The Beatles ‘Get Back’ in series set for Nov. 25

Beatles fans will have much to be thankful for this Thursday. Disney Plus will debut a new documentary series unveiling snippets of 57 hours of 50-year-old footage of the Fab Four creating one last album and one last concert together before dissolving as one of the greatest Rock and Roll bands of all time.

Get Back, a three-part series beginning November 25, is legendary film director Peter Jackson’s interpretation of the dynamics of the band.

Jackson is shining new light on a time of The Beatles that has mostly before been negatively portrayed. Jackson is known for making the Lord of The Rings series and has won three Academy Awards.

Michael Lindsay-Hogg filmed the Beatles during their last year for a 1970 film titled Let It Be. Hogg focused only on the darkness of the situation and put it into the film. Jackson shined light among the darkness.

In the trailer for Jackson’s project, The Beatles are seen dancing, laughing, joking and doing what they enjoyed most of all — creating music together. This truly is a side of the band few people have ever seen before.

The film takes you on a magical mystery tour through the band’s final year. The four musical icons were working on their 12th and last studio album that ended up being released in 1970 titled Let It Be. The album featured 14 songs including the title track, “Get Back,” “I’ve Got A Feeling,” “Two Of Us” and “Across The Universe.”

The Beatles had less than three weeks to write and record what would be their last album. They were also going to film a concert for a television show and a documentary, but some members were growing frustrated with John Lennon’s behavior surrounding Yoko Ono.

“I think we should forget the whole idea of this show,” the late George Harrison said at the time. Soon after that, he abruptly quit the band.

The Beatles originally planned to have concerts for the first time in three years, but because of George’s departure the shows were cancelled. Eventually George rejoins and everything starts to come together.

The Beatles wanted to do one last concert — something that would be remembered for eternity. Paul McCartney pitched for something that would end up having them go out with a spectacular bang.

What would be the band’s final show came on January 30, 1969 on the rooftop of Apple Corps headquarters in London. It was the first time they had played live together since August 15,1965. This was also the last time the four men were ever together as a group. They played 42 minutes before police came and stopped the show.

After the spilt of the legendary band, all four men went on to have illustrious solo careers.

George Harrison released All Things Must Pass, which in the modern era has 3.96 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs.

In 1971, John Lennon released his iconic song “Imagine.” In 1980 he released his last album Double Fantasy working along with his wife Yoko Ono. Shortly after, on December 8 on that year, he was shot four times and died soon after in the hospital. He was only 40 years old.

Ringo Starr has released many albums over the years some featuring popular tracks such as “It Don’t Come Easy” and “Photograph.”

Since the breakup of the Beatles, Paul McCartney has won 18 Grammy Awards, sold more than 100 million albums and approximately 8,241,521 concert tickets. l
