stop loving you. There will never be another woman who could take your place. I just don’t think I could ever love again. I will always love you and I wish the best for you.

.

I have a boy who goes to Jenkins Middle School and wants to play basketball. One of the parents called me and told me that open gym is on Monday from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. These are grade school kids. Practice should be earlier than that. They said this is what happened last year and that the coach was late or didn’t show up for practices. My kid wants to play ball. If this coach can’t get there at a decent time and have practice for grade school kids then he needs to get out of the way and let somebody in there who is really going to do something for these kids. He needs to make up his mind if he is going to be a coach or not. If his regular job is in the way, he either needs to quit one or the other. This happened last year and my kid couldn’t play last year.

.

There have been five deaths from drug overdoses in our small community of McRoberts. The selling of illegal drugs can be witnessed from many sections of our community. Within an eighth of a mile of my home there are four drug dealers. The buyers use the cell phone, meet the dealer and the buy is made. These deals are often made out in the open. Any person with a camera could capture the drug deal, except the authorities. In Letcher County there are no drug roundups, and those charged are slapped on the hand and sent back to their community to resume selling. People are being hooked by dealers and die from drugs, babies are born addicted to drugs, but it is evident our authorities are not willing to give enough effort to help our children. Drug arrests have increased in every surrounding county except Letcher. Please help this community. We are pleading to UNITE because our county officials have failed us. Selling of drugs is not a harmless way of making a living; it is a means to kill and destroy our youth.

.

This is to the person who keeps putting things in Speak Your Piece about Revelation Ranch: I feel sorry for you, because you are being totally used by Satan. You must consider yourself a Christian or you would not know about their work. I suggest you read the Bible to make sure. Read I John, Chapter 3, and Galatians, Chapter 5. It is possible you could have inherited some mental illness. One of the signs is that you become obsessed with an issue that controls your mind and renders you useless. I suggest you go to God for help and see a good Christian counselor. You can never destroy God’s work, only yourself and your family.

.

The American people are told that men lying with men is just an alternate lifestyle, but God said it is an abomination. The American people have voted against this all across our nation, yet these ungodly politicians are still trying to force it on the American people. Our lying news media lies to the American people by saying that the recession is over so it will make their liars look good. This recession is not over, it has only begun. Children are starving and people are hungry. The White House has destroyed coal jobs by lying to the American people about global warming. That is just a lie they came up with to try to control the American people. The ACLU lies, too. They lie to the American people and say we can’t pray in school. I can pray to Jesus anywhere I please. My God gave me that right. The ACLU is breaking our constitutional right to the freedom of religion by saying we can’t. Apparently our politicians and the ACLU need to go back to elementary school and take a class in history, as apparently they have the education of a Billy goat. American people, they just want your vote and then they look down on you like you are a dog. Another thing we need to address is the gasoline prices. Remember back in the 1970s when gasoline was rationed and they lied to the American people and said they were running out of oil? That was a flat lie. They have so much now that they can sell it for $4 a gallon. Let’s do some math. Remember when Bush was President, when oil went up to $140 a barrel and gasoline was $4 a gallon? So why is it costing almost $4 a gallon now when oil is in the $90 a barrel range? The American people are being lied to. We had better get our house in order. Our freedom is not free. It seems our nation is being high-jacked by ungodly men that are destroying our great nation. It seems no matter who you vote for they turn evil and are not for the American people. We have the right to freedom of speech and we had better start using it against the lying politicallycorrect crowd that are destroying our nation. I vote against sin. If a man is promoting sin, I will not vote for him.

.

Back when I was still in high school and Speak Your Piece was new, I cut out a comment that said if ignorance were bliss, Letcher County would be the most blissful place in the world. Never does this statement ring more true than now, especially when you consider the comments some of our best and brightest leave in Speak Your Piece and on other forums such as Facebook. When it comes to ignorant, racist and redneck comments about our president, the buffoonery is immeasurable. If I truly believed — as some of the more vocal people here apparently do — that President Obama is a Muslim terrorist who wakes up every morning wondering what else he can do to hurt coal, I would hope a friend or family member would check me into a mental health facility. Perhaps backward comments shouldn’t be so surprising when they come from people who live in an area where Jethro Bodine’s sixthgrade education is seen as a real achievement. Still, this level of ignorance we now see still manages to boggle one’s imagination. My question to some of you is this: When President Obama is defeated in November, just who will get your blame when the coal industry continues to downsize in Letcher County? Will you say it’s the fault of our new president Mitt Romney or will you educate yourselves and learn that this downturn has long been predicted and is occurring because burning natural gas is cheaper and the easy-tomine coal is already gone?

.

Jazz, how’s everything going? Good as can be I hope. This is T. Potter (Bub). I’m out here in Butner, N.C. in the ‘B.O.P.’ federal. I’ve been here for a little over three years. I was in state for 18 months, and don’t have too much more to go. How’s your dad doing after I almost killed him in the Jeep? Ha. If you can, get a letter to me. I hope to hear from you soon. Potter.

.

Is there anyone who knows the person over the probation officers in Whitesburg? There is a certain person in Whitco who uses a condom to pack someone else’s urine to take his drug test every time. His probation officer has been told at least six times of this. He has done nothing about it. Is it because he is a rat for the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Department? If you or anyone else knows who is over the probation officer, I will call them to try to get his probation officer fired.

.

I hate the first of the month — any month — but when it falls that all checks come on one day, it’s horrendous. Do these people understand that they don’t have to go directly to the post office, the bank and Walmart on the very day they get their checks? I have to work, so I have to be in some of those places, but if I were lucky enough to draw a check I would certainly stay home on ‘check day’. But I’m one of the idiots who work for a living, so I have to deal with it taking twice as long to get anything done on those days.

.

To the lady who inquired about getting ‘Plum Granny’ seeds: Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Mr. Sloane at: 3054 Harrison Rd., Hollansburg, Ohio 45332. I have some I’ll share.

.

This is for Barbara. The next time I see you I would love to give you a big hug. Ask me the next time when you see me if I am the one who would love to give you a big hug.

.

Well it’s time for the mother and daughter to start selling their pills in Whitco. Hey Sheriff Danny Webb, when are you going to stop the pill selling?

.

To Heather: I have enjoyed getting to know you over the past six months and I look so forward to October 1 when we can finally be together. Rascal Flatts said it best when they said, ‘God bless the broken road that led me straight to you.’ I love you. Rodney.

.

Birthdays for the month of September are as follows: Allyssa Fields, Tanner Fields, Crystal Callahan, Alisha Brown of Neon, Janet Collins are all passed, now for the present: David Fields, Archie Ray Fields the same day, September 12. Moving right along, Kenny Pack our brother, September 19; Yvonne Day our cousin has passed already; Elijah, then the last of all, Edra Pack our sister. Also, Shellie Barron, September 30. Thank you, Stanley Pack.

.

This is Brother Edward Wolfe Sr., preacher at Haymond Pentecostal Church. I am writing in concern for Letcher County and America. I’m writing for the purpose of what’s going on in America. I think it is a shame that a country was founded on the Bible and what it stands for now. They have pulled prayer, the Ten Commandments and the Bible out of schools. You are no longer allowed to whip your own child anymore because it is called abuse. Another comment I’ve got is this: I don’t make a thousand dollars a month, or even enough for me and my wife to live on. We are both disabled. She’s a bad diabetic and seizure patient. I was hurt on a school bus in a fall and that’s all we get. I was in the Army three years and can’t draw my veteran’s pension because it will knock my wife out of her SSI and medical insurance. I really call that a shame. Then if they overpay you from their mistake, you are the one that pays for the mistake. That’s sure not right. I think it’s time all the Christians stand up for our rights. It is time the Christians come back, because the sinners, hypocrites and politicians have got American on a oneway road straight to hell. Come on, blood bought, born again Christians, it is time we take our nation, our schools, our courthouses, our homes, and our churches back. It is time we take our government back. It is time we take a stand for what we believe in or we will fall for anything. Come on, Christians, time is running out. We should get in and serve, and worship our true and living God. That’s what He created us for. We’ve got God on our side to fight our battles and the victory is ours. Read your Bible.

.

Prince Albert, it won’t be long. We will be together again soon. I understand the baby-sitting. She won’t ever know since you know how to hide so well. The early morning Walmart thing works out well. Meet you same time and place.
