If any good thing has come out of this coronavirus it is gas mileage. I used to get 20 miles per gallon. Now I get two weeks per gallon.

.

Boy, there are a whole lot of Democrats talking out both sides of their mouth on television about Joe Biden.

.

If you expect elementary school children to endure the trauma of active shooter drills for you to carry an assault rifle, you can wear a mask to Walmart.

.

With all the things going on in our country with this COVID-19 virus everyone is being told to wear a mask in public places, practice social distancing, and to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds to help reduce the possibility of further spread of this virus. Now with that said I found it very disturbing to find a grocery store where precautions were being taken in all areas but the butcher department where no one was wearing a mask, gloves or distancing themselves from customers. I left the store without making any purchase and have no plans to return. This virus is a serious thing and everyone — especially those handling unpackaged and uncooked foods — should consider the danger of what they are doing. Please, for all concerned, follow the guidelines and let’s get through this together.

Watching television reruns of famous baseball, basketball and football games over the past weekend reminded me that it might be a good time to rewind the calendar to Saturday night, March 7 and see what was going on at the Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. As our nation was facing what will certainly end up being its worst health and economic crisis yet, our president, Donald J. Trump, and the other members of his family and their friends were busy partying down at in celebration of the 51st birthday of the girlfriend of Donald Trump Jr. ‘Let them eat (birthday) cake,’ was the rallying cry for Team Trump on that night while the COVID-19 pandemic was threatening the United States. To see just how concerned Trump and his family members were about the rest of the United States, just follow this link on the Internet (the pictures and video are priceless): www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article 8088531/Kimberly-Guilfoyle-celebrates-50thlavish-Mar-Lago-birthdaybash. html

Senate Democrats have also proposed a COVID-19 ‘heroes fund’ to provide a $25,000 pandemic premium pay increase to essential workers — including health care providers, grocery clerks and delivery drivers — from the start of the public health emergency until December 31, 2020. This is a pay increase of about $13 an hour. It’s about time we do something for these essential workers.

I know of a certain person who raided my mailbox a couple of weeks ago and stole something out of it. They say the government is sending out checks to people who are disabled. So far I have never gotten mine, and I pretty well know that a certain person stole mine and had it cashed.

.

Over 30 million Americans have lost their jobs in only the last six weeks. Are you one of them? Just think how much better things would have been had we started fighting this virus two months earlier.

.

The Bible says to love thy neighbor as thyself. I surely do love my neighbors. During the storm on Easter Sunday, a large tree came down on the side of my house and my neighbors came running with chainsaws and rakes and everything else to help out. I feel like I live in the best neighborhood in the nation. Good neighbors are hard to find, but I’ve surely got some good ones. Thank you.

.

To a certain person: I saw where you told me not to worry about the flowers, because I would never see them. I know who you are and you can take your flowers and you can stick them where the sun doesn’t shine.

.

I’ve noticed something about men. When they get old and can’t do much they run out and buy a big fancy car — a Corvette or a Mustang or something like that. I’ve also noticed that some of these men who are older than dirt end up with younger women. I guess they can always treat their women like they treat their new cars — sit back, look at them and admire what they have. That’s about all that’s going to go on there.

.

I say hail to the chief, Pappy Trump. He sent me that big stimulus check and I used it to pay bills off and to buy some nice stuff that I needed. I know one fellow that got his stimulus check and he used it to buy $2,400 worth of hamburgers at Mc- Donald’s. I don’t think that was too wise. Yes, I’ll vote for Trump again; no doubt about it.

.

I want to know why the food stamp office doesn’t give its clients a hand up instead of a handout. Give them some seed and a d@*& tiller and tell them to plant their @$$ a garden and give them a d@*& donkey. I can’t stand sorry people. I think they should take them to the edge of the earth and push their @$$ off.

.

I just heard they are going to have to turn these cows out because they can’t get them to market. Well why don’t they just give them to the food stamp office to give out to these people on food stamps? Let them walk a cow to their house and slaughter it.

.

Thank you, Mr. President, for doing what you do for America. You are putting everything you have in your power toward helping Americans. Some of us poor people are still waiting on that little $1,200. It might not mean much to you folks, but it means a lot to us. When we do get it, hallelujah. They are running a lot of tests of stuff, but if we got them from bats then why aren’t they checking the bats out more? If this came from the bats and not a lab, then why don’t they go into these caves where the bats and their poop are? God bless America. We sure need His blessings now. I dread the next threat that comes up on America.

.

I just want people to know there’s a worse disease going around than coronavirus. It’s called sorriness. Go get you a check.

.

Come on, everybody. Gather up all of your dogs and cats and take them and get their hair cut and styled. Dogs and cats can get haircuts now before humans can. I have never heard the beat. I guess the governor has some dogs and cats in need of a haircut.

.

Dear Speak Your Piece: Our county court clerk is not on the job doing his job. Vote him out next election.

.

I want them to ease up on Joe Biden. You aren’t supposed to expose Democrats for allegations of sexual harassment; you only expose Republicans. You need to keep that in mind. The mainstream media won’t report it, so you need to follow their lead.

(Are you sure about your charge that the ‘mainstream media’ doesn’t report equally about Democrats and Republicans when it comes to allegations of sexual misconduct? For instance, a simple Internet search shows that since 2017, the nation’s mainstream media reported extensively on claims involving sexual misconduct or harassment involving nine members of the United States Congress, ending with the resignations of five Republicans and four Democrats — with Senator Al Franken of Minnesota being the highest-ranking member to resign.)

.

I am not concerned with fake news nearly as much as I with the fake president we have. He was elected into office with the popular vote.

.

Beware of two people who live on this end of Pike County. Both have tested positive for the coronavirus, but they won’t stay indoors. They go everywhere they want to every day, no masks, no gloves, no nothing.

.

To all these people on radio stations broadcasting about the pandemic and the possibility of a meat shortage and all that: Do you not understand that you are scaring people to death by saying that? You can’t even buy a piece of meat around here now because of people calling ahead just to see when the next truckload of meat is due to arrive. There are little children out here who are going to need something to eat, but they’re not going to be able to get a piece of meat because you are scaring people to death. It’s a serious matter, I understand. But don’t make the matter worse be broadcasting a pandemic meat shortage.

.

To the blonde at the walking track: The Virginia man you are going under the bridge with is not your husband. I do know that, so next time put all your clothes back on before you let him out to get back into his Virginia car. Everything you have I have seen, too. Yes, deer cameras really work.

.

President Trump should quit giving out medical advice and give out the advice he’s good at — lying.

.

It used to make me mad when people came in here and made movies about us that made us look like hicks. Anymore I believe there may be something to this thing. People are dying all around us, and people aren’t taking this seriously whatsoever. They just sit back and laugh about it like they are invisible, like they are bulletproof. This sickness has no certain ones it attacks. It also kills people. I know wouldn’t want to bring it home and kill my wife or my kids. I’m beginning to believe the people here really are ignorant.

.

I try to do everything in life honestly. What happens? I still don’t get my $1,200 from the government.

.

The media won’t tell you that Andrew Cuomo ordered nursing homes to take in COVID-19 patients, and this caused a whole bunch of people to die at the nursing homes. I got this straight from the head official at one of the nursing homes.

(Actually, the national and New York media have been covering the story. No nursing home in New York or any other state was ordered to simply ‘take in COVID-19 patients’ off the street. Rather, nursing homes in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and other hard-hit states were ordered to readmit their own patients who originally contracted COVID-19 in said nursing homes but were hospitalized elsewhere for treatment. The issue is very complicated. While nursing home trade groups insist the ordered readmissions caused a lot of elderly people to die unnecessarily, a number of nursing home patient advocates and patients’ relatives blame the high number of deaths on the homes themselves and the lack of proper guidance at both the state and federal levels.)

.

Here’s something I don’t understand. We’ve been hearing for years that we have the best economy in the history of the universe. So why are so many people in such dire financial straits? Their only hope is that there is a coal miner in the family, since they’re the only ones with great jobs for years paying them lots of money so they can build up big savings accounts. Hopefully they will help you out.

Lately I’ve been considering how similar humans are to other animal species. All are warm-blooded beings with a body, brain, and the ability to produce off- spring. Humans and other animals all have thoughts and emotions and can communicate and cooperate in various ways. I disagree with the idea that human beings are somehow innately superior to other living creatures, regardless of what some belief systems would have us believe. The entire human experience of being alive and conscious comes from our physical body, which includes our brain as the command center. The brain creates our sense of self-awareness, thoughts and emotions, and language ability. It also creates the sensations of hunger, thirst, need for sleep, personality traits, fear, anger and physical attraction. Everything humans and other living creatures do relates in some way to the body’s survival. Start increasing your awareness of the ways your brain and body work together to create your individual sense of who you are. Thanks for considering my opinions.

The root cause of most of the problems in this world today is there are too many people on Planet Earth, breeding uncontrollably. Think about it: Only 120 years ago, the Earth’s population was less than two billion humans. Today the world population is closing in on eight billion people. Projections are that by 2100 there will be around 10 billion folks on Earth, probably more. Just think what that future world will be like — a gigantic sardine can of people to feed, provide jobs and housing for, causing even more destruction of wildlife, forests and oceans. Air and water pollution will be far worse than it is today. Crime will be a huge problem as folks fight to survive. If you think traffic is bad now, just wait until all those additional people are driving cars. Your quiet area will be teeming with tens of thousands of new residents escaping from big-city hellholes. Sorry, but I don’t really see anything on the horizon to limit or reduce the human population except maybe a nuclear war or another even worse pandemic.
