Summer reading program set at Letcher Co. libraries

The Letcher County Public Libraries are hosting a summer reading program.

‘One World, Many Stories’ is the theme of the program, which will be held in all the libraries in Letcher County beginning on June 16. It will include six weeks of stories, games, a magic show, songs and dances. Stories and culture from around the world will be the focus of this program.

To kick off the program the Madcap Puppets from Cincinnati, Ohio, will present “ Tales of Flight with the Brothers Wright” at the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library in Whitesburg at 6:30 p.m., June 16.

In the following weeks, a Mexican fiesta, a magician, a beekeeper, an American cookout and a dancer will be part of the program. A Scholastic Book Fair will coincide with the program June 13-20 at the library in Whitesburg.

The reading program schedule is:

• Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library, Whitesburg, Thursdays at 10:30, 633- 7547.

• Blackey Public Library, Thursdays at 2 p.m., 633- 4013.

• Jenkins Public Library, Thursdays at 11 a.m., 832- 4101.

• Lillian Webb Memorial Library, Wednesdays at 11 a.m., 855-7913.
