A Jeremiah teenager gave 75 semi-formal and formal dresses to girls her age who can’t afford to buy a dress to wear to prom or other special occasions.
Courtney Jackson, with the help of her mother Daisy Jackson, organized a dress giveaway event that was held at the Blackey Community Center on March 28.
“I was so excited to be able to help so many girls,” said Jackson, a junior at Letcher County Central High School. “I thought that it was a huge success and I cannot wait to do it again next year.”
Jackson surpassed her goal of collecting 100 dresses. She ended up with 115 dresses.
Jackson donated remaining dresses to Harlan County High School.
