State exam set for PVA



The Kentucky Department of Revenue will hold a special examination at 9 a.m. Thursday,

Dec. 22, to qualify prospective candidates for the vacant office of Letcher County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) as required by Kentucky Revised Statute ( KRS) 132.380(1).

The examination, which is open to Letcher County residents only, will be held at the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) Building, 400 Englewood Drive in Frankfort. Identification will be required.

Persons who pass the examination will be qualified and eligible for appointment by the governor to serve as PVA for the remainder of the current unexpired term ending December 3, 2018.

Applicants must meet criteria as set forth in Section 100 of the Kentucky Constitution. Applicants must be at least 24 years of age; be a citizen of Kentucky; have resided in the state at least two years preceding the election; and have resided in Letcher County at least one year preceding the election.

The written examination is based on verbal and mathematical skills. All materials necessary to take the examination, including calculators, are supplied. There is no study guide for the exam.
