In recent editions of Speak Your Piece, I have been reading about all the negative comments toward Gordon Volunteer Fire Department. I know for a fact that if this continues somebody is going to get hurt. Keep it up and you are going to be called out.

The primary election is past and gone, but I wonder why you didn’t print two Wednesdays in a row what I had to say concerning voting for Bobby Ray Howard and Danny Webb. Could you still print this Wednesday? It would be greatly appreciated. Vote for Bobby Howard for magistrate and Danny Webb for sheriff. Some people need to let me take care of my own business. Thank you, Stanley Pack.

To a certain woman: You should have never married your husband in the first place because of the things you have done when you were pregnant. Everybody knows that you are trash and that is all you will ever be.

An eastern Kentucky job program will receive an additional $7.5 million to help deal with deep layoffs in the coal industry. The Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, which provides services in 23 counties, announced the grant from the U.S. Department of Labor on June 5. The money will help EKCEP continue its program called Hiring Our Miners Everyday, or H.O.M.E. Help stop this out of control government spending. We don’t need help from Washington and the Obama administration. Helping our laid off miners will just jack up the national debt. Vote Republican.

To the people in Gordon over here at the firehouse: You need to get rid of a certain person who is going to all your 911 calls and taking people’s pills and flushing them down commodes. If you all don’t stop him, we’re never going to have anything in Gordon.

If you have a lot of wealth, people will treat you differently, and that I don’t understand.

Why doesn’t someone report it to the county health board and see that something is done about people bringing filth, bed mattresses and junk to the Neon railroad yard and making a landfill out of it? They are stinking up the whole Neon area. Keep the filth where it belongs.

If you think I care about you badmouthing me, you have another think coming because I don’t care what you say. You can even put it on Facebook, because you are not my judge.

This is the old coffee break coal miner. I never said there was no such thing as black lung. The only thing I questioned is the cause of it. Is it coal dust in the mines or R.J. Reynolds tobacco? Most of the people who got black lung were smokers. I worked in the mines 44 years and I never said there was no such thing as black lung. I just questioned what was causing it. If R.J. Reynolds caused it, R.J. Reynolds should have to pay the money. If I hurt anyone’s feelings over telling the truth I apologize.

Coal is not your friend. Of course the coal industry is opposing the new environmental restrictions. The head honchos of the coal companies, and their boards of directors, do not live anywhere near the pollution that coal mining causes. Their houses probably have electronic air filters, and their drinking water does not come from a reservoir downstream from the mine. They don’t really care what happens to the residents of the coalfields because they see us as a ‘throw-away’ population. To them, we are cheap, and stupid, and easy to replace. Think about it.

There’s a lot of drug dealing going on at Long Branch. I think they are making meth in one house with children in there.

.

I think by now that everyone knows why a certain woman moved out of her house that she took away from her ex-husband. Everyone knows the reason she couldn’t live there.

Our county judge, Jim Ward, sponsors the gas companies that have taken all of our jobs. Now the fracking is destroying all of drinking water, thanks to the great Jim Ward and his mini-me.

Some angels come, some angels go, but mine is here to stay. I love you.

To a certain woman: You just keep right on living that hopeless dream of yours that you are going to be reunited with him and we’ll just keep right on laughing at you while I show him all the love in the world in every way that he can handle.

You look real good riding your eight-year-old stepson’s bicycle to the service station because you are too sorry to get a job and buy yourself a car. You look real good on that eight-year-old boy’s bicycle. What else are you going to do, you sorry thing?

Mitch McConnell wants to make it easier to lock up dangerous mental patients. However, he also made it easier for them to get guns.

I wish a certain restaurant in Jenkins would turn on their air conditioner. It is so hot in there and I feel so sorry for the workers in there. The cooks are sweating. When I went in there to eat it was so hot that I had to leave. They are running off their customers by keeping it so hot in there.

Happy Father’s Day to Lester Caudill. We love and miss you. Love, Frankie, Ramon and Matthew.

As I understand the new EPA regulations, one way a state can meet the requirements of pollution reduction is to increase energy efficiency of their citizens’ houses. Think about it. If we adopt a program to upgrade your house with better insulation and more efficient appliances, your electric usage will go down and more jobs will be created to find workers who can do the upgrades. Even if electricity rates go up, your payment could drop because you are not wasting as much power. Mining jobs are going to go down, no matter what, because the easy coal is gone and it takes fewer workers to reach what coal is left. If the coal companies could do all their mining with robots, they would lay off all the humans except the robot mechanics. How many of us have the training for that job. Start training now to be an energy upgrade technician.

She succeeds former superintendent Jack Burkich, who was suspended without pay by unanimous vote of the state school board after being charged with mismanagement. Basham will serve as superintendent until July 1, 1994, when Larry Ison will become superintendent. Burkich called the action unjustifi ed and said it will be fought every step of the way.
