Susie Raglin recuperating after heart surgery

Jeremiah

It feels like fall is fast approaching with the cooler evenings, nights and mornings. The sky and clouds are even looking like fall of the year.

We are very concerned about Lowell Caudill, who is feeling so bad lately. His family is so good to him, doing all they can to try and help him during his sickness.

Susie Raglin is doing very well after her recent heart bypass surgery. All of her brothers and sisters have been calling and checking on her and her sons, Doug and Don ”Rags”, are staying with her. Doug and his wife, Delores, are in from Michigan to help out with Susie.

Terry and Pam Adams’s daughter, Alex, and her boyfriend, James Earl Breeding, were married on Saturday at Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church. It looked as though there was a huge crowd and we send them our congratulations.

Allan and Reva Adams’s son, Daniel, and his fiancée, Kayla, were also married on Saturday. Their wedding took place at the Little Dove Church at Sassafras.

This coming Saturday evening, August 23, the annual memorial meeting will be held at the Caudill Cemetery at Red Star. It will start at 5:00 and everyone is welcomed to attend. They will be having dinner afterward, so please bring a covered dish.

Richard and Libby Smith and Terry Taylor and his family recently attended a shooting competition at Middletown.

We are glad that Flarie Caudill is back home on Doty Creek after spending some time at the rehab unit at Hazard Hospital. We hope she continues to improve. Lonzo Caudill and his son, Doug, stopped by on Sunday to visit Coleman and Flarie and their daughter-in-law, Janie.

We are sorry to hear about Barbara Caudill dying last week in Ohio. She was the daughterin law of Sterlin and Mertie Caudill of Blair Branch. She was brought to Letcher County on Sunday and laid to rest at the Hampton Cemetery behind Letcher School.

This past weekend was church time at Blair Branch Church. After church on Saturday night, we sang happy birthday to Travis Morton. Travis’s father, John, is recovering from a broken foot. We were glad to have Sherry Caudill Mullins at church on Sunday. Sherry, who lives at Cynthiana, is the daughter of Sue Caudill, who died a couple of weeks ago.

Chester and Danny Blair stopped by on Saturday for a visit with Mary Helen Blair. We are glad that Danny was feeling well enough to be able to get out and about. Chester’s wife, Odella, and his sister, Josephine Breeding, went flea marketing in Virginia on Saturday morning.

The Letcher County school systems started back this week and everyone needs to be a little more careful on the roads during bus times.
