This is one of the worst times of my life. My friend Raymond “Pap” Brown has been in the intensive care unit in a Johnson City Tenn., hospital and is very sick.
You know if you have read Struttin’ Time more than a few times that Pap is my best friend. Pap has the love for kids in his heart, and has spent his entire adult life trying to make them happy, stay out of trouble, and to be the best that they can be. Raymond has spent many hours over many years loading the children of our area on the Shriners’ train at Kids Day events.
Raymond is loved by kids as much as anyone I’ve ever known. I have written many stories that Raymond has told me, and my life has been much enriched by him being my friend. This is not the way things were supposed to happen. Raymond was going to write my last Struttin’ Time column after I crossed the Silent River. He still may, but he has taken a curve in this journey we call life, and he has to get straight.
I would like to ask my readers to please keep Raymond in your thoughts. When things smooth out we will get back to hunting.
