I just want everyone to know that my faith is in God, not the preacher.

.

To a certain woman: I don’t think you can buy your way to heaven. Even if you could, I don’t think you have enough money.

.

I have a shadow that knows it all and sees it all and is making pictures. If my job goes down, you’re going down too. If my child gets hurt, you are getting hurt too because I am not scared to talk.

.

I would like to thank everyone who has prayed for Jessica Bailey, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I would like to thank everyone who has donated to the family and I would everyone to keep praying for her please. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. This is her mother, Malinda Baker. God bless you all.

.

In order to know your friends, you must first know your enemies.

.

A mayor of a certain town has got people at the end of the street by the church house. Two houses down he has another lady who helped support him during the election for mayor. The strange thing is, directly after the election their sidewalks got fixed. All of his family’s sidewalks got fixed and then it skipped a couple of houses and went down to the other lady who supported him and her sidewalk got fixed. I have done everything I can and turned it in to everybody I know how. Why doesn’t somebody do their job?

.

I’m reading my Mountain Eagle and I have noticed a complete lack of any coverage whatsoever regarding the Letcher County Central High School volleyball team. I did Google them and found out they made it to the state tournament. I looked at this week’s Mountain Eagle and it has an article about the sorry and not very good football team that seems to get a lot of press. Then there is a little article about the soccer team, but nothing whatsoever about volleyball. And there hasn’t been any all season long. I was wondering about that and wondering why.

(Thanks for your question and comment. While there was a story about the volleyball team winning the region a couple of weeks ago, we join you in wishing there had been more in the paper about the team’s successful season. Truth is, we depend on school personnel or a parent or friend of programs such as volleyball and soccer to send us photos, statistics or other information about those teams. While that happened with soccer this year, no one submitted any information to us about volleyball.)

.

To the man who keeps talking about his angel: Well, Mister, you are right. I had her just the other day and she is one hell of an angel. Don’t let any one lie to you. She is an angel.

.

We had another good pig roast. I wanted to tell everyone thank you. We hope to have another good one next year. Hope to see everyone soon.

.

I want to tell my husband, Chris, that I love him very much. Love, your baby girl.

.

I am disgusted again. Green Acres Cemetery is becoming a forest. You can hardly even see the mausoleum now.

.

Woman, I am mad as hell. I saw you chasing my daughter down to sell your drugs. If I can’t beat the hell out of you, I will hire someone to do it. You better back off.

.

I thought government property was supposed to be used according to the rules. At Mountain Pride there is one apartment with one man, no children, no live-in or no wife and he is occupying a two-bedroom apartment. I didn’t think this was allowed.

.

To a certain person in a certain Cadillac: You better not come to Cromona selling drugs. Mother is watching you.

.

I’m calling in to commend James Wiley Craft and the businessman Mark Kidd that got the alcohol sales passed. I think it is great. I think we can catch up with Hazard and Pikeville and have new restaurants and so forth. I was reading in Speak Your Piece where someone was so close-minded against drinking. Get a life. You just can’t beat the new system. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. The world is going to turn without you.

.

Just when you see the light at the end of the tunnel, you realize there is a train behind it.

.

Where were the fine police officers in our town while yet another business was getting robbed? We need to stand together and demand these police officers be fired for not doing their job. They don’t work the hours they get paid for. They drive city vehicles burning city gas and covered by city insurance, and we pay for it and get substandard service. The entire city administration and police department should be replaced for failure to perform their jobs. Folks, think back a ways when these types of things were going on in town. For once, city administration, get some backbone and stand up for those who trusted you. Fire the police before it happens again.

.

You’re calling in of disgust of alcohol sales? Really? Are you kidding? Man, get out of town. We don’t want you to shop in stores around here. Get out of the county and take your backwards self somewhere else.

.

Why in the world is Mittens talking so much about the Boy Scouts lately? Doesn’t he know they’ve always discriminated against gays while well over 1,000 of their leaders were raping children? Give us some positive role models, Mitt.

.

The war on coal will offi cially end on November 6, when Mitt Romney obliterates Barack Obama. I for one cannot wait to be called back to work, hopefully by December 1.

.

There was a UFO mass sighting in Letcher and Pike counties on October 16. An amateur astronomer filmed it. It is on YouTube. It was spotted again on October 24 on the Pound-Jenkins mountain. This is on Before It’s News, one of the biggest news sites on the web. For once we made the international news without it being bath salts.

.

Abraham Lincoln left us with the famous quote about it being ‘better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.’ Can you imagine what President Lincoln would be saying today if he had to read some of the idiocy that gets passed around on Facebook and other social media sites? People, if you’re going to inflict your opinions on the rest of us, at least make sure your opinion is a little bit informed. Otherwise you are just another fool.

.

Would someone please tell me how they get through on the phone to ‘The Swap Shop’? The jingle takes up the whole time and I tried for half an hour to get through. Would someone please tell me the secret to get through? I have some items I would like to put on ‘The Swap Shop’.

.

Thank you for the thoughtful editorial in the October 24 edition of The Mountain Eagle. There is no one person or group of people responsible for the crisis in the coal industry, except perhaps the corporations that have for more than a century considered only how much money they can haul out of these coalfields, with no second thought about the impact on the people here; or, except perhaps the politicians — local and away — who look no further than the next election, with no serious consideration for the long-term.

.

The UFO they are talking about has been seen by many people in the last year and it is doubtful that it is coming from a distant galaxy. It is probably coming from a secret military base.

.

I am concerned about the playground in Whitesburg and if there are going to be any improvements done.

.

The good thing about a certain man losing his home is that the trash went with it.

.

We have an election coming in November and I just wonder how many former residents of Letcher County are still voting in the county. I’m just wondering.

.

You are my angel, regardless what people say. If people don’t want to read it in the paper, they shouldn’t buy one. You are my angel and I love you.

.

This is in response to a caller from a couple of weeks ago. All Christians who read your comment should take offense. First, the Republican that you so ignorantly support is a Mormon. Christ has a different place in his church. I suggest that you read up on it. I challenge you to look beyond race and religion to what will affect you and your family. The 47 percent that the Republican candidate looks down on is almost half of our nation. How can a rich greedy man create jobs in America when he has moved all his work overseas and pays those workers 99 cents an hour? China is partners with this flag waving American. If a man is ignorant let him be ignorant as the Bible says. As for choosing to be ignorant, remember we have to live with those decisions. I just hope that you don’t need Social Security and Medicare, because both will be done away with by the rich man who has always had everything he has ever needed or wanted. He cannot begin to know what it is to be poor and in need. One last word: All you women will be barefoot and pregnant then die with cancer because of the lack of care. But we will have lots of minimum wage jobs, so you will do okay just as long as you work two jobs. I love our country and our people deserve better than that.

.

I went down to check on a certain man on October 22 but I did not stop because his grandson, the rat, and his sister were selling their drugs. You could not find a place to park beside his house for the cars and trucks parked there. I found out the old man was gone to the doctor and not home anyway.

.

Larry Webster, the wellrespected Republican lawyer from Pikeville, shared these words of wisdom recently in the Lexington Herald-Leader: ‘When we go to choosing sides in the class war, there will be some surprises. Most white males who are low class will go over and fight for the rich and get on the wrong side, like they usually do. It may be a rich man’s war, but it’s a poor man’s fight. Coal miners have already given their lungs to Romney’s type, and now have also yielded up their minds and hearts. In any battle in which right battles wrong, Kentucky can be counted on to get on the wrong side. We waited to see who would lose the Civil War, then got on that side.’

.

Stop drugs. On Sunday, October 21, at Lowe’s in Virginia between 10:30 and 11, drugs went down from Kentucky. Letcher County police, state police, attorney general, need to look for a man and woman who ride a motorcycle. They also drive a white car and a red pickup. Please investigate.

.

Never argue with an idiot. They will lower you to their level and then beat you down with their experience.

.

What a shame. Mamaw lay dead in her casket at the church house and the skanky granddaughter and grandson were on the church phone trying to buy pot and pills. They are lowdown trash. When Papaw dies I hope they have to live in the garbage can. They won’t have anyone to blood suck anymore. The bums should not be allowed around a church. Once a pig always a pig. Once a rat always a rat.

.

To all my family who supposedly love my dad so much. Don’t you think that since he’s in prison now he would at least want you to check on me sitting in Letcher County Jail? Especially as much as he watched out for you and yours through the years. It’s a shame my mom had to come all the way from Michigan to bring me t-shirts and socks. Karma’s a bitch.

.

I was born and raised in Letcher County. I am a concerned citizen when it pertains to the elected offi cials that we vote onto the Kentucky Supreme Court. We need to vote for a person who is not only educated and qualified, but for a person like Justice Will T. Scott. He knows how to deal with the public and he will be your friend long after the election is over. Yes, he has been in the Office of Justice of the Supreme Court for eight years, and during that time he has gained many years of useful knowledge and experience. Justice Will T. Scott is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He enlisted as a private in 1966 and finished his tour of duty in 1969 as a first lieutenant. Among his military honors are his Airborne Wings, the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge. Will T. Scott has licenses to practice law in both Kentucky and Florida and he has practiced law in Kentucky’s courtrooms for nearly 30 years. Justice Scott is a member of the First Christian Church in Pikeville and is an avid hunter, fisherman and great lover of dogs, especially bird dogs. I am from an old political family of judges, attorneys, senators, a U.S. marshal, governors and representatives. I know quite well that an elected official must have certain qualities, be educated and have a great personality, such as Justice Will T. Scott. He is always there for you, whether you call him at home or at his office. I do not have the same respect for his opponent. Janet Stumbo uses the ‘Stumbo’ name because that is a well known name and she is a distant relative of the well-known ‘Stumbos.’ Why doesn’t Janet Stumbo tell us who her husband is? He is Ned Pillersdorf, an attorney in Prestonsburg. I have always used my maiden name, but the world knew my married name and my husband was a CEO. Let’s keep Justice Will T. Scott in the Kentucky Supreme Court where he belongs, in the Supreme Court Office where he can help us when we need help. Eight years of experience means a lot to me and should mean a lot to you. Be sure and go out and vote on Nov. 6 for the one with the experience like I am going to do.

.

Mom, I wish you loved me instead of that liar.

.

If you’re poor or elderly and you vote for Romney you just might be a ‘Mitt Witt.’
