Sylvania Whitaker home from the hospital

Late happy birthday to Rita Gilley of Letcher. It was on April 30.

Sylvania Whitaker of Blair Branch is home from the hospital. She has been having a rough time. I wish her the best.

My sympathy to the family of Carolyn Sue Walters of Elk Creek. She died on May 2. She had been sick for some time. Her husband is Mack Walters.

The Kids Day went well at Calvary College on Saturday. Even though it rained off and on they had a big crowd and kids don’t seem to mind the rain.

Shane Dixon and his grandfather, Bill Johnson, both of Woodrock, are home from the hospital in Pikeville. They both came home a few weeks ago and are doing a lot better.

Dusty Blair of Jeremiah, wrecked on his motorcycle a few weeks ago. He had a lot of very bad road rash and was in the hospital for about a week. He was lucky. His mother, Loretta Mullins, had to take him back to Tennessee to her home. He will need care since he can’t use his hands for awhile

I have a lot of May birthdays, so happy birthday to my sister Debbie Fugate of Carcassonne, May 19. Blake Fugate of Blackey will be 9 on May 15. He had a alien party at the Perry County Park, and is the son of Alan and Sue Fugate. Blake’s cousin, Sean Daniel Hall of London, will be 9 on May 31. He is the son of Sean Hall of Knott County, and his mom, Jeri, is in London.

My mom, Jean Blair of Elk Creek, has a birthday on May 28, and her cousin, J. P. Campbell of Ulvah, has one the same day.

Michelle Miller of Caudill’s Branch has one on May 25, Pam Adams Mullins of Jeremiah has a birthday also on May 28.

Erin Caudill of Elk Creek has a birthday May 9, and Barry Amburgey of Isom will celebrate on May 8.

I hope they all have good ones.

Happy anniversary to Mike and Diane Haynes of Letcher. They will be married 30 years on May 12.

All my family got together here at my home on Carcassonne and had a big fish fry for Mother’s Day and all the anniversaries and birthdays we have this month.

We had a pretty good day, but most of my family has been sick with the flu. They are all doing better now. It made it worse having to go without power for two days because of the storms.

My sympathy to the family of Wayne Gibson of Isom, who died May 9. He had been in the WARH for about a week.

The Letcher Elementary PTO is putting together a cookbook to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Any parent, student, staff or alumni who would like to put a recipe or photograph in the cookbook can email it to: sararebecca@hotmail.com, or you can also drop it off at the school’s office.

A belated happy 10th anniversary to Johnny and Karen Henrikson of Carcassonne, May 8. They have three children, Takoa, Taylor and Jackson.

Elijah Caudill of Cowan is leaving for the Air Force this week. He will be in Texas for about six months. His parents are Tim Caudill of Blackey and Judy Caudill of Cowan. We are going to miss him.
