To a certain man in Red Star: You keep selling my son and my daughter drugs and I will have the whole mess arrested.

.

This is for two women who work at a certain hair salon: I know what you are doing. Your cheating ways will catch up with both of you, and sooner or later the truth will come out.

.

I hope the Wise County Republican Area Medical event went well. Even more, I hope that after all of Obamacare is up and running, never again will poor people have to grovel in such an embarrassing way for medical care. We are the richest country on Earth and we should care about each other more than that. And by ‘we’ I mean both parties including the one always claiming they’re about family values.

.

To Matt, Clarence, and the rest of the Yeary family: I’m sorry to hear about ‘Tiger.’ I’m also sorry I couldn’t make it to his funeral. I was one of the people to take the time to get to know Tiger, and if you were like me you know he was a great person. One quick story about Tiger: I had met him for the first time at a Letcher County get together and only for a brief moment to basically to say hi and my name is. So several months went by and I ran back into Tiger again and he walked straight up to me and said, ‘Hey, Doug, how are you?’ I couldn’t believe he remembered my name. His was easy; how many Tigers do you know? All I can say is there is and always will be only one Tiger. Rest in peace. From Doug.

.

This is for that goggleeyed bobblehead who always turns her head around in church looking at somebody. Have you thought about being tested for sexually transmitted diseases? I’m going to tell your husband about the 19-year-old and the policeman. You might want to talk to him yourself first.

.

I don’t want to be mean, but I would like to tell a couple of people in Whitco that he and his wife are going to have to slow down, because kids are riding bicycles. You drive down this hill and around the curve while talking on your cell phone and not looking to see who is in the road. I promise you will be sorry if you hit one of my children. Now, you are going to have to slow down going down this hill. This is not a highway. There are children riding bicycles. Slow down.

.

To a certain person: I am so very sorry about what happened. I truly am. This is something two people should discuss. It is a starting point for mutual understanding and not a situation for which you abruptly pull away all love you have for someone and then punish them with a deafening silence. I have consistently given you room to behave very poorly when under duress. I do not punish you with silence afterwards. I do not trap you in your darkness. I do not abruptly take my love away from you. I forgive you and allow you the room to move forward and be a better person.

.

I see the Hemphill hooker is back in business.

.

To a certain person: You sit by yourself at church because no one likes you. The reason they don’t is the way you treated your dying mother. I think I would just stay home.

.

On July 4, gas was about $3.20 a gallon for regular. A couple of weeks later it is $3.43. How in the world is that justified? Is it the country, economy or the greed of these owners of these big gas companies? This is ridiculous.

.

According to an article in the July 10 edition of The Mountain Eagle on page 4, America gives Egypt $1.5 billion each year, yet Kentucky cannot afford to pay kinship care for children left in the care of their grandparents or family. It’s $300 a month. There is something wrong here in America when they are giving away money to foreign countries.

.

The way I look at it, if people are true Christians they will help others who are in need, especially an innocent child. Recently, I observed a woman ask a cashier if she could call the owners of a store and explain to them that she needed something for her infant child. Instead of them helping they said it wasn’t their responsibility. I have also seen a lot of this type of stuff out of the local churches lately. They should ask, ‘What would Jesus do?’

.

A few who are dehydrated drink a sip of water. That’s H2O. If you are having conniptions, try to smother yourself. If you are hyperventilating use a paper bag soaked in vinegar. These remedies have been proven to work. Try it. You might like it.

.

To a certain woman: What is your problem? Why don’t you get over yourself and stop being a backbiter? We don’t like that in the family, so get over yourself.

.

My, my. I just saw pudding and pie. It made me so sick I thought I was going to die.

.

The school-based clinics are nice for those whose insurances cover the visits, but for some children the visits aren’t covered. I know of a couple of instances where sick children had to wait at school until their parents could pick them up and take them to a doctor’s office. The program is not free to all.

.

Could I make a suggestion to the Letcher County Board of Education? Please don’t use public funds to finance the appeal of the Attorney General’s opinion on the Open Meetings Law. This would be total mismanagement and gross misuse of public funds. Instead ask churches, civic organizations, clubs, businesses and the general public to donate the funds for this litigation. These groups have responded generously in the past, and then we will see how much support the school board has for this senseless activity.

.

I’m not an educated person, but I am going to attempt to answer the question ‘Could God make a rock so big that he couldn’t pick it up?’ Well, God is a god of purpose. He made the rain to fall so the green grass could grow and our food to grow. He is a God of purpose. He created the little birds so we could enjoy hearing them sing. He created us so we could love and be kind to one another. God is a god of purpose. There would be no purpose in him making a rock so big that he could not pick it up.

.

I could not get my Mountain Eagle on Wednesday because of printing problems. According to something I read on Facebook from The Mountain Eagle, someone out of Pike County had to print the paper. It was worth the extra day’s wait. I can actually read without having to get a magnifying glass to read the entire paper. The print is so beautiful, black and dark. I think you might want to think about switching printers. Thanks again, Mountain Eagle. We love you guys.

.

It’s a sad day in Letcher County when someone gets arrested and they need rehab and they ask for rehab, but the judge chooses not to give them rehab because they are related to someone who is against the judge or are related someone is involved in the case.

.

I wonder if Sam Wright sleeps good at night for all of the bad sentencing he does. I would like to ask him that question.

.

I agree wholeheartedly with the former board member’s letter to the Letcher County Board of Education asking them to drop the appeal of the Attorney General’s opinion. Many of my colleagues who are directly or indirectly involved with the school system are deeply disturbed with recent school board decisions. The refusal to fund a teacher for the law and justice program was indeed thoughtless, but to challenge the law i.e. AG opinion was even more thoughtless. Flip a coin. Either save money or throw it away. Choose one.

.

I was reading in The Mountain Eagle a couple of weeks ago where the grand jury had enough evidence to indict Mr. Wright, the scrap yard man. I wonder what they will do this time. Will he get another slap on the hand and then be let go?

.

Attention City of Neon administrators: I wondered how long it would take someone to write about the junkyard in and about Neon. It is a terrible eyesore as you enter Neon and as you leave Neon on Highway 317. You all know it is. Now we all know the owner has money, but does that stop the city from getting him to clean up these places? I have to agree that if it were anyone else they would be made to clean it up at whatever cost. With all the towns including yours promoting tourism, what must people think after they have entered Neon? These places should at least be required to have nice privacy fences enclosing the junk. If you are going to promote tourism, then clean the area up. I won’t even mention the old A&P building. Let’s see some action now, Neon city administrators.

The most beautiful person I ever saw in death was Lizzie Elswick. Her funeral services, flowers and songs were perfect. I don’t know who was responsible for making her casket and clothes, but it was Immaculate and showed great love for her. It all matched perfectly. Lizzie went away in style and she deserved every bit of it. She was so precious and she would have been so pleased.

.

Hey man with the big red truck. The best way to haul a hog is in the back, not in the cab with you.

.

To a certain person: Your torrid love-affair comments captured my attention. Your symbolic representation of an actual event was the product of a very fertile imagination. Too bad not a single school board member will be able to unravel the content, but keep up the good work. We need folks like you after the school board members.

.

The Mayking Post Office is still a very dangerous place. Be careful when you come out of the lobby door because there will be rednecks zooming in for a landing that may hit you.

.

This is the old cat killer. The reason I don’t kill coyotes is because they eat cats and dogs. A pack of them can whip a big dog and eat it.

.

To whoever you are: I would like to thank you for last week’s compliment in Speak Your Piece. You must be a very perspicacious and precocious individual. It is refreshing to know that you are able to discern what is important and what is not in Speak Your Piece. However, if it isn’t applicable to you, you need not worry about it. It is not likely that a phantom is on hard drugs, but being a midnight phantom this could be true. I would like to also thank the editor of Speak Your Piece for the response to your comment. This is the Midnight Phantom speaking clearly, slowly and to the point. Have a nice week and be good to yourself.

.

To a certain woman: Glad to hear you have your prized boyfriend back. Just don’t mention a power bill around him. Just tell your other boyfriend — his daddy — to pay it for you and you all will be a happy family.

.

<b>I’m calling in response to a comment in last week’s Speak Your Piece about ‘a big fat red-headed woman in church the other day in a pair of jogging pants with stripes down the side and a big sloppy shirt.’ The commenter went on to question if this is what society has come to. I would just like to ask the person who put that comment in to remember The Ten Commandments — one being that thou shall not judge — and to consider that perhaps it was the first time that woman had gotten out of her house since the loss of a child or husband. I would ask that the person who made that comment take a very long look in the mirror to see if they are in fact so much better. Are you sure that God won’t allow someone who shows up to church in a pair of jogging pants into the gates of heaven? Jesus, our King of Kings, was wrapped in swaddling.

I just want to throw my two-cents’ worth in on the Zimmerman trial. It’s a tragedy the young boy was killed. No boy that young needs to be shot and killed. At the same time, it seems to me that President Obama and the mainstream media have taken a sworn oath not to report the killings that go on daily in Chicago. A plane crashed in San Francisco around July 4 and two people were killed. Nine people were killed in Chicago in one day and it didn’t even make the evening news. Now, you can’t tell me there isn’t something behind that. That is just basic math; they won’t report it. Those young ones are just as important as Trayvon Martin was and they loved them just as much. They cried their eyes out to, but it was never mentioned. It’s like they want to put that under a rug because they don’t want it to get out. It is aggravating. Nothing is being done about it.

(With all due respect to your comment, the staggering number of murders that have been occurring the last few years in parts of Chicago do get serious attention from the ‘mainstream media,’ particularly in newspapers. Is certainly has been no secret that 506 murders occurred in Chicago during 2012, mostly on the city’s Southwest Side. Few cases have ever received as much ink as the murder of Porshe Foster, the 15-year-old African American girl who was gunned down November 26, 2012 while standing in the wrong place at the wrong time — the back yard of her family home. The bullet that hit Miss Foster, an honor student and basketball player, was a stray intended for a gang member. Likewise, the case of a murdered sixmonth old baby girl also received massive amounts of ink when Chicago police confirmed she was killed with five bullets intended for her gang-member father. And surely you have heard of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, the high school honors student and majorette shot to death in a Chicago park on January 29 — also by an errant bullet meant for a gang member.)

Hello. My name is Pearl Anne Belcher. I am calling about a family who really needs the public’s help. They are Will and Faye Tackett. She has brain cancer and we are taking up donations for them so they can get back and forth to the doctor’s visits. We urgently give from the heart. Be compassionate. Donations can go to Community Trust Bank under Wade Tackett. We appreciate all of your help. Thank you and God bless.
