Springtime is on its way

Cowan

Our winter season is going by fast and so far no really bad weather. As you get older it seems that the seasons go by fast.

Several attended church at Little Cowan on Sunday. We missed those who were unable to attend. The Eastern District Association will be held at the Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church this year. Many are already making plans to attend. Several hundred attend. It will be an honor to have it.

I don’t have a big lot of news. There’s not very much going on this time of year. We sure miss a lot of our people who aren’t with us anymore and especially in the spring of the year.

The Cowan Community Center and the Cowan women-folk had a busy day recently. In the morning a group tacked two quilts for Linda Lucas and Ruth Shackleford. Both were done in cheerful yellows. They had a delicious lunch.

In the evening another group met for a storytelling session with Angie DeBord. It was great to see people you know but had not been with much lately. What felt like an old-time neighborly visit turned out to be an interesting learning experience. We really appreciate Angie and her ability to get people talking, listening, remembering, and relating. We are looking forward to the next time

Elizabeth Fairchild attended church at Eolia this weekend and reported a good service. We are blessed with churches in our area. Seems like when we were traveling you didn’t see as many churches as we have here.

If this pretty weather keeps on, people will be getting ready to plant their gardens – the few that do.

You see a lot of things that need to be done in the spring. It takes a lot of time to keep up a place.

Our nieces and nephews that live away don’t come in very often since their parents passed away. We miss them.

Seems like I don’t have much news this week. I hope everyone is looking forward to spring, so take it easy while you can. Springtime is on its way.
