I am directly related to what seems like a large number of people there and have little to no family here on the west coast. I do not wish to contact the person partially responsible for my birth, but would like to hear from other members of the Looney family. If anyone has any information they would like to share with me, it would be great to hear from any, or all of you. Please contact me at iluvdaizies@yahoo.com.

.

That sure didn’t take time to figure out. After Sunday night service I see now that special members of the family get certain privileges. That is pretty evident.

Husbands who have had an affair often realize that what they were looking for is the woman at home who knows them better than anyone else. At the end of the day, cheating husbands usually come to realize they were attempting to live in a fantasy world that could not possibly last or be healthy. There will usually come a time when he will realize the problem he was running from has not gone away and that now he has even more problems. It’s usually at this point that it becomes crystal clear that he would have been much better off staying home and working through his issues with his spouse like a mature adult. He realizes that the relationship with the mistress has no real foundation and no real history. He can no longer deny that the two of them are virtually strangers and yet here he is, risking what he has worked so hard for and held so dear over something so silly. Where he used to retreat knowing that his wife knew all his weaknesses and vulnerability, the affair will show him that the wife’s knowledge of him and ability to stand with him is something that he should have appreciated and surrendered to rather than running away from. So yes, many married men who cheat do return to their wives. Whether their wives will take them back or not is a completely different question. I know that dealing with his affair, no matter when it happened, can be very challenging and painful, but it can truly be worth it. Although I never would’ve believed it myself, I did eventually truly get over it, but it was worth it. Because of all the work I did on myself, my self-esteem is at an all time high.

.

The answer is no and that is final. I have a warrant for your arrest, which I can have served at anytime. My advice is to be careful.

.

Thank you, God, for my angel. I really, really love my angel.

.

How about some of you single gals who are widowed or divorced come up to Jenkins Mountain at the overlook Saturday night about 8:30 p.m. to meet up with some of us old divorced or widowed men? Let’s have a reunion and a get-together.

.

Thank goodness we have at least one magistrate in our county that will stand up to Judge Jim Ward and demand the right thing is being done. Thank you, Wayne Fleming, for the great work you do for Letcher County.

.

To citizens of Jenkins and the surrounding areas: Please sign the petition requesting the reopening of Jenkins Community Hospital. Everyone in our county deserves quality emergency care. Anyone can become suddenly ill or have an accident. This facility has saved many lives and has preserved the golden hour of life for many people. This will always help our county’s economy with good paying jobs lost to the war on coal. Please go by Jenkins City Hall, Dr. Heath Cook’s office, Boggs Pharmacy or the Jenkins Public Library and sign the petition. Please help get your hospital back.

.

To a certain person: I truly believe that I loved you for who you are and tried to understand the things about you that don’t make sense. I have forgiven you for hurtful things you have said and mistakes you have made that are far graver than anything I have done. What is it that makes me not deserve the same amount of forgiveness? Haven’t I shown myself time and again as someone who is kind hearted, willing to take responsibility for my failures, and is always trying to learn from my mistakes. If we don’t allow the people we love room to make mistakes, to grow and be a better person, then we will be alone in this world. Everyone struggles with their own demons, so why trap others as their demons and make that darkness who they are? It does this world no good.

.

This is to that Midnight Phantom: You better look out, and if you can’t see you better get somebody to look out for you.

.

All of the newspapers, radio, TV, school events and everything else use twoword name that appalls me. The term is corn hole, which is slang for sodomy. People who publish this should do some research on it and see how bad it really does sound.

(Get your mind out of the gutter. The term today is used mostly to describe the game in which teams of two try to toss beanbags into a hole at the far end on a slanted platform.)

.

I’m just curious why The Mountain Eagle that is being mailed out to another part of the state doesn’t have a sports page and articles like ‘Struttin’ Time by Steve Brewer. I’m curious why you don’t have those in the newspapers that are mailed out.

(Please phone us at 633- 2252 and let us know if you continue to have this problem. The same paper that is sold in Letcher County is mailed out of state with the exception of coupons and advertising circulars.)

.

It looks like the fiscal court has another version of Terry Braddock. Wayne Fleming has been hanging around him for too long. He thinks everybody does everything wrong but him.

.

This is what happens when one has cried ‘wolf.’ Russia is against military action in Syria claiming we are going back to the ‘kill first, ask questions later’ policy of the last administration. So glad we now have a President who is very, very thoughtful about using lethal force. In fact it’s completely refreshing.

.

The old man from McRoberts who goes to the Boone Fork Senior Citizens Center in Fleming is like a big butterfly when he enters the room. He just lights the whole room up and the women make over him. Us men sit back and just look. One of them used to get all of the hugs, but now he doesn’t get them and he is kind of peeved about it. He’s just all of it to these women here at the center.

.

Dear Speak Your Piece: I sure feel sorry for people with genuine pain problems. In the state of Kentucky, you have the doctors hamstrung from giving pain meds to people with genuine pain problems. Even if you do get pain meds you are under prescribed. This is the worst thing you can do to a person with genuine pain. The doctors have no compassion. So no wonder there are pain meds on the street.

.

If there’s a worse Mc- Donald’s than what we’re stuck with in Whitesburg, I pray to God I never have to eat there. How hard can it be to stack two beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions onto a sesame seed bun, put the dang thing in the box without squishing it and get it to the right customer without forgetting to include a napkin? Is there any I.Q. requirement for those being hired by McDonald’s? Does McDonald’s as a corporation have people in the region who check on these franchises for quality control? If they do, they need to fire the inspector for eastern Kentucky for not doing their job. Hopefully, I have just had my last McDonald’s meal thanks to the staff at the Whitesburg location. I simply cannot take the bad food and poor service anymore.

.

I wonder what the Freewill Baptist Church would think of you not caring if anybody lived or died. I thought people professing as Christians were supposed to love everyone.

.

I’d like to Speak My Piece. I see once again Isom Days is coming up with the same old crap again. I don’t know why they have the same old rodeo every year and the same old clowns and the same old bulls. That stuff is getting to be too old. They always claim they are going to have skydivers or something new and they never do. And you know what? They never have a car, bike and truck show like they do in Whitesburg. They are afraid it will cause too much of a disturbance.

(Have you thought about volunteering to serve on the Isom Days Committee? It’s highly likely the current volunteers could use some extra hands and appreciate hearing some different ideas.)

.

The pastor’s son has been in jail again. This time it is for DUI.

.

I called Speak Your Piece two weeks ago and posted a comment about the school board and how they are finding out how Anna Laura Craft spent funds and stuff. The Mountain Eagle editor responded, saying that I must be a school board member. No, I’m not a school board member. That audit talking about Mrs. Craft is public record. You should know all about public records since The Mountain Eagle is trying to stir stink about the Open Meetings Law. I agree with the board on holding closed sessions at their meetings. It has been done that way for the past 20 years, but after the new board members get in there The Mountain Eagle finally decides they are going to call the Attorney General over something that has been done the same exact way for the last 20 years. I just find it funny that when the new board members were wanting rid of Anna Laura Craft The Mountain Eagle went after them like stink on crap. Money has been misappropriated. During the tenure of Mrs. Craft, certain coaches were allowed to go out to strip clubs and to the state tournaments every year. I used to be an assistant coach helper. I know. Why doesn’t The Mountain Eagle ask Mrs. Craft about how she used to get one certain person out of trouble when he would go to the tournament games in Lexington and Louisville and get caught DUI at strip clubs after hitting parked cars and stuff? None of that comes out in The Mountain Eagle because they are on Mrs. Craft’s side. The Mountain Eagle and Sally Barto and Ben Gish are yellow reporters. They report what people want to hear, but not the truth. For the last two or three years the school system has gone downhill and it is starting to turn around. I think the current board is doing a great job and I commend them for the job they are doing. All you have to do is call Frankfort and get copies of the reports. It is all public record. It doesn’t take a fool to see that instead of going and eating at Wendy’s, Mrs. Craft ate a $75 meal. That is misappropriating funds. That’s my tax dollars. I wish I could take off and eat a $75 meal instead of having to eat at Dairy Queen every morning. Thank you.

(To date, The Mountain Eagle has been the only newspaper in Kentucky that has reported any of the findings contained in a preliminary audit report concerning the Letcher County School System. The requested audit is not final yet; therefore it is not available yet. Also, we never called the Attorney General’s Office, nor did we say you were a member of the school board. And what is an ‘assistant coach helper’? That’s a job title we have never heard before in the county school system. How much were you paid?)

.

To the blonde in the black car: It looks like your man is back at it. You must be numb.

.

To the person who keeps complaining about the restaurant that isn’t paying taxes: Yes, they are paying taxes or they wouldn’t be in business. And the coalmines are a thing of the past. Just because you can ‘t make money anymore doesn’t mean you have to get mad at somebody else for making money. Maybe you should find another kind of job.

.

Does goggle eyes lay eggs? She has legs that look just like a chicken’s.

.

To the most beautiful girl in Letcher County who works at a certain deli at a certain grocery store: All I can remember is that time I walked by and you smiled and I smiled. You are so beautiful.

.

To a certain person concerning the way you acted at a funeral: You ought to be more polite toward a mother and daughter instead of standing there staring at them and whispering to your aunt. If your husband knew how you cut up and carried on at your job, he probably would be coming to Jenkins to check it out. So if I were you, I would be more cautious about how I talk about people, looking at them and whispering, because you might get yourself in trouble. I think the best thing you could do is apologize to those two people that came there. I think you should present yourself a little bit better out in public than what you have done.

.

What animosity toward someone that you don’t care if they live or die. Woman, you need prayers. You need to pray for yourself. You need to grow up and let it go. You were left behind, which is not good, but you need to get over it.

.

The one writing in and putting down Whitco is the one that had to leave Whitco. Whitco is not a bad place.

.

By my understanding, local mayors can’t be living out of state. I wish somebody would correct this problem. By the way, I was driving through Jenkins the other night in front of the new swimming pool and I hit a big pothole. I thought I busted a tire on my truck. Luckily, I didn’t. They need to do something about that.

.

What’s up with the new barbeque place in Whitesburg? I’m not paying $10 for a sandwich and fries. Not today.

(And hot dogs used to sell for 20 cents in the late Sixties. Have you checked out the prices at the fast-food places lately?)

.

Is it illegal to live in one state and be a mayor in another state? I can’t figure this one out. Can you, G.C.?

(While Kentucky’s Constitution says a civil officer such as a mayor is to reside in the city or town he or she serves, recently-divorced Jenkins Mayor G.C. Kincer says he has been assured by the Kentucky League of Cities that he is not in violation of any residency requirement while he lives temporarily in nearby Pound, Va., while trying to obtain another home in which to live in Jenkins. Kincer has been told he must have a new residence in Jenkins by the time all legal proceedings involving his divorce have been made final.)

.

You can be evil for now, but you will face the Lord either now or on judgment day. Maybe if you weren’t so mean and evil your son wouldn’t have done what he did. You should be the one down there in his place because you have hurt so many people with your evil ways. Read Colossians 3:13 on forgiveness, sister.

.

What did Judge Ward and the Letcher County Fiscal Court do to celebrate the anniversary of Martin Luther King Junior’s ‘Dream Speech’? I somehow missed it.

.

To a certain person: I heard you were acting affectionately inappropriate at a funeral. You should be ashamed of yourself to show that much disrespect. You should leave your affection at home if you are going to act like a lush. People actually are ashamed for you.

.

Looks like Mitchell Wright got how many more indictments? When he and Harley Jack Slone got indicted, Wright’s other indictments disappeared. I wonder if these will disappear, too. This is a good question.

.

If the American Legion on Pine Mountain is wondering what is happening to their business, they need to talk to their two grouchy bartenders. We used to go up there all the time but anymore they are so hateful and smart with you and they are half drunk. You need to talk to your bartender and see what is going on with your business.

.

Why does the news media lie to the American people? They lie and say the recession is over, but in truth, our economy has just been propped up, and it is soon going to fall suddenly. Our president has destroyed our nation’s economy by lying to the American people about global warming. Global warming is a flat lie. Read Genesis 8:22. Read that. We have a president that has bailed out the auto industry and destroyed the coal industry. Why doesn’t he brag about the jobs he has destroyed and all the money he wasted on the bailouts? Our people are hurting in this nation and our Senators and Congressmen have no backbone to stand for what is right and impeach this man that is destroying our nation. He is destroying our nation morally with his ungodly agenda of men lying with men. It is still a sin and sin will still take you to eternal hell except you who repent.
