I am calling to comment on my taxes. I have made no improvements at all to my property and my taxes went up approximately $55 from last year. Taxes have gone up.

.

People, be careful who you vote for. The Bible says in Matthew 6:24 that no one can serve two masters. If you vote for evil you will be in trouble. You better vote for someone who is going to help your country, not take your Social Security or make things more evil. Read the Bible, serve God, and vote for Trump please. He is not for evil, he is for good. Bad people are out there stirring up trouble. Please live for God. Don’t do evil things. Read God’s word and serve Him.

.

Mitch McConnell says in his ads that Amy McGrath will start another war on coal. McConnell said recently there was no war on coal. Which is it?

.

Joe Biden is telling another one. He said he will lower health care costs. Obama and Joe Biden have already raised my insurance premium $356 a month.

.

Mitch McConnell represents almost four million people and has done more for Letcher, Harlan and Pike counties than anyone else in 75 years. He personally did nothing to harm the coal industry. Those who instigated and tolerated the ravaging of our streams and lands with the two-acre permits forced Congress to eliminate what we did not handle in Kentucky ourselves. This was 1984 and Mitch was county judge/executive in Jefferson County at this time. In addition, Obama and his Hollywood cronies eliminated coal processing and sales plants in 2010 and that destroyed the coal sales’ future. The person that is highly critical of Mitch must be a liberal Democrat as Mitch and Hal Rogers have done more for eastern Kentucky than any political person has ever tried in 75 years. For instance, the new road and industrial site at Jenkins was $80 million, road across Pine Mountain $55 million, and the new 10-story parking garage at the Pikeville hospital cost $120 million, without any financial payback and presently we hope to get the federal project at Roxana that $525 million has been secured along with a possible $30 million for an airport in Isom. This is just a small part of what Mitch and Hal have been responsible for and much more can be tabulated, such as $300 million to University of Kentucky and $150 million to two other colleges in western Kentucky.

.

Joe Biden won’t answer the question about packing the Supreme Court until after the election, because he knows that if people find out for sure that he intends to pack the Court he will definitely lose the election.

.

Donald Trump has paid more for sex than he did on his income tax statement for the past decade.

.

The Democrats approved another $1,200 check for us poor people and Mitch Mc- Connell won’t even bring it up in the Senate and says we can’t afford it.

.

Mitch McConnell says he’s against mail-in voting. However, his wife has to mail in her vote because she’s never in Kentucky.

.

Have you noticed that fewer people are buying their propane from Ferrellgas? Could it be because they don’t respect their customers, they are not very reliable, and they are raising their prices?

.

Do people realize that a lot of Letcher County people are now burying their children because of cancer or liver failure? What is wrong with our county? Just look around and start talking to people. What is it that is killing us? Thirty- and 40-year-old people are dying. Something is wrong and somebody needs to find out what is causing it.

I just want to say happy birthday to a beautiful lady from Jenkins. Her birthday is October 22, and I hope her day is as special as she is. And of course you know who you are.

.

Have any of you paid any attention to Donald Trump at his rallies where he holds his right fist up in the air like Hitler or some of these white supremacists? I have. I watch it each and every time he gets out there.

.

To the old grouch who doesn’t like me going across the road to try to be friends with somebody: I don’t care one bit what you think and what you say. Keep your thoughts to yourself. On Sesame Street they have a grouch who lives in a garbage can. His name is Oscar. Maybe you ought to watch Oscar and take some pointers from him. But this isn’t Sesame Street, this is the real world and I don’t live in a fantasy world like you do.

.

I heard that preacher is running for office and bragging that the NRA had endorsed him. Does he not trust God to take care of him? If he trusts God why does he need his guns? I think they should disarm preachers and let God defend them. I let God defend me because I trust the Lord enough not to worry about guns and the NRA and things like that.

.

Dear Speak Your Piece: I think it’s time to put the kids back in school. My son had the coronavirus. He is 37. He had almost no symptoms. He sweated it out and had a taste problem. I think the kids would probably have a better immune system than my son. So it’s back to school time.

.

To an old girlfriend: How do you work every day and still draw that big Social Security check like you do? It must be awful nice how you are able to go out here and buy everything new on credit. If you knew the federal government was going to catch you, what would you do? Would you run and hide or get some family member to stand up for you? One of these days you are bound to get caught.

.

I just called to say that the children of Amy McGrath should give their mother a big hug and thank her for not aborting them when they were in the womb. She says she’s a woman of faith and teaches her kids about God. Well how about teaching kids about thou shalt not kill?

.

Since Amy McGrath may be threatening Mitch Mc- Connell’s long paralyzing grip on our Congress he must be handing out tons of more IOU’s to his corporate connections — those billionaires who are mostly anonymous and mostly out-of-state. All of their dark money can buy a lot of these attack ads we are seeing. They are effective propaganda and are needed for his election again, or maybe not. Maybe we are smarter and won’t be suckered in this time.

.

Mitch McConnell can get a woman on the Supreme Court in 30 days but he can’t get a stimulus bill through in six months. This show what his priorities are. He wants this woman on the court but doesn’t want the rest of us to have another $1,200.

.

I’ve been paying attention to the shooting down on Montgomery Creek at Vicco. How does anyone kill a little child? What possesses someone to do that? An eye for an eye is what this should be.

.

Mickey Stines and his deputies need to come to Doty Creek and get rid of some of these drug dealers who sneak around and steal off people in broad daylight and get by with it.

.

God bless you, Mr. President. The world needs to be concerned about the eight million tons of plastic that’s being dumped into the ocean each year, most of it being just plastic bottles. Another thing the world should be concerned about is the millions of gallons of radioactive water Japan is going to release into the ocean from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant. How can Japan do this? There is a lot going on in this world that the future can’t stand. There is no future left if we keep going the way we are going with our oceans and our air. We are murdering our oceans.

.

I’ve been to the mountaintop, a great man said, but what one racist did I’ll never understand. Can’t we all get along, said another man. They beat him so bad I’ll never understand. I can’t breathe, said another man. They didn’t care, they did it until he was dead. How can I understand? This was done to these black men. Hands up, don’t shoot may save some lives if they would understand. Black lives matter, do you understand? God bless America. Alfred Osborne.

.

I wish our public officials would have to drive from Isom to Blackey down Route 7 everyday to see the road and what it does to the alignment in our cars. Please do something. Thank you.

.

There is no need in anyone anywhere voting for Joe Biden. It’s a wasted vote. We are going to impeach Biden within the first six months or less of his presidency or Donald Trump’s presidency.

.

I have been through several haunted houses in my day, but we went through Mountain Mayhem last night in Whitesburg and found it to be the best haunted house my family has ever gone through. It was very scary and very good. The three things that stood out were the creepy clown, the awful nun, and the scarecrow. Watch out for them; they are really good. Check out Mountain Mayhem. It’s really cool. Thank you.

.

I would like to wish my wife Evelyn a happy birthday. She is my rock. She is what keeps me going. I love you, Evelyn.

.

I know there are millions of good Christian Democrats out there. You know you are against abortion, so vote for Donald Trump.

.

When you’re driving on Main Street in Whitesburg, you have the right-of-way unless a pedestrian crosses the street at a crosswalk. When you’re coming off of the bypass onto Main Street, or from the old High School Hill, you have a stop sign. Get that? Two stop signs feeding into Main Street. You come to a complete stop and wait until Main Street is clear before you carry on. So, young man, don’t flip off an elder waiting at a stop sign when you have the right-of-way and are driving on Main Street. Shame on you. You hurt my feelings.

.

Mitch McConnell knows one thing about politics. You can fool some of the people all the time. And that is what he has done to the people of eastern Kentucky for many years. Where are the coal jobs? Where is the prison? Where is the airport? Where is any kind of help for the retired coal miners? Ditch Mitch.

.

To a certain lady with a business in town: You may want to tell your husband to stop spewing his political hate on Facebook or you’ll have so many people in this county too uncomfortable with you to even give you a chance. I for one have seen enough of it that I’ll drive to Virginia before you get my business. He’s not going to talk about us the way he does without consequences.

.

Is it possible for Kentucky to get two 36-year-old monkeys off its back in the same year? Vote him out.

.

I’ve voted R for every Republican on the ballot more than a few times. But Mitch McConnell keeps making and breaking the same promises and I’m sick and tired of him. Lots of my friends agree; it’s time to ditch Mitch. I’m voting McGrath.

.

Donald Trump wants to destroy the EPA so his billionaire buddies can do whatever they want to the environment, as long as it makes them richer. He wants to destroy the Post Office because he fears absentee ballots will defeat him, even though the military — and Trump’s family — vote by absentee ballot. Also, his buddies can then set up mail delivery systems and get richer off of you. He wants to destroy public education because he and his kids went to private schools where they did not have to associate with inferior classes. He wants to destroy Social Security so his friends’ corporations don’t have to contribute their share toward your retirement. Then, when you have to set up a 401K plan, his buddies can manipulate the stock market to get richer with your money. Talk to someone who lost their home and retirement in the 2008 crash that occurred under Bush. Finally? Trump wants the courts to allow him to stop Food Stamps for 700,000 unemployed families. I don’t like paying taxes any more than you do, but when you think Trump and his buddies are smart because they avoid taxes, just remember that someone has to make up for that lost revenue, and that means me and you. Check out everything I said above, but if you only rely on Fox News you won’t hear it there, because Fox is owned by one of Trump’s billionaire buddies. Wise up; then rise up.

.

Predictions if Biden is elected: One, after six to nine months Biden will be removed from office for some reason such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, or whatever reason the Democrats can manufacture and the radical Harris will then take over. Second, within 12 to 18 months the Democrat Party will bankrupt this country; it has already got a good start with California, New York, Washington, Chicago, and Baltimore. The reason why a new stimulus bill did not go through is because the funds could be used for county and state governments that are mismanaged. Third, taxes will rise. Taxes always go up when the Democrat Party controls the government, regardless of what they say. Four, within 18 months the Democrat Party will come after your guns. A man once said you do not need an AR-15 to go hunting. An AR-15 is not designed for hunting; it is designed for self-protection, to keep you free and to assist in keeping the government off your back. A wise man once said a government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything away. I do not want to vote for Trump, but I do not like what the other side has to offer.

.

So glad we’re going to have an honest, intelligent judge representing the 7th district in the near future.

.

I thought the lunches being sent to the kids from the schools were for the kids, not adults.

.

Another week of Speak Your Piece and another batch of propaganda from the brain-dead treasonous, racist, liars supporting the Russian agent currently squatting in the White House. A few examples and answers: ‘Have any of you educated young ones checked out what socialism is?’ I’d bet that most of those educated young ones know more about it than you do, you propaganda-spewing imbecile. ‘The Bible says God appoints leaders.’ And you are a hopeless idiot if you believe that. The United States is not now, and has never been, a theocracy. If that’s the kind of government you want, get your behind out of this country, because you can’t have it here. Not negotiable, not open for discussion. ‘Mr. Trump, the American people support you.’ No, a pack of treasonous, backstabbing hyenas support him. Do not presume to act like you speak for the rest of us. ‘Kamala Harris, vice-presidential candidate, A/K/A the witch from Hades.’ Shut your racist mouth and crawl back into whatever Klan sewer you crawled out of.

.

The entrance to Mayking needs to be cleaned up on both sides of the road. We don’t drop our junk in other people’s yards, so don’t drop junk in ours. We have pride in our community, too, so clean it up. Thanks, Fed Up Mayking Resident.

.

I am praying for our president, as he has done more for Christians than anyone else. He asked a proclaiming Christian who lives what he claims to be to be his vice-president. He asked Christian leaders to meet regularly to pray for him and our country. He brought back the Day of Prayer. He restored our relationship with Israel and moved our embassy to Jerusalem. God has promised to bless those who bless Israel. He has stopped giving our tax dollars to countries that hate us and want the death of every Christian. He is not trying to be popular with the whole world; his concern is for the American people. It is God’s will that every able-bodied man work and provide for his family, not others who work and pay taxes. He has done more for our vets and military who keep us safe. He is bringing our soldiers home from policing other countries who hate us. He is trying to police our borders to stop illegal drugs from coming in and killing our children and destroying almost every family in America. He has made us oil- and gas-independent from other countries. God put them here for us to use and make many jobs for Americans. God will take care of this Earth until He comes to get us. The most important issue in our country is who is on the Supreme Court. Our president has nominated three conservatives. Trump is the first president to stand with Right to Life to protect the unborn. If he gets reelected we can choose where our children go to school and what they are taught. No one could have done a better job with the virus. God is in charge of life. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

Although this comment is about politics, it is not intended to be a political statement. I am not voting for or against a political party. In fact, I am not voting for or against a political candidate. Instead, I am voting for solutions to the many problems that our nation is currently facing. I will cast my vote for the candidate that has the leadership, character, and political skills to solve the most problems. I will vote for a better future. I will vote for a better America. Following are some of the problems facing our country right now. Although these are not all the problems that we face, they are among those that are most often discussed/ argued. So I am asking myself which candidate is most likely to: 1. Control the COVID 19 pandemic that is causing so much economic problems, health problems and deaths. 2. Correct the social and racial injustices that are fueling the violence throughout our country. 3. Tone down the political division that is causing so much hate among us. 4. Solve the financing for Social Security so that it will still be there for us and our children. 5. Save the U.S. Postal Service so that even the most rural Americans will have efficient, daily mail service. 6. Enable all Americans to have access to affordable health care. 7. Decrease the number of abortions. 8. Reduce gun violence while also reducing the fear of gun confiscation. 9. Lessen the mistrust of our government officials by having transparency, honesty, dignity, and integrity in the White House. 10. Follow the Biblical Golden Rule by showing compassion, respect, and kindness to others.

.

With the elections approaching the churches are holding political rallies. Oh the preachers don’t say the name of any candidate or any political party, but what they say is enough for everyone to know who they are campaigning for. Their political position is based on a single issue: abortion. Now I am also opposed to abortion but there is more to being a Christian than opposing abortion. When Jesus was asked which of the 10 Commandments were the most important He said to love God more than anything else, and to love other people. Although ‘ Thou shalt not kill’ is an important commandment Jesus considered your relationship with God and how you treat others as being more important. Now consider how the preachers’ choice candidate honors these two commandments. Does he attend church on the Sabbath?

Does he worship God more than himself and his public image? Does he treat others with love, kindness, concern and compassion? And how does he adhere to the other commandments? Does he lie? Does he bear false witness against his adversaries? Has he committed adultery? Has he stolen from us taxpayers? Have his insults and behavior honored his parents? Has his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic caused unnecessary deaths? Preachers, how can you honestly say your candidate is a Christian?

.

I question Mitch’s military record. He was drafted but he only spent a couple of months in the army. He won’t answer questions about why or how he was discharged from the army. Mitch will not show his military records. If he sent another man in his place, we deserve to know why. This has come up before. Mitch does his usual I’m above reproach speech. It goes away. Things have changed. We won’t settle this time. If he was discharged for a physical reason wouldn’t that reason have been discovered during the physical before he spent a couple of months in the army? If it was a physical reason, was it a common reason for discharge? Did he have political help to get out/ discharged from the army? Was there another reason he was discharged? Why won’t Mitch show us his military records? Was he court-martialed? Sincerely, Kentuckian #4

.

I question Mitch’s misleading commercials. Mitch has an attorney and videos of riots that didn’t even happen in Kentucky. We had some riots in Louisville. He didn’t show those in his TV ad because the people walking around Louisville with ARs like they are military or police, are not. They are from right-wing groups like 3%-ers, Proud Boys, Patriots, etc. That’s who scares me. Mitch has a TV ad saying Amy McGrath basically wants to end our health care and give us socialized medicine. This is not true. The truth is Trump (GOP) doesn’t have a replacement either. This is what will end health care for many. Mitch has another ad about how he saved businesses in Kentucky with the Paycheck Protection Act. The truth is he gave far more money to businesses that did not need money to survive. Mitch won’t tell us the exact amount or to who our tax dollars went. Just because at the end of the commercial he says, ‘I’m Mitch Mc- Connell and I approve this message,’ doesn’t mean he is telling the facts. Sincerely, Kentuckian #5.

.

We are voting for Amy McGrath for Senate. Here’s why. Amy served 20 years in the marines. She flew 70+ combat missions. She put her life on the line for ours. It’s her nature to put others before herself. That means a lot to us. She has plans for Kentucky. Amy has ideas about how Kentucky can grow a new and better economy. Jobs with good pay. Amy walks the talk. Her staff is unionized and makes $15 an hour. Her plan isn’t only jobs that require college degrees either. That is really important to us. We are average Kentuckians and our families are blue-collar workers. Most importantly she will put the worker before the big corporations. She has a plan for helping kids get to college if that’s what they choose. We want that option for our younger family members. She believes every Kentuckian should have health insurance and affordable prescription medications. She supports expanding the use of drug courts and to not rely on jail as our main way to address the drug only criminals. Broadband, she wants us to have broadband. For rural communities that look more like ghost towns every day, she has Partnering with Rural Kentucky. Amy wants to build up small businesses. She has plans to help coal miners. We won’t have to worry about her voting to end our Social Security and Medicare. Amy is military, she fully supports the Second Amendment. We can’t list all of our reasons here. You can read her stances on issues that are important to you on her website and make your own decision.
