I wish the state police or county sheriff ’s department would start patrolling the right fork of Doty Creek of the night. It’s a steady stream of traffic in and out all night. Everyone that lives here knows what’s going on, and it needs to be stopped.

.

I like dogs and cats as well as anybody, but when it comes to choosing between them and people I choose people — hands down. This action by the fiscal court to cut senior centers while committing $300,000 to an animal shelter is the stupidest, most irresponsible thing the court has ever done.

.

When I voted for our new magistrate, I thought we were going to get somebody better than the last one. However, it looks like — after his vote to spend $ 300,000 on the animal shelter when we have so much fiscal trouble and so many other things we need the money for — that we’re just getting another yesman. We need to get some people on that court who will look at these proposals independently and bring some sensible new ideas and some responsible judgment.

I’m responding to the comment about Hemphill Community Center talking to the person who said something about the husband caught flirting: I think you’ve got it wrong sister. I was there and that’s not what happened. The wife was tired of the woman flirting with him, yes, but she jumped on her because of the lies and rumors she’d been telling. There needs to be something done about the vulgar dancing happening. They say it’s a family atmosphere but yet they allow that to go on. The woman running the show needs to show respect to the people that come to bluegrass Friday nights, not just a select few. She wouldn’t have it if it weren’t for some people who shall remain nameless. You know who you are. Also the reason the cops were called was because a couple was suspected of carrying drugs and/ or concealed weapons. Thank you.

(Inquiring minds might ask how one dances ‘vulgar’ to bluegrass music.)

While it is technically not illegal to run an extension cord across a main road to get electricity to a storage building, leaving it there for months is just plain rude to your neighbors. If you need power across the road for an extended period of time, pay to have power hooked up there like the rest of us. Or you could run the extension cord across the main road while you absolutely had to have it, then, when you were finished unplug it and take it back across the road. The next time you needed it, carry it with you when you walk across the road. Don’t leave it lying in the road for months and months. Everyone in the neighborhood is tired of running over your extension cord, and it is causing more people than usual to wonder what is going on there.

To my friends on Facebook: I am very happy that you and your oh-so-amazing partners met each other, copulated, and gave birth to those beautiful and perfect little children. I wish the best of everything for you and your amazing offspring, but I don’t need to know every single detail about their life from the moment they wake up until you put them to bed. After all, kids have been kids since the beginning of time. Enjoy yours while loving them with every fiber in your body, but please stop making the rest of us feel obligated to ooh and awe over each of the 20 postings per day you put on Facebook about them. Again, we love you and we love your children. We wish the best for the lot of you, but please give us a break. Your young ones are very special, but they are no more special than all the other children out there.

.

How soon people forget the people who got them a job, like a certain person at Letcher County Central. The school didn’t want to hire her, but the kids got a petition going and got her the job anyway. What does she do? She turns her back on the ones who helped her get the job.

.

How can the City of Jenkins afford the gas to let a worker who lives in Virginia drive a city vehicle from Jenkins to Virginia every day? Looks like he would drive his own vehicle like the other Jenkins workers do.

.

When people shoot at people’s houses like two certain brothers did, they should go to jail.

.

With so many people moving out of Letcher County we’re going to vote our money to go to Perry County and other places for an animal shelter? I was just watching the Letcher County Fiscal Court meeting on television and I just don’t get it. People are moving every day to Lexington and other places, even to surrounding counties, yet we keep voting our money to send jobs everywhere else. If we keep sending our money other places we won’t ever get anything in Letcher County.

.

Apparently, former Letcher County Deputy Sheriff Brian Damron hasn’t been aware that ‘Justified’ is a fictional television show. In real life, it’s pretty tough to get a way with running roughshod over the public, cursing them and ignoring their civil rights. Flying up and down the road in your cruiser and pulling people over while wearing just your short pants and t-shirt might make good television, but it looks ridiculous in the real world. Something tells me that before it’s all done, Mr. Damron is going to have some ’splainin’ to do, and lots of it.

.

I don’t like it when a parent talks mean to a child about its pets, family, etc. I think it a shame that a child has to listen to an adult talk to it like that. One day God is going to punish you for talking to a child like that. He is going to punish you in more ways than one.

.

I am so glad that the chief at the Gordon Fire Department lost the election. It was his fault because of the ways he treated people in the community. Congratulations to the new chief. Our community may be able to get some service now.

.

The Brian Damron case just makes you sit, think and wonder how many more people like him we have in these offices here in Letcher County that haven’t been caught yet.

.

I read in The Mountain Eagle where Brian Damron is in trouble for selling firearms that didn’t belong to him. If they would investigate that guy a little bit better they would find out more about that guy.

.

Hey, Mr. Damron, you are in trouble now. You aren’t the only one who has been involved in illegal things, but you might as well fess up to all you have done.

.

In the case against Brian Damron, the grand jury has the duty to indict Damron if there appears to be enough evidence against him that a regular jury could find him guilty. The grand jurors have an opportunity to right a great wrong, especially to the people in Letcher County. Danny Webb has done an excellent job in conducting an internal investigation. I applaud him for doing that. I ask him as a taxpayer and citizen of Letcher County to go further with these investigations. Call in the FBI. There’s a lot of corruption in Letcher County that needs to be investigated.

.

It looks like Brian Damron is finally getting what he deserves. But you know that every piece of evidence doesn’t fit in the evidence room in the sheriff ’s office. What about all the stuff that didn’t make it to the evidence room? Those guns may not be all he has stolen. I think he should be punished, and I don’t think he should be hired back by the sheriff ’s department. Also, I think Tyrone Fields should be fired or turned in to the Department of Motor Vehicle Transportation where you get your license in Frankfort. Let them deal with him about the DUI he got in Perry County.

.

I read in the newspaper about Sam Wright supposedly maybe leaving his job to take a higher court job. The only candidate that I feel that will be worthy enough to step up into his office and take his position that would be good for this county is no one other than Will Collins. Will Collins has been the Letcher Commonwealth’s Attorney. He has been an attorney in this area for years and years. He is a very competent person. He is a very just and equal minded person. I encourage people in Letcher County to encourage this man to step up if our judge decides to leave his office.

.

To Sheriff Danny Webb: I am proud of you for standing up for what is right. Danny, you are a good person. Hang in there.

.

Hey, all you coal miners out there who voted for Mitch McConnell. You need to watch the news now. He is hollering that everybody needs to move beyond coal. He got that $42 million payoff from the companies. I voted for Alison Grimes. I can sleep at night knowing that I didn’t put that rotten thing back in office. He was against coal before he went in and all you miners believed him out there. You need to watch the news and see what he is saying now. Technology is changing and we need to move beyond coal and keep up with the new technology. That is a shame for that dirty, rotten thing to do to these miners like that after they poured their hearts out voting for that crook.

.

To the Christian man: I see you are back doing your ‘little sins’ as you call them. God knows all about them.

.

Brian Damron no longer has the badge to hide behind. Many of the people he has stopped and treated rudely over the years told him that when his badge was gone they would take care of him.

.

Brian Damron was very instrumental in getting my brother five years in jail over stealing two guns. I just wonder if he will get any time for what he has done.

.

This is the old cat killer. I’m sitting here watching a bunch of politicians on TV arguing and I couldn’t help but think of Acts 19:32. This is what it says, ‘The assembly was in confusion: Some were shouting one thing, some another. Most of the people did not even know why they were there.’ That’s the way our politicians are. This is the old cat killer signing of with a great big meow to you.

.

There are no secrets in Jenkins anymore.

.

In my opinion, Samuel T. Wright III is not fit to be a justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court but I shall vote for him simply to get him out of Letcher County. The Wrights have ruled the Letcher County Courthouse far too long. They carried me away on your snowy wing to my immortal home. Remember that?

.

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. (1 Corinthians 3:13) If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss. (1 Corinthians 3:15)

. I want to help some people who are saying something that isn’t exactly correct. When people say ‘I could care less’ that means they could care less. The correct saying is ‘I could not care less.’ I hope this helps some people. God bless.

.

The next time this happens I am going to turn it over to the Attorney General. Since when did the one police department start coming and picking up offi cers from another department after they had been drinking all night? I saw this with my own eyes. I can tell you exactly what went on and where they came and picked up a certain officer. That’s not right. That’s our tax dollars.

.

To a certain person: I can’t tell you how much you mean to me. You are still my angel. I love you.

.

I’m calling in about the Letcher Fiscal Court and the $300,000 that has been approved to build an animal shelter in Letcher County. I am a very strong advocate. This money needs to be released to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. The animal shelter is critical to our community. Kentucky law states that each county must either have a shelter or contracted a shelter. Letcher County has had a shelter, although it is located in Perry County, since 1989. The majority of the animals that come to the shelter in Perry County are from Letcher County. I strongly feel that we do not need to reinvent the wheel. The regional shelter has been good for Letcher County as well as the other counties — Knott, Breathitt and Perry. Each county contracts with regional shelter. There are some people who are against releasing the money, although it was obtained in 2008. I understand there was a land dispute, but that was resolved over a year ago. I have yet to see Letcher County do anything with the money. Even if the land was in dispute, why haven’t they gone ahead and started on forming a board and getting volunteers? Letcher County has done absolutely nothing, which is typical. The regional animal shelter has worked hard for all of the counties. I won’t say they have not had difficult times. They have.

.

This is concerning a certain cop in Whitesburg: You put a badge on him and he thinks he is so bad. I guess most of them do.
