First this week I want to thank whoever sent me a $20 bill to buy my Kentucky 2019 hunting license. I got a big grin on my face, although I wish I knew who sent it. Oh well, thank you very much.
The 2019 turkey hunt is well on its way, but some of my friends and me have already traveled out state to hunt, so we are a couple up on you. I will be hunting in Kentucky — with a hunting license — as soon as it gets here. I have no open dates to hunt with anyone, but I would like to hunt with all of you.
Our trip to the west will take place on April 16, and is also booked. I wish I had a way to get a count of the number of Struttin’ Time readers who would like to get their “Grand Slam.”
Although I live a great life, sometimes sadness comes for a visit. It happened again when my friends from Maine, who had planned on coming in again this year to hunt with me, got in touch and told me they couldn’t make it this time. I understand, and I hope to see them soon.
If you haven’t tried out your hunting gear yet, please do so. If you are like me, you have gained a few pounds, so you might want to make sure your hunting clothes still fit. Check your sights on your gun to make sure they are still on, sand or chalk your calls, and be sure your flashlights are charged and ready to go.
Time is getting away from us. A prepared hunter is a happy hunter and is usually the one who bags a nice tom. Until next week …
