I had to respond to those two words I said, ‘Roll Tide,’ and The Eagle responded that the ‘Tide got rolled.’ Excellent response. You did good on that one, that’s for sure. Thank you.

(Thank you for being a good sport.)

.

Everybody knows by now, since he’s been in office for half a month, that Mickey Stines doesn’t have the backbone to arrest these drug dealers …

(Rare was the week you didn’t phone in at least unfounded criticism of former Sheriff Danny Webb and his staff and now you’re already on the case of new Sheriff Mickey Stines with more undeserved criticism. Is there something about the sheriff’s office you just do not like? Or are you upset because the sheriff ’s office won’t get involved in a feud you’ve had going for years with a neighbor/relative?)

.

To the citizens of Jenkins: You can tell when the payroll is hard to meet — they start trying to sell artifacts of the history of the town of Jenkins. It won’t be long before we have to pay more taxes.

.

Is the mayor of Jenkins going to put the employee who used to work at the water plant in charge of the hemp production plant in Jenkins? Thank you.

.

I would like to tell one certain lady in Pine Creek that curtains and doors are very valuable, especially if you’re doing something you’re not supposed to be doing.

.

To my knight: I love you and we miss you as well. Love, your unicorn.

.

Dear Speak Your Piece: I am wondering who is paying all of these Republican Trump-worshipping liars who are calling in to give their so-called opinions. They are totally full of it and they know it. And they are nothing but trash.

.

To the right-winger complaining about the ‘new guy on the almighty court’: Trump has no right to get his wall built. What he does have is the right to present his plan to Congress and make the best case he can. As far as you talking about us ‘lefties’ having armed guards to protect us, no sonny boy, I shoot my own snakes. What do you do besides run your mouth about stuff you don’t know anything about?

.

The LCC boys’ basketball team needs help. The substituting is horrible and the coach is more worried about being friends with the boys than anything else.

( Going into Tuesday night’s game against Knott Central, the Letcher County Central Cougars had an overall won-loss record of 10-7. They are 5-3 in 14th Region play and 3-1 in 53rd District play. Does that really equate to needing help?)

After watching some reruns of the war on poverty newsreels I have come to the conclusion that the corrupted living conditions of the people of eastern Kentucky has never been an economic issue. The people have nice things now and are still nasty in their homes and nasty in their yards. From watching the old newsreels, the only thing that’s really changed from then until now is that the junked cars in the yards are just a few years newer than what they had been. The problem in this area is simple: The people are eaten up with the sorry rump. And until we purge these people from our society thing are just going to keep on as they have been. These people just don’t want anything better.

.

The people in this world get worse and worse every day. I know we have always said that, but it’s never been like it is today and it’s going to get a whole lot worse. The only safe place to be is in the grave. I say come Lord Jesus, come.

.

I want to put this in the ‘just wondering’ category. These pollsters say Trump is losing ground on support for the border wall. I just wonder if those are the same pollsters who told us that Hillary Clinton was going to win. If it is, then I have no confidence in that. Thank you.

.

There’s a blue truck that goes around selling Lyrica and meth in the ice form in the Colson, Beaver Dam and Indian Creek area. I hope the cops can do something about this.

.

Only 25 percent of the government is affected by a shutdown. The news says there are 800,000 people out of work. According to that, then the government employs 3.2 million people. What kind of government needs that many workers?

(Here are some facts for you: According to the nonpartisan magazine Governing, there are (excluding Postal Service workers) 2,087,747 people employed by the U.S. government, with 79 percent of them working outside the Washington, D.C., region. The majority of those employees work for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (381,457), the Army (247,884), the Navy (206,071), the Department of Homeland Security (198,399), and the Air Force (167,599). The Department of Education employs the fewest number of federal workers, 4,059, just behind the 7,827 who work for Department of Housing and Urban Development. Also, all the agencies affected by the government shutdown employ a little more than 800,000 people, about 380,000 who have been ordered to stay home without pay. Another 420,000 have been ordered to stay on the job but are not being paid.)

.

We hear about this new constable in District Four who says he’s going to clean up Doty Creek. I hope he does come to Doty Creek and gets the neighborhood bully and puts him in jail.

.

It seems that times have gotten so hard here in Jenkins that the city has decided to sell a gun that was used to guard the payroll back when thugs apparently roamed the streets looking for the money train. That’s right, times once were so bad here that not even 100 machine guns had rolled off the assembly line before the City of Jenkins sent word that it needed one. And now it’s got so bad that we’re going to have to sell it just to get some grant-matching funds. Now I know I’m from Letcher County and we have some pretty eventful things that happen, but I live outside the city limits of Jenkins and I haven’t heard tell of any shoot-outs with notorious thugs. What I don’t understand, though, is what police officer wouldn’t want to whip out a 1921 Tommy Gun on a meth head robbing a local pharmacy? I personally like the officers they have down there and feel like all of them would enjoy packing heat like Al Capone. I mean, you can still get shells for it can’t you? It is police equipment, correct? So we are selling police equipment that is so cool you could load it with antifreeze and fire ice cubes for something that can’t be any more effective than the stuff they already have?

.

I’ll tell you what makes me mad. It’s married women who get you turned on when they want you and then they turn you off when they don’t want you. I am about sick and tired of being turned on and turned off.

(Have you thought about just staying away from married women?)

.

Sheriff Danny Webb’s decision to get rid of those two was the best thing he did the whole time he was in office. And he was a good sheriff, too.

.

Anybody looking for some good K2 Spice potpourri should head to a certain house on Marshall’s Branch. The woman there is so blown away on it she doesn’t know what she’s selling. You can probably get two for one. The law won’t do anything about it since it’s on the Letcher-Pike line. So come on up and check it out.

.

To some good Old Regular Baptist people out there: Can a sinner man pray for somebody else? I see it on Facebook all the time where people holler about needing prayers and a whole list of people answer that they are praying for them. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I do not believe a sinner man’s prayers for someone else will be answered. You have to first pray for selfatonement.

.

I’m calling about the state road department and condition of the roads below Jenkins: Every single employee of that department needs to be fired immediately. I have never seen such a mess in my life. You people throw junk in these holes and the cars are throwing it right back out. Can’t you do a better job than that? Thank you.

(The blame for our extremely poor road conditions does not lie with our local maintenance garage workers. It lies instead with the decision-makers in Frankfort who not provide the resources necessary to fix our broken roads back in the spring, summer and fall when asphalt could be applied.)

.

Jesus said this of the religious people of his day: For wide is the gate and broad the way leading to destruction, and there are many who go there. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

.

To the people who run the LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) through LKLP and the people at the food stamp office: I know of one family that gets free coal even though they don’t burn coal. They are selling it. I know another family with two children that draws eight hundred dollars a month in food stamps. They take their stamps to the store, where they then meet up with people and trade for them and use the money they get to buy drugs while their children are starving to death. It’s time for someone in authority to go and check some of these houses to see if coal is being burned and if food is in the cabinets.

.

Reagan never ordered Gorbachev to tear down the wall. He pleaded with him to tear down the wall. The Berlin Wall was built by communist Russia to keep people inside the Russian part of Berlin, and the wall worked. The wall separated families, friends and neighbors, and it very well served the purpose and cause for which it was built. A little known fact: A gate was left open in the Berlin Wall and people started tearing the wall down. The guards stood by and let it happen. I served in Berlin in 1963 in the U.S. Army.

.

I have lots of good friends, but they steal from me and lie to me. I know who stole my chainsaw and I know who stole the cowboy boots. I also know who stole that Chevy starter. They think I’m stupid, but I know who they are.

.

I think it is a bad thing to let people demand entrance into our country. If they get away with breaking our laws at the beginning, what will the end look like? If you watch the news you have heard the words globalism, new world order, world without borders, and oneworldism. It is not idle talk, just as it wasn’t in Germany about a hundred years ago when they began wanting to take over the world and become the master race. Fortunately that didn’t happen then, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen again. There are many secret groups and mega-rich people who would love to be the king of the world.

.

I think it is a much greater Letcher County without the female law officer working at the sheriff ’s office. We are all glad she is gone.

.

Good morning to my neighbors in Whitco. It’s a dirty rotten shame that we have to go out of Whitco, down that road, and look at all that trash hanging off each side of the road. Tell me how people live in such trash. The state or local officials should order that nasty stuff to be cleaned up. I love you people in Whitco. Bye-bye.

.

A certain man from Knott County will not stand behind what he sells, so beware before you buy something from him based on what you might hear him selling over the radio.

.

I am writing concerning the government shutdown. Many of us American people want the wall in place. We finally have a great president with the backbone to stand against the Democrats. When Obama was president the Republicans always caved in and sold out to give the Democrats their way. Democrats are like Billy goats — anything that is right for our nation they want to butt. They have hard heads, and if you could really see their intentions you would probably see horns coming out of their heads. You cannot reason with them as they have about as much intelligence as a Billy goat’s back end. It would be good for our nation if the Democrats were deported to Mexico and then the wall was built to keep them out. So if you vote for a Democrat you are partaking in the destruction of our nation and you can blame yourself for causing the shutdown.

.

To Speak Your Piece: At Letcher County Jail, they take bets on inmates taking their medication. That is not the way to run a jail. All the food is bad, and the one meal a day that can be eaten is so cold you can’t eat it. The Kentucky Department of Corrections needs to come and fix this jail. It’s nasty. The front’s cold, and they won’t let the inmates take a shower.

.

This is the Harlan County Man. If you vote for the Democrats you are voting for a party that wants to tax you 70 percent so they can give it to illegals that are coming across our southern border by the thousands. Can you Democrats live on 30 percent of what you make in a year’s time? They also want to keep abortion and same-sex marriage legal. NBC, CNN, ABC, and MSNBC all back the Democrats. They also want to take away our guns and they want open borders so anyone that wants to can come in. The Democrats will push this agenda on the American people by giving people free things, but it will come with a high cost that can’t be paid for. Nancy Pelosi will not give our President Trump the money he needs to put up a wall on the border. So be wise about which candidate you vote for. God bless the USA and our wonderful President Trump and Israel. Signed, the Harlan County Man.

(You are welcome to criticize political parties all you want to in this forum, but not to lie about them. It is not true that the Democrat Party wants to tax people 70 percent of their earnings. It is true, however, that one freshman Democratic U.S. Representative from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has said she would like to see the federal income tax rate paid by country’s richest people be returned to the 70 percent minimum it was during the decades of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. According to Ocasio-Cortez, the higher rate would apply to those who earn personal incomes of at least $10 million a year. The Democrat Party has in no way adopted the position of Ocasio-Cortez. By the way, if you know of anyone in Harlan or Letcher counties who is being paid a personal income of $10 million, please introduce us to them.)

.

To my unicorn: I love and miss you and the kids. From the knight.

.

The United States is not going to last much longer if they do not build the wall. People in the USA are becoming too self centered and corrupt to establish necessary, logical, reasoned out laws to protect the nation’s sovereignty. In other words, we are living now in the generation of people who lost our heritage and set the USA into a backward spiral into history. President Trump could have saved the United States if he had of had the support of the majority of the people. I am old. I am glad I lived in the United States while it was still a mighty nation that still, during my lifetime, served God. God bless Trump.

.

What do you get when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? You have a Donald Trump- Nancy Pelosi clash and the public suffers.

Rep. Angie Hatton and District 93 Rep. Chris Harris are co-sponsors of House Bill 16, which pertains to electric, natural gas and water utilities across Kentucky. (1) This bill asks for fair, just, reasonable, affordable rates and service, (2) requires a management and operations audit every five years (3) plus a lot more. Electric distribution cooperatives will be exempt from the audit. I believe this bill will help with our high electric bills. Rep. Angie Hatton, Rep. Robert Goforth of 89th District and Brenda R. Travis of 71st District are co-sponsoring House Bill 75, asking to amend KRS 342.315 to eliminate that physicians contracting with the commissioner to perform evaluations in occupational disease claims to be ‘B’ readers who are licensed in Kentucky and board certified pulmonary specialists. Right now doctors are limited to a few. This bill will make many more doctors available and will help disabled people and coal miners. Please help. These two bills are very important to Kentuckians. Contact Rep. Angie Hatton and Senator Johnny Ray Turner at 1-800-372-7181 to leave a message or leave an email on Kentucky Legislation website for them. Contact Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin at his website to send email or call 502-564-2611, fax 502-564-2517 each of them. Support House Bill 16 and 75.
