Spencer Stephenson has learned to read, spell

Cowan

We are still having nice weather and people are busy in various ways. As I have said before, not many coming or going, and they are truly missed.

Carl Bennett and Marsha and several others went on a nice trip to The Breaks Sunday. He said they had a nice time, but probably had some sore feet and muscles for several days. It’s a rough way in and out.

Several attended church at Little Cowan on Sunday. Elder Brad Dutton and his wife came in from Louisa. It’s always good to see them.

Verna and Chester Rayburn were on Cowan this weekend. Verna had recently visited her daughter, Renee, and Shawn Stephenson and family in Ohio.

She got to see Spencer perform in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. Spencer, who had strongly resisted going to school, finally agreed he would go to kindergarten, but that he would not learn to read. Well, he has finished a successful and happy year of kindergarten, and he did learn to read and spell. Pizza is the “trickiest” word he knows.

Leah is fencing and holding her own against competitors who are mostly older, larger, and male. Audrey, at 7 months old, has everyone charmed.

Cowan Homemakers met at the Community Center with good attendance, a good lunch, and a good time.

The Little Cowan Church is having Bible School this week from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
