Swine flu now has become widespread across Kentucky

The Kentucky Department for Public Health is reporting that swine flu has become “widespread” across the state.

Health officials notified the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week that swine flu cases have now been reported in at least half the regions of the state.

Health Commissioner William D. Hacker urges that people get vaccinated against seasonal flu now and receive the swine flu vaccine when it becomes available in mid- October.

Kentucky reported its first death from swine flu earlier this month.
