I would like to tell everyone about our coming reunion in the Daniel Boone National Forest, at Little Lick Campground.
The reunion is for all the Letcher County hunters who hunted there until we stopped going as a group in 1998. I have been in touch with several who hunted with us, and the list already contains Dean Thompson, Tommy Hampton, J.D. Griffin, Woody Bentley, and yours truly. Many members of our old crew have passed away, many are too sick and feeble to go, and maybe some just won’t go. If you would like to join us for a weekend of real fun, contact me or one of the others I just named.
I have many more people to contact. Let me be clear: You don’t need to have been one of our original group members in order to go with us. Just be willing to camp for a couple days, hunt and fish a couple of days, and expect to have a good time. Bring a child, your grandchild, or a neighbor. My number to call is 606-717-0126. I am on Facebook, or you can e-mail me at filo@irvineonline. Also, you can get in touch with Pam Walker or Sam Adams at The Mountain Eagle. They will see that I get the message.
My first thought was to have the reunion the weekend of the third Saturday in August, the opening day of squirrel season, but then I was reminded it was always Labor Day weekend, so we changed it to then.
I went from 1958 until the close, in 1998, and always had a blast. Please join us as we relive a time from our past. You will be glad you did. Everyone is welcome.
