Struttin’ Time

Thieves are lacking in their moral fiber

Well the darn thieves are at it again.

It hasn’t been three weeks ago that I wrote of people getting burglarized. Now they have robbed a man who has never done any wrong to anyone, our good friend Kevin Day of WXKQ/WTCW radio. What is this world coming to?

I got sick to my stomach when I heard the news, having just been victimized in July myself. I guess I expect too much from the people of Letcher County, but there are low-life criminals living here like anywhere else. I installed a $6,000 alarm system to try and slow them down where I live, because you can’t really stop them. To stop them you would need to reweave their moral fiber, and they have none. We are just going to have to rely on “SELF HELP.”

Well, I am making one last ditch effort to finish my wild turkey “grand slam” this year. I scouted myself into a state of panic while I was deer hunting, and because of that I almost let my season end without the nice big buck I got. I may need to get my friend Destiny Sturgill to do some guiding for me. We will just wait and see. I’ll keep you posted.

I have been told Santa will be at the Hemphill Community Center for “Breakfast With Santa” on December 8. The event will run from 8 a.m. until noon. Come out and enjoy. Then on December 9, Santa will be at Frazier’s Farmer’s Supply in Whitesburg from 1 until 5 p.m.

Well it is into the woods to do some more scouting. Turkey season has opened again and I hope to put my Slam to rest.
