Sturgill rites set




Columbus Sturgill, 67, of Eolia, died April 24 at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Letcher County to the late Newt and Belle Dengus Sturgill, he was a retired coal miner. He worked 29 years for Westmoreland Coal Co.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Dean Sturgill; three sons, Kyle David Sturgill, Eolia, Johnny Ray Sturgill, Cumberland, and Michael Sturgill, Partridge; three daughters, Laketa Belle Sparkman and Teresa Boggs, both of Cumberland, and Joyce Lively, Harlan; five grandchildren, Thomas Boggs, Colleen Boggs, Kasi Sturgill, Debbie Lively and Marlena Sparkman; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Sturgill and Bryson Boggs; and two sisters, Oma Ison and Maxie Oakes, both of Virginia.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 29, at Boggs Cemetery in Eolia.
