A lady needs to clean up her junky and messy front porch and deck. It’s an eyesore to our community.

.

When Dr. David Narramore gets elected as mayor we can kiss our Bike Nites goodbye, just like we have already kissed our car shows goodbye because the Whitesburg City Council and the Letcher Fiscal Court do not like car shows whatsoever. They are 100 percent totally against it because First Baptist Church rules the town of Whitesburg. We were going to have a distillery put in, but no these do-good churchgoers tell us we can’t have anything. It’s time to vote Mayor Craft back into office and put Mr. Narramore in his place.

.

To the liberal Mr. Hallelujah who tried to impersonate himself as a conservative in last week’s Speak Your Piece in order to try to make Mitch McConnell appear to be Harry Reid: During Senator Reid’s last six years as Senate President, 260 pieces of legislation passed by the House have all stayed on Harry Reid’s desk. Most of this captured legislation pertains to coal, the EPA, the Corps of Engineers and the Midwest Pipeline that affects all of our jobs and livelihoods. I know you ‘do-nothings’ are worried about your freebies, but you should be smart enough to put the blame where it really deserves to be and hope that Mitch McConnell can help put our national debt back on track before inflation gets completely out of hand.

.

Why were people giving Councilman Rick Damron such a hard time in last weeks paper? He’s the only one on the Jenkins council that can think. He’s clearly the smartest one and generally is a good decision maker. The rest are on the short end of the brain stick and the short end of the common sense stick. Soon, some of them will be gone, gone, gone.

.

To a certain person: You remain in my heart and thoughts. Today would have been your birthday. I pray you are at peace. I still miss you.

.

Kentucky doesn’t need Mitch McConnell, but the Republicans in Washington do so they can continue their war on the middle class and the poor. With Mitch back in office, the rich will continue to get richer, especially him.

.

John Wyatt, you have lost your mind? Your comment is Speak Your Piece a couple of weeks ago was completely inaccurate, which is only one of the reasons you should not be running for mayor, council member or even dog catcher. If you want to talk ‘open records,’ let’s be open about the happenings of a few years ago. Do you want to fill us in on that a little more? Do the city a favor and drop out of this race.

.

I stopped at Burdine Elementary School last week to sign my kid out of school early. While I was there, you should have heard the way a certain person was talking to the teachers. Seems to me she has forgotten what it was like to be a teacher. I would hate to be working there with her. Just because she went on up the totem pole doesn’t give her the right to talk like that.

.

Sounds like the whole town of Jenkins needs to straighten up and get a life or something. Last week’s Speak Your Piece was nothing but Jenkins this and Jenkins that.

.

To a certain person: It’s a shame how you treated your brother when your mother died. A family is supposed to stick together. You were very cruel to your brother and unfortunately for you karma is a bitch.

.

This is to the person who commented in Speak Your Piece last week about a certain Walmart employee talking about people: This isn’t the first time this certain lady has done that. She does this to everybody. She makes fun of them and criticizes them.

.

Stevie Litts would be a fair and honest mayor for Jenkins. He only wants what is best for our city to prosper, including trying to get our hospital reopened. Jenkins has the largest population in our county and we need someone in office who cares about its citizens.

.

This message is for those people who say they are Christians. What would Jesus do if He were president? Would He continue to feed the poor and heal the sick? Or would He only favor the two percent? What would Jesus say if He were still around? Would He tell us all to help one another or would He say shut the government down? What would Jesus tell us about those struggling to be free? Would He say turn them away or what you do to them you have done unto Me?

.

Well, well, well. I have known David Narramore for several years, and when I saw him the other day, for the first time since I have known him, he spoke to me and shook my hand. I wondered who he is trying to fool, or what he is trying to prove.

.

I encourage everyone to petition the governor that he may appoint a full-time family court judge in Letcher Court. There are a lot of people who are waiting to have custody hearings and child custody visitations and they just keep putting them off month after month. If we had a full-time family court judge in this county, that might eliminate a lot of our problems. We only have a part-time commissioner now.

.

If you like to gossip or be nosey or be a crybaby, move to Robinson Branch. You can’t pull a little joke without that family being crybabies. If you are going to dish it, learn how to take it, you nosey people.

.

The City of Jenkins must have a full-time mayor. Candidate Joe DePriest has a full time job and would be a part-time mayor. The job of mayor should also be a full-time job. He’s not the right choice.

.

I am investigating the purchase of a John Deere riding mower by a certain person in Letcher County from a certain person in Florida. This machine was bought with a credit card. Therefore, you may be the recipient of stolen property. A report is on the way. Please respond as soon as possible.

.

Warning. Danger approaching. Warning. Danger approaching. The best thing you two can do is stick with your pain pills and booze. Keep that grass cut and shut the hell up.

.

This goes to a little old woman who lives in Whitco: You need to blame a certain woman. Start looking at other people. They are the ones who are calling in on you and saying stuff about you. You need to mind your own business and quit blaming a certain lady. She is the one taking care of your son. She isn’t saying stuff about you. She has been nothing but good to you.

.

This message is to Mr. Colin Fultz, who is interested in establishing a moonshine distillery in Letcher County: If Whitesburg doesn’t want you, we will take you in Jenkins. The Jenkins mayor and city council have previously discussed the feasibility of such an enterprise. We have the venue available in the old Consolidation Coal Company division shops buildings in downtown Jenkins that beg for a new owner who will establish a new business and create jobs.

.

I live in the City of Jenkins and my family pays a lot of city tax in every way. Is it just me, or does anyone else think the same after watching the last City Council meeting? I think the Mayor and the others in charge at City Hall are starting to feel the heat from two of he council members. Believe this; that is the only two council members that we will be voting for on the current council. We elect them to represent us, not to agree with anything this current mayor and his office staff say or do. We work for our money, and we think it is time those in the city offices work for the time they turn in. I invite anyone to come and sit at Hardee’s and watch what time they go in five days a week. I know you cannot take all the time off for a once-a-month City Hall meeting.

.

One question, only one question, to David Narramore: If you are elected, will the owner of a certain store that sells alcohol and pays no employment tax be employed at the City of Whitesburg? Voters, ask David Narramore.

Dads without a dad. In this country someone is always looking for something. Most of the time the quest is to help fill out a collection or grab a piece of a favorite dad growing up. In this instance it is much more personal. Losing a parent at a young age is an experience that shapes your whole life. It has shaped mine. I wonder who I would have been if I’d grown up with him. I think a small part of all daughters and sons who grow up without their daddy, even if they go on to have happy lives of their own, will always wonder this. The void never goes away. Thank you.

.

Ben Gish caught a fish/ Jim Jones ate the bones/Joe Moore cried for more/Dr. Wright said it was nothing but right.

(From how far back in the history of Seco does that poem date?)

.

Let’s be honest about just a few things going on in Jenkins City Hall. First, we need a new mayor. The things that have leaked out, like what was in last week’s ‘Speak Your Piece,’ are all true because one of the candidates for mayor has forced the city to oblige him with information. We don’t need to be paying overtime to people don’t do their jobs to begin with. We don’t need to be paying the former mayor a consulting fee. We don’t need the former city manager still on the payroll. We didn’t need him in the first place. That smacks of a plot to get the current mayor back in office since Todd DePriest said he was fired, yet was still on the payroll three weeks later. We don’t need two people working the pizza stand by the swimming pool. These things waste our money.

.

It was really crooked for David Narramore to order a city employee and Mountain Heritage Festival volunteer to take Jason Griffith’s campaign signs down the morning of the Mountain Heritage parade. Is he afraid of something?

.

What hypocrites are the Whitesburg city officials? Voting the town wet then stopping a distillery that would not only create jobs but also taxes for the city? Oh, I forgot, it’s election time and some of these people find it oh so convenient to be sanctimonious. It’s all about getting re-elected. Go to Jenkins, where there are lots of empty buildings and the mayor and city council don’t think enough to worry about votes.

.

We are all Americans. Regarding the beheading of people, instability in Mid- East, respect for the Office of the Presidency, no matter who occupies the office and our self serving Congress. The beheading of innocents was outrageous. They were inviting us to fight, assuming that the do- nothing Congress would vote ‘no,’ but our elected Congress took a break to keep their polling numbers up. This break may last until January 5. Everyone assumed that the President and military had no plan regarding the recent issues in the Mid- East. What was expected of him, that he should divulge this information to the world? After the first day of action, ordered by the President, members of Congress took their leave. They abandoned their responsibility to the people of this nation. Everyone applauded the military action via the news media — for one day. Then, via the news media, they all critiqued the plan like all armchair quarterbacks do while watching a football game. He took action, our Congress did not, because its members were AWOL. Congress has not performed for six years, instead acting like spoiled children when they don’t get their way. Learn to compromise in the best interest of the people. We elected them and the President for this reason. We would be dismissed from our jobs for this type of behavior. And as much as I hate to say it, don’t disagree with the President only because he has an African heritage. Some of us have the same but don’t realize it. Study issues and think clearly before you act — as the President does on our behalf.
