On November 18 at around 4:30 p.m., I ran into an off-duty Jenkins police officer in a Jenkins police cruiser in Whitesburg. I am so thrilled to see my tax dollars being put to such good use. I really wish the Jenkins City Council would do something about cruisers being used for personal use. It looks very unprofessional on our city.

.

I think it is an outrage that the Whitesburg Police Chief Tyrone Fields is allowed to keep his job after he has been arrested for DUI. It seems that other public officials lose their job when they get arrested for DUI. I think the people in Whitesburg should stand up and ask for his resignation immediately. This is ridiculous. When is it going to stop?

(Police officers are human, just like you and I, and some wind up being charged with driving under the influence after getting out and blowing off a little steam. As the website DrivingLaws.org points out, police officers ‘found guilty’ of a DUI offense while off duty almost always keep their jobs after some type of disciplinary action and as long as it was their first offense and they were not involved in an injury-related accident. As you now know, Whitesburg Mayor James Wiley Craft has said that Chief Fields is presumed innocent until guilt is determined, and that if Fields is guilty he will be disciplined inside City Hall.)

All you people out there who are with a certain communication company, look to see how much in taxes have been tacked onto the phone bill. In the last two months, a lot of taxes have been tacked on. These are taxes that have been secretly tacked on by our state government and our school taxes.

.

Is Tyrone gone or are the Whitesburg police and Hazard police going to take care of him? Or will he just be another man on the street? I hope so.

(If the Hazard City Police Department was going to ‘take care’ of Whitesburg Police Chief Tyrone Fields, do you really believe they would have arrested him and subjected him to the ‘name and shame’ media treatment he has since received?)

.

To Whitesburg Police Chief Tyrone Fields: Did you ever get your taco? Strange that Mayor James Wiley Craft says you are innocent until proven guilty when the truth is one is guilty until proven innocent. I guess Mayor Craft hasn’t read the statistics concerning our criminal justice system in the United Stares in a long many years.

.

To a certain political party out there: How does karma taste? Republicans are taking over.

.

To a certain internet blogger that runs a Kentucky sports-based website: Way to go.

.

That big police officer of Whitesburg got what was coming to him. What goes around comes around. That’s what I think. I don’t think Mr. Mayor is going to get him out of this.

.

I went to the sheriff ’s office to pay my taxes the other day and an officer was chewing tobacco in the front office. He had a big wad of tobacco in his mouth. I have also seen officers carry spit bottles with them. That is so gross.

.

What’s the big deal? A man got drunk. Just look at it this way, he wasn’t on the job and he wasn’t in Letcher County. Just because you are a police officer doesn’t mean you’ve got to quit living.

.

Before election time came you could hear that the homeless shelter was going to be built. After the election you don’t hear a tale about the homeless shelter going to be built. What is the problem? People in Letcher County need a place to sleep and a place to eat. Whoever started the homeless shelter should finish it or put a shoe in the mouth, either one.

.

I think there has been some confusion about the Tree of Hope of Letcher County. It was started a few years ago, but this year it has been a very hard but enjoyable task for two young ladies, Ashley Elkins and Kiana Webb. I think so far they have had more than 600 names of children. There have been some organizations with almost the same name and every one of these organizations are needed and more, but people are confused because they gave to one and believed it was to the other. I myself have seen how hard these two girls work on the Tree of Hope program and still work eight hours a day at their other job. They love what they are doing and every penny is spent on these kids and is recorded for anybody to see. I am so proud of these two girls and wish there was more I could do to help. There will be a clothing giveaway that they have collected themselves. It will be at the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg on December 6. It will be inside the church downstairs.

.

This is the old cat killer again. If any of you cat lovers out there want a bunch of these cats set out at your house, leave your name and address and I’ll bring plenty of them by. You won’t be as big of a cat lover as you think that you are. This is the old cat killer signing off with a big meow to you.

.

Tyrone Fields is a person the same as everybody else is. He needs to be treated like everybody else. What is so special about him? I think Hazard did their job. Tyrone should be held accountable, same as everybody else.

.

I’d like to say my piece about the distillery they are putting in Whitesburg. They have enough bars down there already, and now our chief of police got caught in Perry County for drinking.

.

I’m calling in response to the comment about the man who had the 17-year affair. You said if I would comment back you would put the initials of the woman he had the affairs with in the paper. Put my initials in there, too, so that I will know for sure.

.

To the man looking for the woman sitting at the Letcher County versus Harlan football game. I appreciate the comments, and am certainly intrigued.

.

Get behind me, devil. In the name of Jesus.

.

I’m responding to the lady whose husband had an affair for more than 17 years. He fathered a child in 1997. I’ll give you a hint: This lady’s last name starts with an H.

.

To a certain preacher: You may ought to stay home more often. Your wife is having a ball with other men. Apparently, she loves hands laid on her, because there is about four or five men a month who come and lay hands on her.

.

I said I wasn’t going to give you another hint, but I believe I will. For the lady whose husband has had an affair for 17 years: To see if this is truly you that I am speaking to, did you graduate from Letcher High School? You had a brother. This other girl had a brother, too. You guys knew each other. I even went to school with you all. It’s a sad situation. If you ever need anyone to hook up with, holler at me. They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. You are definitely a treasure.

.

We all make mistakes. Those with great character learn from their mistakes and become better people.

.

I went to the Letcher Central football game against Pulaski on Friday night. Letcher Central did not play that well and they got beaten bad. But the highlight of the game was Letcher County’s most beautiful blonde who was at the game. If it wasn’t for the beautiful sight of her, the game would not have been much. She made sitting in the cold worth it. This is the same beautiful woman who was in row H against Harlan.

.

People say don’t worry, it’s so much easier to say something than to actually do it. We cant help it some of us are just plain old worry warts. Sometimes we worry our little heads off when in the end it don’t always turn out as bad as we thought. Still that don’t help when something else comes up again here we go worrying our heads off again. So here is a little something for Speak Your Piece: Why oh why I just don’t know oh gee/ Worry why do I let you get the best of me/ Don’t you see you’re driving me crazy/ When I worry they say don’t sweat it/ It will bring you down if you let it/ See I wish I could just forget it/ I would do it in a hurry/ It just doesn’t help when they say don’t worry/ You know that’s what’s going to bury/ Me in this six feet deep dark hole/ It’s taking a toll/ This worry I want to let go/ It’s going to put me underground/ Listen to the beat of my heart, listen to the sound/ Oh how it pounds/ I have a load of worry wish I could dump/ My heart do you hear how it thumps/ Like it wants to jump/ Right out of my chest/ Wish I could give it a rest/ Worry free that would be the best/ If I could relax have some fun/ It’s so much easier said than done/ Wish I could break free and run/ I’ve tried but I can’t stop worrying big or small/ I worry about it all/ Sooner or later I’m going to take a fall.
