Last week Friday Nite Supper Club turned into a great gathering of folks from all over the nation. We were so happy for our visitors and excited to try to make their first trip here an amazing one. Teach for America Rural School Leadership Academy brought a group of 35 or so folks. They all seemed to enjoy the music provided by William and Boyd. My goodness we had fun. We sure enjoyed having these distinguished guests in Hemphill. We are always proud to support the teachers in all they do for children and families.

We were very pleased to have guest musicians in the house who deserve a big a shout out. Singer/ songwriter Candius Nichols performed a beautiful original tune and a gospel favorite. She was awesome. Come back and see us when you can, Candius.

A group comprised of singer/songwriter Jake Sparkman, guitarist Jayden Wright, and bass player James Stone did some original tunes as well as familiar tunes. We enjoyed it so much and hope you all come back our way real soon.

We celebrate the music culture in our neck of the woods. It’s the best! We love the newcomers and the veterans. Keep bending them strangs and sangin’ with that twang. We love it.

The Digging Up Roots Ancestry Forum is meeting on Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Participants are really enjoying themselves. The next one will be held May 30.

Participants are invited to bring a laptop or tablet, and paper and pen. This will be a free bimonthly workshop offered courtesy of Jo Ann Hall Osborne. For more information, call (606) 855-4463.

We have converted Fri- day Nite Pickin’ to a supper club environment where folks can come and enjoy music while eating their evening meal from the fabulous Black Sheep Menu. We will have a featured local singer/songwriter every Friday. Marcus Riley and Jeff Kennedy will be with us on Friday. Come support local live music and community building efforts. Music on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m.

You have an open invitation to come and hang out with us at the center when you can. We have Wi-Fi now so kids and adults are better satisfied not being cut off from their electronic devices. We also have a playground and a walking track so bring the whole family for a visit. Regardless of differences in education, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, or perceived differences, all are welcome and will be treated with justice and friendship. It’s a hate free zone and you are invited! Come and linger among friends!
