Kentucky Power Company could care less whether the poor little children of Letcher County have anything to eat as long as their parents can pay for them trying to jump our power bills up. I have news for Kentucky Power: You will have your day in hell for jacking our power bills up so high when people can’t even afford to eat. What is wrong with you people? Are you stupid, dumb, or do you just not care?

.

Tennessee leads the world in per capita virus infections and deaths. On the plus side most of its citizens have shown their support for the president by refusing to wear masks or distancing.

.

A special shout-out to my good friend Coley Brown.

Here’s my opinion about the folks who are always spying on other people’s business and then talking smack about them: The more fanatical a gossiper or tattler is about those they go around criticizing, the more of their own personal screwups they’re trying to hide. It’s a matter of, ‘Look over there at them, not over here at me.’ The more extreme and fanatical a person is about labeling other folks as ‘sinners,’ the more of their personal moral failings they’re trying to cover up. So, folks, cut other people a little slack. Most of us are trying to live life the best we can, even in this crazy pandemic time. How about this idea for the coming year: Whenever you run into somebody, find something complimentary to say to them. It may take practice, but pretty soon everyone will feel much better about themselves and others. Best wishes for the Christmas holidays and 2021.

.

Maybe now that our prestigious attorney general has lost all of his lawsuits against our great governor, he can find the time to intervene in the Letcher County Water and Sewer District’s outrageous rate increase like he did Bell County’s. FYI, their increase wasn’t nearly as high as Letcher County’s is.

.

I would like to say thank you to all of the people across Letcher County who have done so well with their outdoor Christmas decorations this year. Two of the places that stick out in my mind are Thornton Creek and Isom. I have to drive through both of them after dark in the winter to get home from work, and this year I have enjoyed the drive every single workday. Thornton, in particular, is amazing this year.

(Those of us at The Mountain Eagle who are lucky enough to live on Thornton are one hundred percent in agreement with your observation. It is a great year there for Christmas decorations.)

Dear Speak Your Piece: I heard that even some of the workers at ARH had the COVID. They ought to know they need to clean that hospital better, and maybe hire a few more workers to help clean and sanitize.

.

Questions for church leaders: Did you lock the church doors during the coronavirus pandemic? If so, why? Is everyone saved? No one sick and needing prayer and visitation? Did God take a vacation? Is it your job to stand in church and proclaim that Christ is Lord of Lords and the King of Kings or close the church in the governor’s name? Remember what Jesus said — ‘He that findeth his life shall lose it, and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.’ Now read Acts 5:29. And you will be wise to study Mark 3:23-29. Thank you.

.

On Inauguration Day 2017, Kentucky’s unemployment rate was 4.8 percent. Now it’s 7.4 percent. I wish we’d had a president who cared about jobs the last four years instead of just enriching his crime family.

.

John Calipari is a good recruiter, but he’s not a good coach. He yells too much. He really over-coaches. You talk about being overpaid; he’s been there 10 or 11 years and made millions and millions of dollars and one only one more national championship that Billy Gillespie.

.

Like the song says, fairytales can come true; it can happen to you if you’re young at heart or you’re a billionaire. What if once upon a time George Soros and Mark Zuckerberg hated Trump as much as the Democrats did and started a plan in March 2020 to fix the election — taking their billions to pay Democrat governors, mayors and vote counters, along with the help of the fake news, and accomplished the greatest fraud in the history of the United States and they all lived happily ever after?

.

I remember back in the 2020 election they were all talking about Joe Biden and how he was going to deliver the stimulus check to all the people out here in the United States. Well, we are still waiting. We have seen nothing yet and probably won’t because all they want to do it lie. Joe Biden doesn’t care about anybody. All he wants to do is take Social Security away from everybody.

(Congratulations on being able to remember all the way back to November. However, Joe Biden won’t be able to take any action — up or down — on any stimulus proposal or your Social Security benefits until after he is inaugurated as president on January 20, 2021.)

.

I hope we get about six to eight inches of snow for Christmas. That would be the best Christmas anybody could ask for.

.

This vaccine they are giving out, I am for giving it to all of the politicians first and then go from there after we see what it does. Thank you.

.

Both political parties in Washington wanted rid of Trump because he was about to tear their playhouse down. If you hate Trump, you hate this country. His role was to put it back on track.

.

Wow. Put any old police department in the school system? What’s next, a jail in the back, students all wearing uniforms? You’ve done it again, board members. You sat there on your hands smiling and giggling. What irresponsibility for our school system.

.

Come on, Mr. Principal, hold your head up high and get your chin off your chest. You have not done anybody wrong, have you? LOL.

.

All President Trump knew on his TV show and his four years in the White House was how to fire people. I was taught that a good boss gets good work out of people without having to fire them. Now he’s crying because he got fired because all he did for four years was fire people.

.

I see where Mr. Mitch McConnell ran out on Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump. He also ran out on the coal miners, the people working at places like Hardee’s, and the people in the old folks’ home. It’s nothing new, but for whatever reason he is still there. To all you preachers who prophesied him into the Bible making a Cyrus the Great out of him: What are you going to say about all that false prophesying you did? Have a nice day.

.

Seventeen coal miners with jobs in Letcher County? How would our county have survived without the good work Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump have done for our coal industry?

.

How can you receive a mail-in ballot in one state and then vote in another state and it’s confirmed by the post office that none of these people had a change of address?

.

Crookedness in politics has existed for 200 years or more, but now in D.C. evil has arrived.

.

The ignorant are easily convinced and swayed by politicians. Just wait for end of these next four years to see how much the crooked Democrat politicians actually care for you.

.

To the caller who said, ‘People, when Joe Biden gets in as president, he is going to make Adolf Hitler look like a schoolboy stealing bubblegum’: I would call you an imbecile, but the fact is that you know you’re lying through your teeth. Every last one of you who spout this kind of nonsense should be given a choice of either leaving this country permanently or being hanged on the spot.

.

In the Bible it is written in John 15:1-5, ‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.’

.

The virus is killing 3,000 people a day, much of the country is having to be shut down again, and all the stupid president wants to talk about is the election he lost. Who cares about Trump’s election while so many people are dying? Does he not value human life? Or does he value himself more than the lives of the American people?

.

What’s on my mind is that from Friday to Friday, 96 people in Letcher County were diagnosed with the coronavirus all due to some people not listening to what the governor told them. And for the ones up there taking free presents: Was the gift worth the possibility of losing a loved one? When are we going to start listening? People who have done great things are now acting ignorant. They are better people than this. Doing stuff like this is unreal.

.

Who’s to know whether we can get this virus through all the mail we are getting. The mail goes around the world before it gets to us. I live in Whitesburg and sent a package out to go to Pikeville. I started tracking that package and you would not believe where all it went before it got to Pikeville. It went around the world. So there you go.

.

Thank you, Angel, you are one. You went way beyond the call of duty by going out of the state to find what I needed. Thank you. We love you.

.

Don’t put your used broccoli in my yard with poison on it to kill the dog. You eat it and you will be just where you need to go — home at last where the devil will give you a hug. You pathetic old witch. Burn, baby, burn. May dog dung and cat litter be your last meal.

One hundred and twenty six House Republicans signed onto the Trump regime’s attempt at overthrowing the election; 126 House Republicans attempted to subvert the American people’s vote; 126 House Republicans committed an act of sedition, if not outright treason, and those 126 House Republicans should, at a bare minimum, be ejected bodily from the House of Representatives and never be allowed to run for, let alone hold, any sort of public office at any level ever again. By all rights, the 126 should be charged with those crimes and punished to the full extent of the law. But that assumes the United States is still a nation where the law matters. The Republican Party has demonstrated repeatedly over several decades now that laws, legality, the Constitution, and the United States itself mean absolutely nothing to the party. These 126 Republicans and many of their followers appear to have little in common with the ‘real Americans’ they claim to represent.

.

The treasonous Trump movement has spoken — no more elections, simply declare that their Führer is the winner or else, no matter how We the People actually vote. Or else what, you ask? Well, depending on who’s speaking, ‘or else’ means either (1) they’ll take their ball and go home, ‘secede,’ or (2) they’ll call in their stormtrooper ‘Proud Boys’ and force us to accept the traitor-in-chief. The Eagle failed to print the relevant part of my submission last week. There are very simple responses to each of these idiotic threats: (1) The door is that-a-way. Don’t let it hit your treasonous behind on the way out. You will forfeit your citizenship and drop your passports at the border and leave the United States with just what you can carry with you. You will not take one square inch of U.S. soil with you, not one resource belonging to American citizens, and you don’t come back. Not open for debate, discussion, or argument. (2) Bring it on, you Naziloving, neo-Confederate fascist. The sooner you get suicidally stupid, the sooner we can turn every last one of you traitors into compost. Ridding the world of the Trump-cult would be a good start in actually making America great again.

.

The legal professionals will be glad to get a new phrase to add to their lexicon. A frivolous lawsuit will now and forever be referred to as a Trumpian endeavor.

.

I can see that fracking is expanding at an alarming rate. Fracking corporations are banking on being able to drill and frack for as much oil and gas as possible, including in national parks and densely populated areas of the country. Fracking locks in utterly disruptive climate change. Fracking wells release large amounts of methane gas, exacerbating global warming. And don’t forget fracking a single well typically requires millions of gallons of water, depleting groundwater and drying up streams. Our drinking water is at risk. So when you have time, be sure and research all those chemicals the mother-frackers put in their fracking fluid. Oh wait, we don’t get to know. The toxic chemicals and mixtures are called ‘trade secrets,’ courtesy of former Vice President Dick Cheney. But for now I’ll just go back to slowly reading and learning about Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR) a subsidiary of Halliburton, which was run by Dick Cheney from 1995-2000. Well, back to learning about LNG’s (liquified natural gas) export terminals in the Gulf and fracking waste injection wells. It’s all about the water.

Humpty Trumpty sat on a wall. Will someone help me with the next line for this poem?

.

Hollow dreams haunt me as whispering wings telling of a place I cannot go./ In the wake of hope torn asunder I see only fading ghosts of promises lost./ With that which seemed but a stone’s throw away now vanishing deep into the night, dare I dream again and give way to hope once more?
