I am writing to see how many folks agree with me that there needs to be someplace to buy art supplies in Whitesburg. I live in Pound, but do most of my shopping in Whitesburg. It’s aggravating to have to go to Pikeville or Kingsport for brushes, paint, or canvas. I would love to see a good arts and crafts store open in Letcher or Wise County. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

.

I was at the grocery store in Whitesburg the other day and saw a child molester who had gotten out of jail there with his niece. What is this community coming to? Oh my Lord.

.

The two deputies who were laid off were the only two who offered to do anything and catch any criminals.

.

While politicians and lawyers are in the chicken lot chasing young fryers around their wives are out chasing young roosters that can still crow.

.

We’ve got a new county judge and a new sheriff and I wish they would do something about all this trash on the dirt road at Whitco. If we don’t have to dodge nasty dogs we have to dodge the trash. That is the filthiest sight I have ever seen around a human being’s house. I wish and pray to God that somebody will law that man and make him clean that up. It is pitiful too look at, children. We have never had this kind of mess in Whitco. It wasn’t too bad until they closed our bridge off and we now have to go past that nasty stuff. It is a shame.

.

To the person who wrote that pollsters said Hillary would win: Please give us some real examples. I ask because I think you just made that up.

.

I hope the new Letcher County Fiscal Court will start addressing the growing litter problem we have here and will tell us what steps they plan to put into action to try get these messes cleaned up. When former Judge/Executive Jim Ward was magistrate he cast the deciding vote against a small tax on pop bottles and cans and fast-food packages he promised to go to work immediately on educating our young people and their parents about the damage their litter is causing. Ward never did a single thing he promised about that issue and now he is defeated. The new judge/executive, Terry Adams, won’t last more than four years if he doesn’t do something about the nastiness that is so embarrassing to our county. What is the status with the litter wardens we used to have?

One of the best parts of being national champions is that you get to visit the White House and be treated to a fabulous meal by the President, McDonald J. Trump.

.

I don’t think I’m stupid. Wasn’t our government shut down because Democrats would not discuss border security with our president, Mr. Donald Trump?

.

It’s amazing how a certain woman works all the time while her son stays at home all day and lies on his sorry hind end. If his mother had any sense she would kick him out of the house. All parents should do the same to their sorry children who don’t want to lift a hand to do anything.

.

The Bible, in 1 Corinthians 9:18, says preach the gospel without charge. If you are sending ten percent of your money to a preacher you are shortchanging Jesus. We don’t owe anything to anybody except Jesus. So keep your money in your pocket and take pride in what Jesus has done for you, me and everybody else.

.

To a very good-looking young lady who lives on Cowan and was tied up in a relationship with a guy: The relationship bombed out after a couple of years. I would like to tell you that you were with a boy. If you would like to be in a relationship with a man, I would very much like to go out and have dinner with you. Sometime maybe I will see you out. Thank you.

.

This is the man who said he casts spells, and I do. If your daddy got that hangman’s noose, you bring it back. If your daddy is dead I can pass the spell on to you. You have five weeks left. Return the hangman’s noose to the circuit court clerk’s office.

.

If you don’t think there’s a crisis on our southwestern border you need to get you head out of your-

.

I was looking at the Letcher County offender list and saw a guy from Turkey Creek on there who I went to school with. I would never have believed that. A girl once told me some bad tales on that gentleman and I didn’t much believe them. Well I do now.

.

I have never in my life seen so many people go missing. Everywhere you look you see where someone is missing. Young girls, young boys, someone is missing every day. It looks like everybody is going to have to have a tracking device implanted.

.

I was just reading in the paper about all of this child molestation. Whether you are a preacher or a truck driver, do you not think of the reproach you are bringing on your own family? I don’t know you and I don’t know them, but I am satisfied that ninety-nine percent of all the family members are good people and do not deserve the reproach you have brought upon them.

.

I have heard there are preachers who say it is not necessary to study the Book of Revelation because the Christians are going to be gone, which means raptured to heaven. The Bible says that everyone who is living will go through the tribulation of Satan, who comes at the sixth trumpet. Jesus doesn’t come until the seventh trumpet. Second Thessalonians 2:3-4 says Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition who sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Satan can trick people who don’t know that we will be changed to spirit when Jesus returns.

.

I’m thinking about four men. Two are brothers and I don’t know if the other two are related. They are all working in a field. One of each of the two in each case leaves his job. Is there a connection between the two accounts? The first account is in Luke 15:11-32. The younger son left his father and got into a lot of trouble, but he was smart enough to return and was forgiven. However, the father said to the one who stayed in the field, Luke 15:31, you are always with me and everything I have is yours. The other example is in Matthew 24:40: Then shall be two in the field, one was taken and the other left. Could the one taken have heard that Jesus was in Jerusalem? In Matthew 24:25 it says don’t believe it, for false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive.

Joaquin Castro got elected to the Senate on his brother’s coattails. Julian Castro was the mayor of San Antonio. Joaquin then got Julian appointed a secretary of Housing and Urban Development for a short time. Now Julian wants to run for president. That’s all we need, one of the Castro brothers as president.

.

That old Daniel Boone Hotel up there, they might as well tear that thing down and let Daniel Boone have it. It is of no account and never will be of any account. Nothing will ever become of it. It is junk. Tear it down. Make room for a hotdog stand.

(Similar things were said just a few years ago about the old Kyva Motor Company garage on Madison Street when Whitesburg Mayor James Wiley Craft was working to save it, just like he is the old hotel building today. The Kyva building is now one of Whitesburg’s nicest and most unique in addition to being the home of the Kentucky Mist Moonshine Distillery.)

.

I’m sitting here watching the Letcher Fiscal Court meeting on TV. All those people at the meeting table need to sit still and not swing around in their swivel chairs so that we can tell what is going on.

.

I saw on the fiscal court meeting on TV the other afternoon where a woman got up and said there were more than 300 homeless children in Letcher County. Tell me where they all are. Where did they come from? Are they homeless by choice? I don’t think we have that many homeless children in Letcher County. Yes, we’ve got some filthy homes they live in but they are still homes.

.

If the City of Whitesburg has that kind of money to put into that old hotel they can send it to Trump and let him build his wall with it. Do you all hear me?

(Unfortunately we hear silly ideas just as clearly as we do the ones that are well thought out.)

.

There’s an awfully pretty lady at the pharmacy where I get my medicine. Can’t wait to get there.

.

To Blondie: When are you going to realize that Frankenstein is cheating on you?

.

Impeach Pelosi! Impeach Schumer!

‘In the deep dark hills of eastern Kentucky, that’s the place where I trace my bloodline. And it’s there I read on a hillside gravestone, you will never leave Harlan alive. … No one ever knew there was coal in them mountains till a man from the Northeast arrived. Waving hundred dollar bills he said I’ll pay ya for your minerals, but he never left Harlan alive.’ Just a thought for the mainstream media.

(Thanks for quoting the lyrics to Darrell Scott’s masterpiece of a song and reminding us how much we miss having ‘Justified’ on our television screens. Not sure how those lyrics fit the ‘mainstream media,’ but it’s worth remembering there was a time, in the Sixties and Seventies, when the large daily newspapers and TV networks that make up the mainstream media worked hard to bring much-needed attention to the wrongfulness of the broad-form mineral deeds the song is talking about. If the New York Times, CBS News, the Courier-Journal of Louisville and others like them had ignored our region the broad-form deed would still be legal and people here would still have no say in how their land was mined, nor would they be paid any money for the coal taken from the property. Of course, we are talking about a time long before the mainstream media became dominated by talking heads arguing about politics on cable news networks and fake news being spread over Facebook and other Internet sites.)

.

To the people of Letcher County: If you have been arrested by a court bailiff working as a police officer, check your rights as a citizen. That is not legal, and the Kentucky Revised Statutes are public and show that.

.

I saw a pretty mature blonde lady in Food City this Friday past. She wore blue pants and a grayish coat, and she gave me two pretty smiles. I smiled back and wanted to speak to her, but the aisle was crowded. I was the tall man behind the other two people in the Pop Tart aisle. I couldn’t get close enough to speak to her. If she is interested in talking, she can respond this week or the next and we can meet at the Food City deli.

We have a $4.4 trillion budget in the United States government. The cost of the border wall at $25 billion would be like dipping a teaspoon in the ocean. Besides that, immigrants are costing the government $135 billion a year [according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform].
