The next mayor of Jenkins will have the unpleasant chore of having to dismiss at least a half-dozen new employees who were hired for jobs that don’t exist. The citizens of Jenkins are not stupid. The new occupational tax in Jenkins is being frittered away in various ways to keep the present administration in office. Wake up, Jenkins voters. We must clean house in November.

.

The Jenkins mayoral race promises to be the most hotly contested in recent history. The incumbent, G.C. Kincer, has filed. Joe DePriest has filed and four other potential candidates have indicated that they will be filing. Most of them will probably drop out of the race now that the highly respected and well-known Joe DePriest is in the race.

.

I am looking for a good woman who doesn’t keep dogs in her house.

.

My grandmother couldn’t vote when my mother was born. Conservatives opposed her getting the right to vote. I agree with conservatives. We may end up with a woman senator instead of Mitch McConnell who has done nothing and the woman will probably do nothing either. God bless you.

.

I think Jim Ward is one of the finest judges Letcher County ever had. He’s trying to get things done and he has a couple members of the fiscal court who don’t want him to do anything. Our coal severance tax money is down right now and putting a community center at Boone Fork doesn’t make sense when only three people from McRoberts attend Boone Fork Center. They can drive a couple of miles and go to Hemphill. They don’t have too many senior citizens at that center anyway. I wish the magistrates would pull together and help. Jim Ward is honest.

.

There is a dangerous pitbull running loose in Chopping Branch in McRoberts. I wish the dog warden would look into this.

.

If a certain someone in Merrillville thinks they are going to get Lot 3 with the container ID populated in it, they’ve got another think coming.

.

To the person who lives in Hemphill: I know your parents don’t know that you are at it again. The accident and near death experience didn’t teach you anything. If your family only knew the things that you have done, it would raise the hair on their heads.

.

This is the old cat killer. I am a man of my word. I bought a year’s subscription to make up for the lady who dropped hers. I don’t know if you want to put it in Speak Your Piece, but you can. I did what I said I would and I appreciate you people. Have a nice day.

(Thanks for renewing our subscription!)

.

I was just wondering if it is against the law to burn garbage. I thought it was. If it is, it is sure not being enforced because people are burning garbage every day.

.

The people in Gordon need to know what is going on at the firehouse. Just call Morris or Rhonda Lewis. Rhonda can tell you more about it, because she is chief at their firehouse now.

.

Some people think Obama screwed us. Well, Mitch McConnell tried to screw us and wasn’t able to do it. What Mitch McConnell wanted to do was tax people’s healthcare benefi ts.

.

There is a certain Internet blog out there that is currently doing a radio tour in a certain state. Keep up the good work.

.

Eastern Kentucky, you are not as good as southcentral Kentucky.

.

To people who take their dogs with them everywhere they go: Leave them at home. You don’t have to take your dog everywhere you go.

.

Mitch McConnell doesn’t say that he is for Kentucky coal. He says he is for coal. Coal that is being used for Kentucky is coming from Illinois.

.

When people need you they treat you so good. It doesn’t take long to figure out who your friends are. Now it is payback time to all you people who took from me and never came to see me when I was sick or asked about me when I lost my home.

.

They say that 47 percent of the people don’t pay taxes, and you have to pay taxes when you buy food from McDonald’s. That means 47 percent of the people never buy food from McDonald’s.

.

More people want the Constitution and the Bible in the courthouse and the schools. Most people don’t have the Bible or the Ten Commandments in their home. They want to show off their religion instead of practice it.

.

Can we cut off the fireworks please? Seriously. It’s after 11 p.m.

.

Once the Letcher County Government Channel has something good on like some of the old Jenkins Days Festivals, they cut it off and go to a city council meeting or something that we have seen millions of times. I’m sick and tired of it.

.

Some ask about hypocrites. If you will read Matthew 23 Jesus spoke to hypocrites that sit in high seats and called them serpents. Matthew 24 to 30. If you love your brother and serve God you will be delivered before the council. God have mercy on the council. Thank you.

.

There are many hypocrites in all walks of life. From the politicians that talk about reform, but still will not vote for a change in anything, to the mother that tells her children not to smoke, while she’s got a cigarette in her hand. The most talked about hypocrites are the ones in religion, and they are the most morally reprehensible. Just make sure, before you accuse anyone of being a hypocrite, that you are not one yourself. If you have a problem with someone, the Bible says to go to that person and talk to them about whatever is bothering you. If you talk about them instead of to them, you are a gossip. If you talk about people in Speak Your Piece, you are a gossip, and probably a hypocrite yourself.
