Friday, Aug. 29, 7:30 p.m. Sunrise Ridge will be with us. We are so excited to have them once again. They are bluegrass favorites around our area. Come on out for this time of dance and fun with us. We promise the fiddling will cause your feet to move of their own accord. You will have happy feet!
Friday, Aug. 29, Sunrise Ridge
Important Note: We will not be having Friday Nite Pickin’ for the month of September. We do not want to conflict with Mountain Heritage Festival events. We will re-open Friday Nite Pickin’ on Friday, Oct. 3, with Will Caudill and Rte. 7. We plan on being open every Friday night thereafter unless there is inclement weather. The Coal Miner’s Memorial Fes- tival will be held on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. with opening remarks and invocation by Bro. Mike Sturgill.
At 2:30 p.m. Cross Country Bluegrass will be playing the best in bluegrass. Dawson Creek will take the stage at 4 p.m. Last but not least, Mountain Melody will play for us beginning at 5:30 p.m. At sundown there will be a candle lighting ceremony for the fallen miners. Please make plans to be with us all day. There will be great music on the outside stage. Due to time constraints there will not be a time for open mic during this festival. Bring two chairs and a friend and plan to hang out with us all day. Admission free. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Aspiring singers and musicians who want to share their talents are invited to play during intermission on Friday nights. The target audience is bluegrass/country/ folk. Limit two songs per individual/ group until all who wish to pick have had a turn. Rotation as time allows. You will always find a kind and receptive crowd. We have some veteran musicians playing in featured bands who played their first public appearance as a novice on our stage. This is an opportunity to break the ice and get your feet wet so to speak. Everyone welcome!
