Greetings all!!! We need to announce that we will NOT be shutting down during the month of September as has been our custom in recent years. We will be having business as usual in that month as we are having to work hard to keep the bills paid and the lights on at Hemphill Community Center.
Winter is coming on and the cold winds and hardships it will bring with it are a great burden to non-profit organizations like us. Black Sheep Bakery and Catering is a community-owned social enterprise established to fund the efforts and pay the utilities for Hemphill Community Center. There are currently no full-time paid employees. All the labor force is volunteer and community service labor. Every now and then there is a catering function that allows us to pay some contract labor. We hope to hire some full-time and part-time help in the near future as we gain enough momentum to do so.
We are very thankful for our wonderful workers and volunteers who generously donate their labor of love. Thanks also to our patrons who frequent the free space we are working hard to create and maintain. As we often say “We appreciate every penny you spend and every minute you spend with us.”
The sheep at Black Sheep Brick Oven Bakery are producing pizza and baked goods Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You may call in for carryout or dine in. Our new hours will be 3 to 9 p.m., three days per week. We may add days and hours as we see demand.
Check out our menu: https:// www.facebook.com/Hemphillblacksheep/.
Thursday nights we will host a drum circle so bring your drum or percussion instrument and join us at 7 p.m. Friday Nite Pickin’ will continue as usual every Friday. Saturday nights will feature open mic 7-9 p.m. Musicians can come sing for their supper every Saturday.
Special orders are welcome! (606) 671-7023 or (606) 821-2401
Black Sheep Bakery is now taking orders for loaf breads (white, 9 grain, and honey oat), sourdough, French bread, and hot rolls. We will be baking on Thursdays and orders can be picked up on regular business days. If the time doesn’t work for you we will arrange for you to pick up. We can receive orders through Wednesdays at 4 p.m to allow us to get our bakers and ingredients lined up. Message us on Facebook or call (606) 671- 7023 or (606) 821-2401
