TVS Cable, we the people of Letcher County are somewhat now dependent on checks received on the 3rd of the month. As to your $5 late fee due, if it is not paid by the 5th, you may loose a lot of your customers. Even if we could pay, it seems we cannot, especially when the check comes on Friday, the mail stupidly sends it to Knoxville, Tennessee before sending it back to you, taking a few days. You have plenty of money from overcharged TV bills and under-speed Internet service. We do not. If your date of pay cannot be changed then about 30 percent will be going soon and more later. Do you wish to reply or send an answer to this problem? Give us some time, or give us our cutoff and you lose your $5 fee anyway, plus about $600 to $1000 per year as to one customer. You can multiply the customer drop per price yourself.

.

There are now four suspects on the list. Watch and see what has happened.

.

As long as God loves Satan more than he does you and me, we do not have a chance. Satan is millions, even maybe even billions and trillions of years old. You and me got anywhere from zero to 70 or 80 years to get our ducks in a row or we are goners. Now, who does He love the most? It doesn’t take a fool to figure this out.

.

Looks like Brian Damron has gotten himself into a heap of trouble by taking the sheriff ’s department’s guns and selling them. People are now saying he has been protecting various drug dealers in Letcher County. I hope the sheriff ’s department will wake up and will start doing something about these drug dealers that people say had nothing to fear with Damron. Well, Mr. Brian Damron, you won’t get away with everything forever. If you are guilty you will go to prison.

.

I wish everybody would get behind me and let’s get Sam Wright elected out of this office, because he is so unfair with the people in Letcher County. It is all about politics. Maybe if he was in Frankfort we wouldn’t have to worry about him.

.

I really feel for Sheriff Danny Webb and the level of betrayal he must feel when it comes to what Brian Damron has done to him. Hang in there, Sheriff Webb. The good people of this county are behind you.

.

I’m so glad that they finally caught Brian Damron up in the act that he was doing wrong. Maybe some investigator will revisit the man he shot and killed in Jenkins and was cleared by a young cop.

.

I guess everybody has forgotten about poor Tyrone Fields falling asleep in the Taco Bell drive-thru. I guess he needs to be reported to where you get your license reinstated. Don’t leave it up to Whitesburg City Hall. They probably haven’t turned in.

(Chief Fields was arrested in Perry County. Whitesburg City Hall has nothing to do with the outcome of his DUI case.)

.

To the old boy commenting on the events at the Hemphill Community Center: It’s about time someone told your ignorant self off. If you can’t control yourself around a crowd, just stay at the house. You aren’t Elvis. There haven’t been any drugs or firearms at the Hemphill Community Center. It was your wife who called the police to come there. On my part, you aren’t missed at all. The only one I feel sorry for is your wife having to put up with you all these years.

.

This is to whoever commented in the January 7 edition of Speak Your Piece about hearing a million different things: You need to be more specific as to what you are talking about so that the right person will know who you are so that they can call you.

.

This is to the nut calling in about the vulgar dancing at the community center: Are you stupid or what? I was there the night your wife caught you. Why did you slap me in the face five or six times when you were dancing? You don’t have anyone fooled there. Don’t blame a group of good people for your stupidity. If you don’t like the guys that play music there, don’t go. They are good guys. Every band that plays there does a good, clean show. All of the ladies there act like ladies. You are the only person there who is unhappy. Please don’t come back. Stay home so everyone else can have a good and decent time.

.

I was just listening to the Letcher County Central versus Knott County Central boys’ basketball game and one of the announcers on 103.9 the Bulldog was talking about Camron Justice. He said he whines all of the time and said he doesn’t like that punk. Come on, man. You are a grown man and he is just a kid.

.

I want to say happy fourth birthday to my special niece, Olivia Grace Meyer. I hope you have a great day and we love you very from. From Aunt Melissa and Uncle Charlie.

.

I want to wish a happy belated birthday to our niece Brittany Nicole Breeding. We love you. Have a good day.

.

If Brian Damron doesn’t serve any time or get convicted of a felony, the FBI will be checking out this county.

.

Well, friend, I know your store is closed. Have you paid back the money that you owe somebody? You better.

.

If I have a problem in the City of Jenkins. Do I now go to City Hall or do I go to Goodwater Street where the real mayor lives?

.

I hope the Republican Party continues their attacks on Social Security and the Affordable Health Care ( Obamacare). They are so stupid they can’t see that they are driving nails in their own coffin. Each year millions more sign up for Affordable Health Care. I will translate that for the Republicans who are reading this essay. That means millions more votes they won’t get. Duhhhhh. At the same time the projected cost of Affordable Health Care is now less than original estimates. I guess that shoots the Republican arguments all to hell. At the same time, the economy is booming and the big businesses that the Republican are supposed to represent are enjoying record sales and profits under the Democratic administration. Just wait until the 2016 presidential election and see the Republican Party humiliated. Their total lack of compassion for the poor and working class people will be their downfall. How did the rich segment of our society get rich? Answer: from the labor of the working class people. The United States is 50 years behind more progressive countries when it comes to providing health care for its citizens. If the Republicans were smart (and they ain’t) they would support progressive initiatives such as Affordable Health Care and try to make it better. I welcome your rebuttal.

.

As the first month of Mayor Todd Depriest’s administration comes to an end, I would like to give him a grade of ‘B plus.’ His popularity is pretty good, too. He made some very big decisions very early in his administration by dismissing those people who were contributing nothing and draining the coffers of the Jenkins city treasury. He combined three jobs and made one full-time job; good move. At the same time the moral of the city workers has improved tremendously. A workforce performs better when they see that everyone is doing their fair share. Workers develop a bad attitude when they see a select group getting a paycheck for doing little or nothing. You have done a good job of addressing those big issues, but keep in mind that there are 1,300 little issues that must be addressed in the coming months. Wouldn’t it be advisable to have the city treasurer deduct $100 out of each paycheck until the driveway paving issue is laid to rest? That would be better than having the Attorney General get involved.

.

I’d like to speak my piece about Will Collins. In my opinion, he is one of the best people we have ever had in our legal system in Letcher County. I sure would like to see him appointed to Letcher circuit judge in Sam Wright’s place if Wright is elected Kentucky Supreme Court justice.

.

I don’t think anyone would laugh you out of court as long as you have a good city mayor.

.

Up at the Hemphill Community Center on Friday nights we put the bump and grind in bluegrass.

.

I believe that if I was Brian Damron I would feel safer in prison than I did in the state of Kentucky.

.

Hey, Mitch McConnell. Why didn’t you tell these poor little gullible miners and their families when you were running and asking for their help that they should be looking for something other than coal for heating instead of what you are doing now? Why is your mouth closed on helping the coal miners? Why have they been real quiet all of a sudden? They know that they have been had. You are nothing but a snake in the grass.

.

Let me get this straight. You want us to stay out of your bathroom, but you are more than happy to come down to our bathroom and talk and talk and talk and just stink the place up. If we’re not allowed in your bathroom, you are not allowed in ours. Do you understand that? You know who you are.

.

I’m the big Christian man with the little sins, but at least I can lie down and go to sleep at night, which is more than you can do with the things that you have done.

.

It is better for all guilty to be freed than it is for one innocent person to be in prison just to satisfy politics?

.

You don’t have to call me, but you can’t tell me who I can and can’t talk to.

.

I would like to wish our granddaughter Olivia Grace Meyer, a happy fourth birthday. We love you very much. Love, Mamaw and Papaw Blair.

.

We would like to wish my cousin Olivia Grace Meyer a happy fourth birthday. Love, James, Autumn and Abigail Wilder. We love you very much.

.

I would like to wish my daughter a happy fourth birthday to Olivia Grace Meyer. You are my special little angel. I love you very much. Love, your mommy, Michelle Meyer. Happy birthday, sweetie.

.

If they are going to do the investigation right, they need to address the pills they got out of Brian Damron’s drawer and money he brought back to replace the money that was taken.

.

Is it true that nine ounces of pot that Brian Damron took back in the summer never made it to the evidence locker?

.

Are you still going to church? You sound like you are drinking again. I know you like to pick on me when you are drinking.

.

This is to my coworkers who think I’m nothing but a big suck up: You all know that I am speaking the truth. She is the only one who has ever had our back and I stand up for her when there is a problem. You all can bite me and you know who you are.

.

This goes out to Brian Damron: When you would pull people over you would talk to them like dogs and treat them like dogs. If the accusations against you are true, you have done worse than a lot of people that you arrested. I hope you get what you deserve. If anybody else would have stolen the guns, they would be in jail right now. I hope you have to go to jail with the ones that you took to jail and treated like dogs. I know of two people that didn’t deserve to go to jail anyway and you made fun of them. You’ll get what is coming to you. You will see how it feels to be treated the way you treated other people.

.

It’s a shame that you can’t trust Christians anymore.

.

I wonder if we’ll see any reporting on the sheriff ’s department fiasco involving the policeabuse.com report that’s being shown on Facebook and YouTube?

.

Most of the magistrates on the Letcher Fiscal Court have no sense of priority. If they have $300,000 in any kind of an account, they’d better shepherd it carefully because things are growing really tight in the county and in the state as well. There are plenty of better options than an animal shelter and before they consider giving anything to the Perry County facility, they had better check it out thoroughly because it has a rocky history.

.

Political/government actions in Letcher County are reaching a new low. Things are corrupt all over, but not at this level, even in the adjacent counties. If the citizens don’t start paying attention, the county is going to go under. It is high time that the policing and governing bodies get their houses in order, and it wouldn’t hurt to have some vigorous criminal prosecution.

.

Does anyone reading this know Senator Mitch ‘The Abominable ‘No’ Man’ McConnell or any of his enablers? If so could you please tell him that the 27 percent of Kentucky children who live in poverty deserve more of his attention than sucking up to the Koch Brothers? He doesn’t seem to know — or care — about these of his constituents.

.

UK will go undefeated during the regular season because, thank God, they’re in the SEC rather than the ACC. The ACC has five teams in the top ten; the SEC doesn’t have a single other team in the top 25. But, the Cats won’t be able to avoid Arizona in March.

.

Happy Valentine’s Day. I love you

.

I’m calling in regarding the $300,000 that Letcher County has to build an animal shelter. I’m a strong advocate and this money needs to be released to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. The animal shelter is critical to our communities. Kentucky law states that each county must either have a shelter or be contracted with a shelter. Letcher as well as Perry, Knott and Breathitt counties are contracted with the regional animal shelter in Perry County. Letcher County has been sending animals to the regional shelter since 1989 and the majority of those animals come from this county. I strongly feel that this money needs to be released as it was imposed in 2008. There was a land dispute and that was resolved over a year and a half ago, however what has Letcher County done to even start the animal shelter. Let me list some things that need to be done and they could have already started on this. These things include appointing board members, researching insurance, contracting with a veterinarian and researching legitimate rescues. A photographer is needed to take photos on a daily basis and download photos to computer every day for public to review on the Internet for adoption. There also needs to be a chairperson over fundraisers. There must be an army of volunteers to help. There needs to be someone over sponsorships and fostering. There need to be spay and neuter programs. People need to be recruited to transport not only injured animals but to assist with transports to rescues that come out of state. There are also programs such as Spay It Forward, Field to Foster and the list goes on. Has Letcher County done anything to initiate these? My point being is why invent the wheel. The original shelter has dramatically improved in the last few years. In 2011, more than 90 percent, which is approximately 6,984 animals, were euthanized. By 2014, that rate has dropped down to nine percent or 340 animals. The animals that are being euthanized now are extremely aggressive as well as extremely ill. Unfortunately in southeastern Kentucky animals are allowed to run loose and often become wild. The regional shelter has made tremendous progress in the last few years. I think we need to look at the community as a whole. I know some magistrates are concerned about Knott and Breathitt counties not paying money. I’m sure they will work together and do what they can.

.

I would like to let people know that we have a Letcher County chapter for the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter. We started this group last month. Feel free to contact Amy Asher if anyone is interested in joining our group. We are strong advocates for animals in Letcher County. Our goal is to leave no animal behind. We want to be a voice for the voiceless. Another reason I started this group is that I wanted to make it easier for Letcher County residents to have access to the regional shelter. We have several drop-off places now for donations — the Letcher County garage, 103.9 the Bulldog radio station, Addie’s Treasures on Highway 7, Veronica Collins’s grocery store in Blackey and Letcher County Outpost on Garner Mountain. We have several programs we have started and one of our goals in 2015 is regarding animal abuse and spay and neutering. If anyone would like to join our group, feel free to Facebook me. On Facebook, we also have a Letcher chapter group page, which is public and we will be posting when our meetings are. We appreciate anyone’s assistance.

.

To Mr. Speak Your Piece and Mr. County Judge, whom I spoke to about these trashers at Jenkins, and my sister, too: As I walk I see what God has made. Also, I saw and see what the sorry trash people have done. Trash everywhere, on land and in our creeks. Whose job is this? Oh! I know. 1. Neighborhood Youth Corps; 2. County Extension Agents; 3. County Judge; 4. Department of Sanitation; 5. Property Valuation Administration; 6. Our recycling; 7. Environment Protection. Which one of these sorry departments are sitting on their ashes collecting my tax money and not doing their job? But Mick Wright, thank you, God love you. I don’t trash the trash man. Get off your sorry ashes and do your job. A garbage or trash dump at Kings Roads needs dragged out and cleaned. Highway workers? State or county? Do I have to write the governor? I will.

.

I feel that Will Collins has earned every right to fill Sam Wright’s judgeship position because of his abilities as Commonwealth’s Attorney, and because he has overlooked powers and principalities to serve justice.
