Kentucky State Police have located a preteen girl missing from Leslie County with a man she had apparently been talking with on social media.
The man, 20-year-old Noah A. Foote, of Millington, Tennessee, was arrested and charged with kidnapping a minor.
Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call about 11:30 p.m. Monday to respond to Coon Creek Road in Leslie County. The parents told police they had discovered that their 12-year-old daughter was missing.
Trooper Chad Daniels along with Trooper Ronnie Long responded and opened an investigation. Evidence gathered at the scene as well as information from neighbors led the troopers to believe that the girl had left the residence with someone in a white Ford pickup truck. The troopers sent that information to all the surrounding agencies, and officers with the London Police Department located the vehicle and made a traffic stop. Police identified Foote as the driver, and the missing juvenile as the passenger. The troopers responded to that location and placed Foote under arrest.
Through interviews, police learned the juvenile had been talking with Foote for an extended period of time through social media. Foote had planned on taking the juvenile back to Tennessee to live with him, Police said.
Foote was lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center, where he remained Tuesday afternoon. The incident is under investigation by Trooper Daniels.
