For all who had anything to do with getting rid of my stuff at the America Legion: You know who you are, and I hope and pray to God that I live long enough to see the things that have happened to me happen to you. It wasn’t bad enough that my trailer burned and I was in the hospital twice. All I did was leave some of my stuff up there. I wasn’t able to go get it. I didn’t have a truck. And the one who loaded my stuff up and hauled it off did have a truck and could have brought my stuff to me. The only thing I ever tried to do for that club and its members was to be good to you. That’s the thanks I get. If the people of Letcher County knew how dirty you were, I don’t think they would like you very well. I hope you all can lie down and sleep at night knowing the way you did me.

.

If you want to buy hard moonshine, come down here and see the big fat man. He has your drugs, moonshine, whiskey and just about anything you want.

.

County Judge/Executive Jim Ward talks about all the coal jobs that have been cut here. Well, he should of thought about that when he gave the gas company a free pass to drill anywhere it likes. So people, when he runs again be sure to remember this.

.

To the cat woman: You need to get your cats off of the porch. They are starting to smell.

.

I was calling about the recent article in The Mountain Eagle about the audit that was conducted on the Letcher County Board of Education, Superintendent Anna Craft and Assistant Superintendent Twyla Messer. I think that it is a shame that The Mountain Eagle is always taking up for Craft. Clearly from the findings, we as Letcher Countians can see she included way too much during her stay. Sure she needed to eat and stay in hotels while she was out collecting money for the school system, but she didn’t have to stay in $200 hotels and eat $60 and $70 meals at a time. I think with Mr. Sergent you will see cheaper hotels and less spent on meals. I think The Mountain Eagle needs to quit taking up for Mrs. Craft. I think from the get-go the paper has been a bully to the Letcher County board chairman because he and the board had wanted to get rid of Mrs. Craft. Every time there is an article printed showing misconduct done by Mrs. Craft, The Mountain Eagle makes it look like nothing bad was done. I wish The Mountain Eagle would start reporting the news and quit reporting garbage. I’m sure this won’t get reported like normal, but freedom of speech it should.

(Unless you are a school board member you would know nothing about any of the specifics in the auditor’s preliminary findings if not for the reporting of The Mountain Eagle. Would it have been good reporting if we hadn’t asked Mrs. Craft for a response? Also, The Eagle has been bullying no member of the school board unless you define bullying as asking a government body to please follow the Kentucky Open Meetings Law. And when before this latest auditor’s report has there ever been any mention of what you refer to as misconduct by Mrs. Craft?)

.

I would like to suggest that somebody paint the garbage disposal right in front of the Cumberland River Community Center. That is sure a neat place, but the garbage disposal is an eyesore. Why don’t you all consider painting it while you are not busy?

.

Someone stated in last week’s Speak Your Piece that ‘we can be proud of ourselves when we are civil when facing an idiot.’ Were they referring to the person in charge of the Jenkins Independent School System by any chance?

.

In regards to the opinion piece from August 7 about the proposed prison for Letcher County, I too hope people attended the meeting with BOP representatives. However, I take a very different position than that offered by this newspaper. Hopefully, those in attendance on August 13 directly questioned the easy answers provided by the BOP and the Letcher County Planning Commission. While it would seem ‘common sense’ that prison construction and operation bring jobs and economic development, there is a growing body of journalistic and academic literature that demonstrates, quite significantly, that prisons do not bring the economic development to rural communities that their boosters promise. In fact, prisons can depress rural economic growth. Prisons are also not ‘recession proof,’ as money departs and, as criminal justice policy changes, prisons do close. Letcher County residents deserve jobs and economic security. Please listen critically to what the BOP is selling you. Ask the tough questions. Appalachia can have a bright future without prisons.

.

We used to go to church with a certain couple. For him to be a preacher man like she says he is, he curses like a sailor, goes to flea markets every day and draws S.S.I. How do you get away with that? A certain grocery store was mighty glad to give up a video of your wife slapping that little girl in the face. You better get a check on her. And receiving stolen property and selling it? I wouldn’t allow you to preach over my dog. I’d be afraid you would send it down.

.

The Hemphill hooker doesn’t work at Walmart. She works for herself.

.

Why did the new Letcher County superintendent quit having school board meetings filmed?

.

If were two certain people at UZ I would be afraid to show my face in church. They have two children. They helped the drug addict in prison but the other one gets nothing. This is from their cousin. Have a good night.

.

I have read in the newspaper before that Appalshop was awarded $51,000, and I wonder if this money came from coal severance tax money. I believe their agenda is against coal and that money could be used to help out-of-work coal miners and their families.

(The only grant awarded to Appalshop in the past few years that resembles anything near $51,000 and was reported by newspapers in Kentucky was a $59,621 grant awarded by the Kentucky Arts Council in July 2009. The Arts Council is not funded by severance taxes on coal and natural gas.)

.

I soon will be 60 and I am a registered Democrat, but with the Obama administration and the way things are going in this country I will not vote for another Democrat for office. The only Democratic vote I will make will be for Letcher County Sheriff Danny Webb if he runs again and Wayne Fleming if he runs for county judge. Those are the only two Democrats I will ever vote for again.

.

Does the hooker live next door to the post office or where?

.

I’d like to wish Alyssa Newman of Jenkins a happy 16th birthday on August 30. Happy birthday from her grandparents, Jimmy and Mary Newman. We love you, Alyssa. Happy birthday.

.

Happy birthday to a certain lady on August 25. I will never forget about you and I will always love you.

.

Roland Craft, the chief of police, talked about that shooting at Jenkins and said all of those Jenkins cops did everything right. He is proud of them. As a former police officer, that about made me puke. They have no idea how to secure a crime scene. They stumble all over crime scenes. They work with no experience whatsoever for nine months, then they take a little crash course. They have no idea how to handle something like that. They hire family and friends. That’s what makes me mad about it. They need to hire people that can do a job. Something is going to happen that we are going to need qualified officers and we aren’t going to have them. Just so they can play their little games and play cop, we are going to have to pay for it. It’s really sad.

.

These guys are getting away with murder at a certain restaurant and nobody is doing anything about it. They are getting paid cash and our coal miners can’t get a job. It isn’t fair.

.

To the junction blonde: I can’t believe you didn’t know what was going on in your house, right under your nose back in the day.

.

This is from a concerned mother about her daughter who lives in West Whitesburg. The boy who got her pregnant walked off and left her. He is no good and never will be any good, and I am really getting sick and tired of him hurting my daughter. He’s got a beautiful little boy and something is going to be done or he is going to get hurt. I’m sick of this. No one is perfect, but I will tell you one thing, the boy will pay child support. And if he doesn’t start helping my daughter he will get his butt kicked. The boy lives on Sergent. He needs to do the right thing. I hope and pray that you put this in the newspaper.

.

To that special man of mine at Little Sandy: I want you to know that I love you and I miss you. We’ve talked about me putting this in Speak Your Piece, so hopefully you will get to see it. Love from your little mama.

.

We would like to wish our niece Emma Paige Myer a happy first birthday. We love you. Love, Aunt Missy, Uncle Charles and cousin James.

.

As a Letcher County taxpayer I would like to know when the Letcher County Fiscal Court got a taxi service at our taxpayers’ expense? It made a run to Millstone to pick up a lady and then bring her back home. Is this one of the sacrifices the county judge has to make?

.

Shame. Shame. Who is to blame? Let’s not linger, just point the finger and we are out of here. Does that sound familiar? That can be the dialogue of any recent Letcher County Board of Education meeting. Why do we elect public officials who refuse to exercise any oversight responsibilities? If you can’t take the time or make the effort to carry out your official duties, then you need to go away and stay away.

.

I want to say happy first birthday, Sissy. Love, your big sister, Olivia.

.

I’d like to comment on the new Hillbillies BBQ. I got the chance to eat there. The place is very clean and the service is great. On their ribs they nailed it and knocked it out of the ballpark. However, their sandwiches are surprisingly small for the price they charge of $6.99 a plate. They used small buns for the burgers. The French fires should have been home cut fries instead of out-of-the-bag fries. It took the stab out of the down home flavor. Just thought I would pass that along. To anyone who wants great barbeque, I suggest you go there. Those were the best ribs I have eaten.

.

I want to say happy fifth birthday to my great niece Carlie Shae Stamper. We love you. Love Aunt Missy and family.

.

I want to wish my granddaughter Emma Myer a happy first birthday. We love you very much. Love, Mamaw and Papaw.

.

We would like to wish our niece Amy Wilder Mullins a happy big birthday. We love you.

.

Olivia Grace Myer, we love you very much. Love, Aunt Missy, Uncle Charlie and Cousin J.D.

.

To a certain woman: Do you remember when you made my child out to be such a bad person? Well, look what yours has done. Come home to you, huh? What goes around, comes around.

.

Last year, the Letcher County Schools superintendent and the Letcher County Board of Education asked for donations to send the band and ROTC to Washington for the inaugural parade. Now that we have a glimpse at how loosely travel funds are handled and spent by the Letcher County School System, can we please ask for an accounting for those donated funds that were given? How much was given? How much was spent? How was it spent? Provide receipts for expenditures? Did the superintendent or a board member monitor the spending of these funds? Can we make a request for an accounting of these funds or do we need to make the request through the state auditor’s office?

.

Speaking of low self-esteem, this is especially for whom this concerns and may not feel good enough for herself or himself so they are in search of self-esteem by getting compliments from other women or men. There are many men and woman who do cheat. Many say that it is for attention because maybe the man or woman is bored with their current love life and wants something exciting. Depending on a person’s upbringing, he or she may not really know what love is. They may be doing what they were brought up to do. This may tend to confuse a person who was brought up in a loving home.

.

This is just a heads up to the people who are abusing the horse at Neon. It doesn’t look like it has any clean water, nowhere to roam or walk or nothing to eat. It is in a slime pit, I guess you call a yard. It has no grass or anything. It is just tied to a fence like people do to a dog. It doesn’t have a lot of room or anything. It is disgusting. It is abuse and I want to see what I can do about it. I just wanted to give you a heads up. You will probably be getting a visit from somebody. I’m going to make some calls.

.

Listen up, readers of Speak Your Piece. Next week in this column I will be making a shocking prediction. Here is a hint: Who will sing a swan song for me? So get out there and get a copy of The Mountain Eagle before it is sold out. I suggest the publisher print extra editions for that week. I have not broken a promise since April 6, 1940. This is the Midnight Phantom speaking. Check with you next week. Thank you very much.

.

I don’t know how this lovely, sweet woman could raise three terrible children.

.

I’ve seen on numerous occasions a Letcher County’s deputy car almost at Sassafras in Knott County. It is almost every evening around quitting time. They talk about finances and cutting expenses. Why in the world is a deputy in Letcher County who lives in Knott County driving that car back and forth burning that gas? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Aren’t there any qualified people in Letcher County who can be deputies? Let him work in Knott County. Have him park his cruiser and drive his own vehicle because that is an expense to taxpayers.

.

Happy first birthday to Emma Paige. We love you. Aunt Missy, Uncle Charlie and Cousin James.

.

It seems that deafening silence has taken its toll on you. I do pity you though, trying to interact with someone who could care less about you. There is help for someone like you. They can help you let go of the past. You were the one who was made a fool of by the very same person who’s deafening you with silence, but you were not smart enough to know. Just saying.

.

To the lady who responded to the two women: You need to ignore them. I’ve told you they’ll pay for what they do. They’ve lied and been spiteful for years. They’ll find out how their men are. They might be the last to know, but they’ll eat their words. You have a good thing going. That’s why they do that stuff.

.

We want to wish our baby girl Emma Paige a very happy first birthday on Sunday, August 18. This past year has flown by so fast. You have brought so much joy to our lives. We love you so very much. Mommy and Daddy.

.

It is not whether a married man can love his wife and other women, but should he? People are capable of loving many people in a variety of relationships, but a married man that really loves his wife is not usually going to love other women at the same time. That dishonors his wife, which is not a very good way of demonstrating love for another, especially your spouse. We all can love lots of people in a different way, like a close friend, the godparents of our child and so on. But for you to ask if a married man can love his wife and the other woman called ‘mistress’ is very wrong. How can a man love his wife if he will hurt her by loving another woman he’s having an affair with? How can you love your wife by having two different lives? We will not talk about ‘the bills of right’ but we can talk about what’s right and what’s wrong. Maybe you love your wife, but not 100%, and your family is your security away from the other woman. Your wife is your ‘jack of all trades’ and the other woman is your fun life. Your wife is the one that does dishes, washes your dirty clothes, cooks your meal, hears you snore, and raises your children. She’s the one that takes care of them, waits for you to come home and so many other things. Your other woman deserves your love because all she does is to make you happy, maybe listens to you talk, and goes out to a nice dinner with you occasionally while your wife cooks and waits for you? All of the qualities I wrote here, the man that I married did to his mistress. So now how do you think I felt when the man that I married told me that he loves his mistress?
