To a certain man concerning all those things you said to my granddaughter when she was in here from Florida: Let me tell you something; I divorced you when our oldest son was four. That’s been a long time ago — more than 50 years. So what I did in my life since then is none of your business. You had no business telling that child what you told her. I think you have made her hate me. Well what about all of your eight wives and their children? You are the most cruel person I have ever known in my life. Hell is waiting on you for the way you have treated all of us women and our children. Who do you think you are with your little married girlfriend? You think people don’t talk about you?

.

I want to wish my brother, Dudley Coomer Jr. and Diane Coomer from Williamstown, Kentucky, a happy anniversary. It was on June 15.

.

How come the media is coming down so hard on our president of the United States? He has done good for the United States. Why isn’t anybody talking about what Joe Biden and his son did in Ukraine? You want to talk about somebody crooked, then talk about who is running against our president of the United States.

.

I’d rather have Confederate flags up in Whitesburg than gay pride flags.

.

People want to take Confederate monuments down? Well why don’t they take down the satanic monuments in this country? What does Satan represent? Oppression. Taking down everything the Confederate Army fought for? Let’s just take up all the tombstones of our forefathers and toss them in the trash, too. Yes, black lives matter, but you can kiss this white man’s behind for what you are doing. God bless America. And if the South had won we would have it made.

.

To a certain person: You don’t own that property in front of my house. You don’t have a deed to it; I do. You think you’re doing something smart by mowing that property but you’re not. It’s been proven before who owns what and who doesn’t and it will be proven again in a court of law. If you think you are going to push my family around you are crazy.

.

What does it say about us as a community when one of our county officials has to go publicly spitting out hurtful, hateful comments about stuff just because he needs to pander for votes? I don’t even know if he’s running for election this year, but he could have just stayed quiet. Also, he ought to take a history class, because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. What he wrote and posted on Facebook was embarrassing.

.

The United States reminds me of the old saying, ‘you can shoot a horse but that doesn’t fix its broken leg.’ That’s the way this nation is. We can’t seem to heal the broken leg.

.

The man a former teacher is now living with has said he will never marry her. He’s just waiting around to get some money. So beware.

.

I just wanted to say goodbye to the University of Kentucky. All lives matter, not just blacks. Support the white people, too. You have messed that ball team up down there. I will never watch you again.

(Seriously?)

.

I want to thank Speak Your Piece for repeating my quote from a couple of weeks ago about the $1,200 stimulus checks and how people who don’t support President Trump shouldn’t have cashed those checks. I am proud of it, because another caller got in there and talked plumb nasty to me — said I was stupid and ignorant. Well, mister, this is my response to you: You need to take a course in learning how to read.

.

To all the people around the world: What is the first gift God gave to you when He saved you? The first gift He gave me was love — love for everyone, even for my enemies. For some reason, people don’t want to use the love the way they should. They want to judge and talk. They don’t need to be talking; they need to be praying. We are going through a terrible time and we need to bond together. Pray that the Lord stands by us all — my family as well as yours. We are not judges. Only God has the right to judge.

.

After ordering no crowds and social distancing by governors and mayors, our nation was beginning to recover from a killer pandemic. The police officer that murdered George Floyd did so with reckless abandon and without any regard to human life. Now because of the medical emergency and the no crowds and social distancing, any person who participated in crowded marches did so with premeditation and without regard to the health, safety and welfare of millions of people. This, too, should be condemned. It clearly is in direct defiance of a standing emergency medical order and should not be labeled as a peaceful assembly. The First Amendment right to peacefully assemble and petition for redress of grievances cannot and must not be used to deprive any citizen of life, liberty or property without due process. But unfortunately, this is the case. The callous exploitation of George Floyd’s death by the politically-charged and morally deficient news media and the radical propaganda stalkers of various political groups and the inexcusable actions and posturing of major political parties has rendered nil the effective purposes of the First and Fourteenth Amendments and weakened the foundation of all Articles and Bill of Rights set forth in the Constitution. In all my 75 years on earth, I have never until now witnessed public officials kneeling, crying and prostituting themselves before a politically motivated, factually incorrect, ill-informed protesting mob. Thank you.

.

I thought when you retired and started receiving Social Security benefits it was because there was something wrong with you. Well, I know a certain gentleman who is retired, supposedly because he’s crippled up in the back. I can tell you right now he isn’t too disabled. I followed him to Bad Branch Falls and saw him riding on a sideby side. I’ve even seen him go on big snake hunts back on the tops of these mountains. I don’t see anything wrong with his back. My question to Mr. Bad Back is this: When are you going to tell your woman the truth? Because if you don’t I will.

.

Dear Speak Your Piece: If they are going to go through with this big ‘defund the police’ plan how about starting with the DEA, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and cutting out half of its budget and officers? The DEA has done nothing but stop doctors from doing their jobs and making cancer victims suffer. Let’s start the defunding with them right now.

.

Yes, I would like to know something about Black Lives Matter. It’s bad enough for one person to be killed like that guy was in Minneapolis, but you can have a dozen people killed in Chicago and there is no mention of it. There are no protests there. So how can you kill a dozen in Chicago and never hear it mentioned, but when something happens somewhere else it’s a big deal? I don’t know why this is happening. I know there are a lot of politics involved, but how it works I don’t know. Where is Black Lives Matter when it comes to the Chicago violence? That’s all I’m asking.

.

To the people who were out rioting and looting: Please stop the nonsense. It’s useless; it’s stupid.

.

I have one thing on my mind and it’s these people wanting to get rid of our cops. If we didn’t have them in Letcher County we couldn’t sleep at night because we’d be having to kill people. We already have to put lights out everywhere so we can see what the drug addicts and thieves are doing and how close they get to our homes at night. I think we need more cops, not less.

.

These governors and the president and all the other politicians get on this TV and lie so much that I just turn it off.

.

We don’t need Sam Wright back in office. We don’t know if he’s on the left or on the right and he doesn’t, either.

.

For the county water department: We have breaks in the lines and bad water, but they never tell us when we are on a boil-water advisory. I think it’s a shame that we don’t find out about the boil-water advisory until after the advisory has been lifted.

To the barbershops that have raised their prices to $15: Your greed may have hurt you, because a lot of family and friends are going to Virginia now to get their hair cut. As for myself, I got a haircut once a month. I am going to get one every other month now and cut out the tip. So your greed may hurt you in the long run.

.

I took two of those Preparation H suppositories. I nearly choked to death trying to swallow those things. And for all the good they did I might as well have stuck them up my nose.

.

What good is for WMMTFM to have a radio station when the signal won’t come through and they need a transmitter? What good does it do to have a WMMT when its streaming keeps going off? What good does it do to have a WMMT when you can’t even hear it?

.

Concerning the comment about President Trump’s not serving in the military: First, thank you for your courteous comment. I think you are wrong about President Trump’s reason for not serving, but I am glad he didn’t. He probably would have become a general, a position that requires 30 to 40 years of rigid training and is not a good résumé for being president. Vice versa, the 30 to 40 years of a professional politician is not a good résumé for commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. Through no fault of their own, they read and interpret the constitution with a different mindset. Thank you. Have a good day.

.

When you destroy your history you forget it and then you’ll repeat it. How long will it be before they go out and take George Washington and Thomas Jefferson off Mount Rushmore?

.

To the person or persons who are saying things in Speak Your Piece about God and Jesus: You are walking on dangerous ground. God will not be mocked. He has ways to get your attention, but He is merciful. King David said when he messed up, let me fall into the hands of the Lord for He is merciful and not into the hands of man. This is not a maybe. Read Psalms 46.

.

Trump was headed to Texas today to campaign. That is one sick man. At least 113,138 people have died of COVID-19. At this point we have had 15 nights of protest and all Trump can think about is his campaign for reelection. He comes up with some Antifa theory about a 75-year-old man who never harmed anyone and was a peaceful protester. Trump’s stupid photo op at the church was disgusting. He is not a good Christian man at all; he is a lowdown dirty rotten scoundrel who thinks he can buy his way into the White House a second time.

.

Thank you for The Mountain Eagle and for having Speak Your Piece, which allows people to voice their opinions. You are one in a million that allows people the privilege to say what they want to say. I’ve been telling quite a few people about Speak Your Piece and they say they’ve never heard of anything like it. One lady has lived in about nine different states because her husband is a special construction designer who helped build the Cumberland Gap Tunnel. Of all the papers she has read she says she has never seen anything like The Mountain Eagle and Speak Your Piece. Thanks again for all you do. And God bless all of you.

.

To the caller complaining about four women lying on the floor in the county jail and asking where all the programs are to help them: Well, they have been lying with worse than what’s on the jail floor and they had 18 years of programs called public schools. They should have worked hard in school for an education. So now they are getting a great education lying on those floors.

.

The other night I watched on C-SPAN where Trump traveled to Maine to talk about the fishing industry. Of course every fisherman said the problem was that Obama had stopped this and stopped that. Trump agreed wholeheartedly that Obama had destroyed just about everything and he was going to have to put it back together. But he also blasted the governor of Maine when he found out the governor had yet to open the state back up from COVID 19 and was planning to do so in July. Trump told the people there that if the governor didn’t open it back up soon he would do it for the governor. Peter Navarro was with Trump and Trump kept telling him to make a new law for this and that. He told Navarro that he wanted to make it better for the fishermen in Maine than it was before, but failed to say that a lot of the problems facing the Maine fishing industry is the result of Trump’s tariffs on China.

.

I truly hope they are finally going to remove all of those Civil War statues — just the ones of all the generals and such. Some of the pieces of the Civil War need to remain as a reminder, but all the statues of the generals of the North and the South need to be removed. I am also tickled to death that the Confederate flag is being removed at many places. I don’t think many of the people here who fly the Confederate flag realize what it represents. Maybe The Mountain Eagle could do a little story on what that flag represents.

.

I do love the Trump hater who continuously calls Speak Your Piece. He or she is providing wonderful entertainment during this time of great desperation in our country. I just can’t begin to explain to you how grateful I am that this person has Donald Trump living in his or her brain rent-free. I hope they enjoy. I sure do. Thank you.

.

I have a grandson. I think he is on the autism spectrum and I love him dearly. I think his daddy has taught him the only thing that counts is winning, and if he cheats and wins that just shows he’s smarter. It breaks my heart that he is so lonely. He doesn’t have any friends because he gets so mad at them if they disagree with him and he says terrible things about them. He’s a dear and I just love him to death, but if he ever ran for public office I couldn’t vote for him. It would be a terrible thing to do to him and to the country. I love them both too much for that.

.

I believe that what I read in my local hometown newspaper about COVID-19 is a great idea — that people don’t have to remain incarcerated if they do not want to because this is a very serious pandemic and the virus is killing people in jails and prisons. Thank God none of my immediate family is in jail, but I pray for all who are. And I thank God the Kentucky Supreme Court has spoken up to save more lives. They are overcrowded at the Letcher County Jail.

.

I would like to thank the person or persons who gave the senior citizens the box of vegetables. They are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. From a senior citizen.

.

All that’s going on around our country now and the shining of a brighter light on the interactions the public has with law enforcement should serve as a wake-up call for us all. I believe the police are needed as public servants to enforce the laws that govern our great nation, but I also believe that all must be held accountable for their actions. Just as in the big cities we here have to endure some actions that are questionable to say the least. The three major cities in Letcher County — Jenkins, Fleming-Neon and Whitesburg — have the same internal discipline (or lack thereof) problems due to the excess in use and abuse of authority. I myself have been on the receiving end of police brutality and am a witness to the fact that things get pushed aside while law-enforcement officers are upheld by those with the authority to insure such are not repeated. I have now armed myself with video as well as audio abilities to make a record of any contact with the police. When it comes to what I will call rogue young officers, the City of Jenkins sits alone at the top followed by the Kentucky State Police. My teenaged child and many of yours are being stopped for no legal reason, confronted in parking lots by police in the city, and threatened and cursed at only because two officers are on a power trip. Please arm yourself and your family with the ability to make a record of their interactions with police. We have far more good police officers than bad and I thank God for each and every one of them. Look on the news at the trouble one terrible police officer and three who would not intervene has brought to our streets and neighborhoods. Do you think we are exempt because we are in eastern Kentucky?

.

Thanks to the fast food joints whose workers show their support for the president by not wearing masks. I’ll keep giving you my business since I love having you spew coronavirus all over my food.

.

Friday’s peaceful protest in downtown Whitesburg was one of the most amazing events to take place here and be a part of history. It has also exposed every local official and business that is racist.

.

When you stand up against anything you have to be prepared for the backlash. There will be resistance. If you’re not willing to be ridiculed then stay out of it. It appears our county judge/executive and deputy judge/executive are part of the resistance. We’re lucky we have a younger generation that is going to be part of the solution.

.

Well it looks like white supremacy, racism, and bigotry has invaded the county judge’s office. Next thing you know he will be trying to take away your first amendment rights.

.

As awful as it is that our county judge/executive would get on Facebook and deny there are any racists left in Letcher County while also using Adolf Hitler’s name in criticizing peaceful local protesters, that is not the worst of what has been coming out of the office of Terry Adams or from people associated with members of our Letcher County Fiscal Court. This following jewel of a racist post criticizing our governor comes from one county official Judge Adams appointed and pays well with our tax dollars. And please, Mountain Eagle, leave the capital letters and grammar the way it is on the copy of the man’s post: ‘I hear he’s gonna offer free lifetime Taco’s to those of Mexican Descent for their Votes!’ That comment is racist on so many levels and sadly it comes from a man we pay to work with our state officials on behalf of our county, not against them. And here’s yet another jewel of a racist post, again you can see just how it was written. This one is from the manager of a business that is owned by one of our elected fiscal court members: ‘I’ve always said one of the worst mistakes white men made, was bringing blacks here, this verifies my thoughts.’ To Judge Adams and the magistrate: The ball is in your court. What are you going to do about the racist comments these two men said while working under your employ? We will be paying attention.

.

The current topic of interest in many towns and cities seems to be the ‘defund the police’ proposals. Since the anarchist folks seem to think policemen and women are now second-class citizens, I have a proposal that might be worth trying. All police departments across America should engage in a joint week-long ‘sick out’ to allow the anti-police movement a view of how peaceful society will be once all law enforcement activities are ended. During this period criminals can breathe a welcome sigh of relief knowing they no longer have to worry about the police arresting them. All jail and prison inmates can be released during this police ‘sick-out’ week. Ending all incarceration is another demand of the anarchist movement. This will allow regular folks to really see how unnecessary it is to enforce laws against burglary, spousal abuse, assault, child abuse, rape, kidnapping, and murder, etc. All criminals will of course magically revert to being law-abiding model citizens. The 911 services will be disbanded since crime will no longer exist. Police departments across the country can use their coordinated ‘sick-out’ week to show all American citizens just how well the ‘defund the police’ proposals would work. Just imagine, folks, our country will be totally free of all criminal activity once the police departments are a thing of the past. Sounds wonderful, right? Think about it.

.

I want to speak about the proposed prison project, which evidently has been cancelled. I hope everyone who backs Trump blindly will reject him. He’s lied and cheated and bullied all his life, and now he’s lied and cheated us. He and Mitch McConnell and all the Republican cowards could care less about Letcher County and its citizens. How much more evidence do you need? Trump should be exiled to a desert island and let’s get someone with morals and ethics in the White House again. McConnell should lose the upcoming election and let’s get a senator that cares for Kentucky and its people. Wake up, people. Republicans work for themselves and their rich donors. Enough is enough.

.

The county judge/executive’s social media post about the Black Lives Matter rally in Whitesburg was offensive and inappropriate. For a white man to say, ‘there’s not a problem with racism’ is the very problem. If he really wanted to be a leader, he would have participated in the march and heard the stories of those who live with the problem that he claims does not exist. There’s a reason so many young people leave this area.

.

How is it that kneeling to ask America to be better defiles the flag and makes you unpatriotic but waving the flag of a nation that seceded from America and waged war against us doesn’t?

.

Just read a recent Facebook post from our judge/ executive. Why are the people who proclaim to be Christians so full of hate?

.

June 12, 2020 was a beautiful day in Whitesburg. A small town came together to spread love to one another, to the local police departments and to our black community. But it sickens me to my core to see the comments from Letcher County Judge/Executive Terry Adams. He did not march. He did not participate. Instead, he decided to spout racism and bigotry on social media. We need representatives for this county that care. There’s no room for hate in this county anymore. Terry Adams needs to resign.

.

What a beautiful Friday night in Whitesburg with a huge crowd of neighbors gathering for justice as the sun set. We held a vigil for a young woman who was murdered in our state and is yet to have justice served. We marched and prayed together for justice in our own county, but very few local officials joined us and our judge/executive publicly denied the racism his own black constitutes spoke to on our courthouse steps. Terry Adams should resign.

.

Judge Adams never was much to brag on, but now he’s an embarrassment like this county has rarely seen. This is not how leaders ought to be acting during hard times.

.

According to Census. gov, 30 percent of Letcher Countians live in poverty. Only 42 percent have jobs. In Trump’s first two years as president unemployment in Letcher County has increased by six percent. This was taken before COVID. It’s time to vote for a change.

.

Enough is enough. It’s long past time Americans stood up and cleaned out the sewer that used to be the Republican Party.

.

Has the National Guard killed any citizens between the four in Ohio and the recent one in Louisville? Or have all of them been under Republican presidents?

.

I didn’t think our reality TV fake president could jack anything up higher than the national debt, but he’s giving it a good try with over 113,000 virus deaths — and both are still rising

.

I just wanted to remind everyone that the president who claims to be the president of law and order is the very same president who since the beginning has defied subpoenas and court orders to Congress and judges — who at an assembly of law enforcement said you know how you put your hand on their heads and put them in the police car; rough them up, don’t be gentle. Trump is always inciting violence toward the people. Justice for all is not justice for all when his proven guilty friends are pardoned and black people are caught, imprisoned and executed on the streets in front of us. I also want to remind the taxpaying coal miners of Mitch McConnell’s refusal to meet with the coal miners who made a long trip to see him and were told he was too busy for their black lung problems and employment problems. Too interested in Russian influence I suppose.

.

Can someone explain to me how a certain jail inmate scored a certain jail employee’s daughter? This guy gets everything. Good for him though.

.

Please pray for our deputy county judge. I know that having a BLM protest in Whitesburg has been very uncomfortable for him.

.

It’s sad that the people Trump despises the most — the people on government assistance — are some of his biggest supporters.

.

To the Trump lover who asked if the military oath says soldiers can fire on civilians if ordered: No, you fascist, it doesn’t. The American people need to stop playing around and round up every last one of you until this country is finally, once and for all, cleansed of your treasonous, diseased, and inbred sub-species. The United States would be better off burned to ashes than to suffer the infestation of your kind of vermin.
